Keep Wages Low by 'Bribing' Player Agents on FM2011

'Bribing' Player Agents on signing and contract renewals

Signing Players

To keep wages low you have to offer the player's agent higher fees for him and his client in exchange for low wages, first offering lower wages to a higher fee. Try and make an offer of about the same as his current contract. Gradually raise the fee and maybe the wages a little until an offer is agreed upon. Then you may raise the contract length to 5 years and remove any wage rise clause, raise the agent's fee a little and make new offer. It will most likely be accepted.

'Minimum fee release clause' and 'match highest earner clause' are harder to remove, so it's better to try that in a contract renewal, maybe the next year. I find that this 'bribing' really helps keeping wages low on the long run, but I think it can also help on the short term because it can really keep down costs.

Contract Renewals

When renewing a contract, try and keep wages at the same or slightly higher level against a higher fee. When an offer is agreed upon, again remove any undesired clauses while offering a slightly higher fee to have the new offer accepted. 'Minimum fee release clause' are hard to remove, but you may be able to raise the minimum by offering the agent a higher fee. Spending money on such a renewal makes sense if you are going to sell the player and otherwise may help you keep him at the club.

Ganso 2012;

I often had players who had a 'match highest earner clause' in their contract, but did not ask for one in their new contract. Removing this 'match highest earner clause' makes sense when you're about to sign a new player on a bigger contract.

Renew contracts 1 or 2 years before they expire to keep wages at the same or slightly higher level. When contracts tend to expire there's more interest in your players and they may demand much higher wages. This applies to both players and staff members. Don't withdraw a contract offer. Staff member will not accept a new contract offer.

Players I am not sure of yet.

This really helped keep low wages. I had a team in 2036 that won the CL with wages of just under 600k/week;

I hope this may help you to keep your wages low, on FM2011 or other versions of the game.

Cheers!

Exactly, I don't really see how it's better to pay 2M€ one shot to an agent vs paying 50k€/month extra to a player (for a 3 year contract for example).

Unless you are really close to you wage limit, it's not really a good deal for your finances...

One thing I try and do is put in the maximum divisional team of the season bonuses for players who are never going to get it (eg backup goalies or rotation players), this seems to sweeten deals and will never be paid out.

Because I'm cool I will figure out how much a decrease in wages saves me , and increase the agent fee but making sure its less than the orignal saving figure. So in the end I save money in the long run.

Or i will increase the loyalty bonus If i dont plan to sell them

In your example it isn't a great idea, but if you are playing a lower division club you can easily save hundreds of thousands of £ on a contract by paying the agent £10k-£20k extra. Do it for every member of your squad and you can easily save millions.

I use it a lot on big signings. £20,000 per year is £1m. If you sign a guy up on a 4 year contract which is typical you can usually pay the agent an extra £100,000 and get £5,000 a year off his salary, which is £1m - £100k so £900k profit over 4 years. Bargain! Works even better with young players who want mid level contracts worth 20-30k whose agents usually aren't as rich and are more willing to screw their players over.

That was exactly the idea of what I was trying to show. Neymar and Ganso may not have been the best examples, they were just to illustrate.

If works better on smaller contracts where a few thousand to a player agent may save millions on player wages.

I intended to keep Neymar and Ganso for the long run, so keeping their wages low and renewing their contracts 'often' made sense.

They both stayed with Ajax their entire career at got it as favorite club, so I guess the mentioned loyalty bonus for contract renewals may help in keeping players at your club.
