Player interactions

I'm 14 years into my Arsenal save, with int footballer as rep and I've had a bit of success, and every season after making new signings, be it old or new I get players to tutor one another, however I have never had a player refuse to give or receive a mentor, is it due to my rep?

Also every season if a player asks to leave, I can delay him asking again simply by saying 'you've done so much' and then 'im the boss' they never stand their ground.

Not complaining, just seems a little unrealistic
