Is the game decided before you play?

As a test a friend of mine started a game and saved it on day one.. at end of the season he wrote down many things such as when players were getting injured etc, transfers, sackings etc dates and months

he then quit the game

opened the saved game from day one once again and played another season from the start, and more or less everything happened in the same order as it did the first time he played a season on that save?

therefore there is no randomness to the game, it all seems to be fixed from the first set up.

Well, whenever you start a game, certain stats, and team targets etc are all randomised, that happens at game creation - and things go from there, ever ever more different as time spans on. If you do as your friend did, the initial targets, player and staff stats are already decided and the game will still vary depending upon game results leading to different sacking dates, new regens etc. but it's still going to be fairly similar in the first season as it starts with the same base.

Yet if he started from an entirely new game, it'd be a lot more different than replaying an already-made game.

Also the games would diverge over time anyway - there is randomness, you've just created a situation that minimises it.

Is the game decided before you play? No. However, the longer you do play over the course of a season the less, it seems, that your player's ability and tactics determine the outcome, compared to stuff like player morale and asinine press conferences/team talks. After about the 3rd game of the season, it goes from Football Manager '12 to Babysitting Simulator '12. Good times.

Save game before match, play match, note down scores, load game, play match, note down the scores.

The matches won't be the same. The same result might occur but then you'd expect that, although it probably won't have the same score.

RVP got injured November 11th for 3 weeks

on restart of the same save.. the same thing happened

Song injured for 2 months December 24th

again same thing once restarting using the same save..

thats what dissapoints me. its as though once u load a datebase save, injuries are already set as to when to occur
