Hard Drive Speed

Recommended Posts

It will be noticeable, especially for lots of small files, but note that hard disk performance is dependent on lots of things, not just how fast the thing spins.

Also note that 5,400 rpm drives consume less power and give off less heat (in general) than 7,200 rpm drives, which make them good candidates for laptops.

You probably wont notice too much difference in FM really. I've got an SSD in my desktop and it's awesome, but FM wise it's not actually much different as it doesn't load much from the hard drive. Even saving games isn't massively quicker.

Then you do not really need anything speedy.

I do love SSDs though, I have three of the damn things and my desktop is all SSD now, not a spindle in sight! Heck since I started using steam and had a decent internet I havent even had a CD/DVD drive for years now!
