If you have a determined squad and you've told them that they won't win or don't have a chance, they may be so determined to prove you wrong that they have just gone for it. Sunderland beat Chelsea 3-0 last season, so had Chelsea massively piled forward, and Sunderland nicked another 3 on the counter attack, then it could have finished 6-0 too. kris0710 Posted December 10, 2011 Share Posted December 10, 2011 If you had posted this in the summer then my answer would have been yes but after watching results such as Man U 8-2 Arsenal and Man U 1-6 Man C then no. And not forgetting last season Sunderland went to the bridge and won 3-0 IIRC. Freak results are one of the reasons ppl love football. If you look at the player rating tho, Terry 4.2 and the two full backs 5.5 or under looks like a bad day at the office. To add to that not many managers bring a player on at half time then sub him just 17mins later so maybe there was more than one formation during the game which could help Sunderland's cause.
