The only (?) advantage is that processing is faster and your game is faster, as the results are formulated without the fixtures being actually ran, if that makes sense. If you have all the top leagues in the world loaded, but only viewable, then you do not get the mucked up player histories: e.g. when you sign a player from another top league, the leagues they have played in do not dissapear on their player history screen.
