All Save Games "cannot be loaded" suddenly - twice! Does FM 2012 not actually work?

Firstly, I bought the game on Steam. I have had loads of problems with "XML Parsing Error"s and various other little things ("Game is not an original copy" etc.) and don't know if this is a problem because of steam of simply because of the game but the latest problem is the worst. EVERY save game I have had- even those not in the normal save directory- now cannot be loaded at all. This happened all of a sudden and there is no other problem with my computer. I understand a save could become corrupt if you quit mid save but all of them at once when I haven't had the game on?!?

I also should mention I have had problems with my internet recently which prevented me from being able to actually play the game before discovering all the saves seem to be destroyed. I also realise there has been a patch released so wondered if that has caused problems.

This was a few (4/5) days ago now and I just opened the game to firstly get an XML Parsing error and then to find a new game which I just started last night with two save files (one of which worked last night) can now also "not be loaded".

Am I going to never be able to actually play the game anymore? Is this a massive problem in FM 2012 itself or in steam?

I've tried both of those with no luck- none of the games can be loaded still.

I have Spybot, malwareBytes and CCleaner. They don't seem to show any problems.

I want to start a new game but it seems like it will just happen again making any game pointless.

Can you show us results of a DXDiag please, lets see if there's anything in your setup potentially causing a problem?

I hope something in there might show up, thanks again for helping.

Edit: just noticed that when I did that I had no fere space, that wasn't the case a few days ago and now have a few GB free.

So - a couple of things stand out that are worth checking here:

- You'll very likely be able to get an updated graphics card driver and I suspect that'll fix your problem.

- You should check to see if you can update your windows version, too - there may be a service pack available that'd help.

Just doing a windows update may help with the two above.

- While you're at it, I'd check your installations of DirectX and Java and make sure they're up to date.

I would wager your problem will go away at that point.
