Exagerated effect of injuries.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else found that medium to long term injuries are having a PERMANENT exagrerated effect on your players stats? For example, Mata 25, still more than young enough to recover from anything, torn calf muscle, was out for three months max. Comes back and every stat, literally almost every single one, had decreases by at least one if not two points. Three months laters after easing him back in then playing him pretty much onctantly to get him back up there and his stats haven't budged.

Essien...total lost cause, real lfie is proving this a pretty dumb idea.

Another example Chiellini broke his leg, was out for 4 months, still only 27, again almost all stats have gone down by one if not two. His acceleration has gone down by FOUR ffs and some others by ridiculous amounts.

I've got two great physios and i couldnt bring myself to sack Eva Caniero esp after the face pack. So it's not my physios. I don't rush them back. They haven't have the injury beofre, neither have had an injury since.

So...anyone got any thoughts?

Agree to an extent, for me 3 months is not a significant enough length of time to have a permanent effect on a player.

6 (or maybe 9)+ months I'm quite happy with the permanent effect but really should be on physcials and mentals (technique should not be impacted by an injury)

Yea totally agree with this, loads of people seem to be able to find millions of faults with this game but for me this is the only issue that really bugs me. A player's ability to recover should be slightly randomised but also be based on attributes such as natural fitness, determination, professionalism etc etc. Look at Antonio Valencia, broke his leg last season (I was there, what a horrible game that was) and came back this year better than ever. And yes it should certainly only apply to injuries of 6months+.

try getting valencia then getting back to back injures. i also picked up srna, he got injured and all his physicals went from over 16 to below 15's

i dont mind it on the short term, it should return but it doesnt.

wilfred is another, he gets injured he loses that 20 strength and it NEVER comes back

There was a long thread on this here, and one in the bugs forum, where they said they'll reduce the effect. Apparently it's still the same then.

Main problem is that there is no recovery process coded in the game. If someone gets a serious injury they'll lose attributes all across the board but when they come back they only gain ability through the same development process as any non-injured player. Meaning any player over 26 or so is screwed because the development rate by then is so slow they're only able to get a fraction of their ability points back.

2-3 months? You can see skill downs from just 3-4 weeks of injuries to be honest...I agree that the effect is a bit too drastic at the moment and could use some tweak.

Edit: Especially if they want to have so freakin unrealistic amount of injuries...start of season and I got 7 players injured for at least a month...really?...

I totally agree. Injuries crippled 4 of my players to an extent that they permanently turned from key players to backups:

Kroos, Reus, Alaba, Gomez.

They were all aged 25-27 but even two years later they hadnt regained their lost CA and i sold them.

I hope they changed this with the new patch.

Agree completely. Van Persie has no serious history of big injuries (nothing longer than about a month) and by 2015 on my game, he's absolutely screwed and get barely walk after 30 minutes. Essien is useless as soon as he comes back. Just silly really. WAY OTT.

It's not the same. Before the improvements, any kind of long-term injury would basically ruin a player entirely. A six month injury could easily lead to a drop of as much as 20 CA. Now, it only slightly diminishes a player. It's much better than it was before, but I agree that it shouldn't be so difficult for a 26 year-old to recover their mental and technical attributes especially since the AI always uses hard tackling against the sort of creative players that rely on these attributes (Mata, for example).

Ironically, after mentioning Alaba's injury on here his stats didn't even change when he was injured for what would normally ruin a player's stats...Torres however suffered heavily from a month's less injury time :/...one good thing Chiellini has after TWO fkn years of constant quickness specialisation training and CONSTANT playing his acc and speed have gone up one point each!!!! A mighty triumph indeed. And although he was considered a 4 star player post injury, Italy captain, my captain, winning defender of the year. When he came back every single coach (you know how you can flick through each of their reports esp when you think the normal guy is being hrash, or you want a GK coach to comment on your keeper not fkn Atillo Lombardo, or my fitness coach) had him down as a 2 star player max, with some on one and a half stars. His stats had been raped by this stupid FM12 bug but he wasn't anywhere near that bad, his stats were still above many people considered 3-3.5 stars and his average rating was well above 7.20. He is however now being awarded by the majority of coaches 2.5 stars! He's still not in the Italy team though...

The main point about the sarcastic rant above is that despite coming back, being specialistly trained in the areas specifically depleted and having2 years of constant play well above 7.20, his average for the two seasons was 7.58 and 7.64, scored 8 goals each season, 4 then 5 assists and had 8 MoM awards then 6...yet until this now third season his stats either remained static or dropped still and he was regarded by my coaches as a pariah. So it's not just the initial stupidly fast depletion of stats it's also afterward. Plus as the Alaba case, and there's another one too i think it was Shingi Kagawa...who was 28 at the time so same age as Chiellini when he got injured and his stats didn't budge despite having the same injury and actually taking longer to come back PLUS suffering a reoccurance of the injury in his second reserve game. Not a major one but it had been a torn muscle and he had now strained it. Which as anyone who has suffered such an injury or played a lot of FM will know is an extremely worrying sign.
