arsenalthebest
i just had a player score a fluke goal but was ruled out for diving what the hell why would you dive when you scored? if it was for a penalty i could understand but diving when you scored makes no sense
kieronbrown73
Maybe the player had simulated a foul, which the ref had already pinged and the ball went off him into the goal.

arsenalthebest
Maybe the player had simulated a foul, which the ref had already pinged and the ball went off him into the goal. then why did the ref wait until after the goal to blow his whistle

Kenco
I had an own goal disallowed for diving too. I was managing GB in the Olympics, Daniel Sturridge got tackled on the edge of the 6 yard box and dived just as the defender's tackle sent the ball straight into the net. I was not happy. Edit: Not happy with Sturridge for diving, no problem with the ref as he did the right thing.
Nocuous
Someone on this site once posted a video of one of their players scoring a diving header and it was ruled out and the scorer was booked for diving.

vlobben
The diving happens before the goal is scored and I assume referees are meant to react chronologically on situations.
Smurf
The dive happened before the o.g. - therefore the dive was a foul which the ref must call. The o.g. didn't stand because a foul had been committed.
