Sir Bobby Robson Challenge

Recommended Posts

I was looking through the sortitoutsi challenges and came across this one. It was posted on there by Mr Spanky and originally came from graham fm07. So a big thanks goes to those 2 guys.

And being an Ipswich fan this appealed to me big time.

The Aim

To mirror the managerial career of Bobby Robson, whilst matching and in some cases bettering his achievements.

Starting Status

Fulham Manager

Past Experience: International Footballer

Database Size: Any

Game Start Date: England (July 07)

Selected Leagues

England – Championship +

Holland– Jupiler league +

Portugal- Liga Vitalis+

Spain- BBVA +

The Challenge

Step 1.Fulham – After starting as Fulham you are to establish yourself as a manager by achieving an position of 8th or better in the EPL.

Step 2.Ipswich Town – This is the stepping-stone to your stardom, You must then take the job Ipswich Town (through application or declaring interest only). Then you must (if in championship get promoted first) in the EPL get Ipswich Town into Europe, and win the FA Cup. When in Europe and the hardest of them all win the Uefa Cup or better with them(not all in one season ) before moving to step 3.

Step 3.PSV Eindhoven – This is where it could get a bit tricky. You must then apply for the PSV Eindhoven job. During your time at PSV Eindhoven you must win the Dutch League Title back to back, J.C Shaal and again go one further than Bobby and get them into the quarter Finals of the Champions league (This doesn’t have to be achieved all in the one season.). Before you move to step 4.

Step 4.Sporting Lisbon – You must then move to Portugal and apply for the Sporting Lisbon job. Here you must win league with them, the Taca de Portugal and the Super taca, And go further then Bobby and win the Uefa cup or better (not all in 1 season)

Step 5. Porto – You then stay in Portugal and become manager of Porto where you must lead them to the league title back to back and the Taca de Portugal and the super taca . And go further then Bobby and win the Uefa cup or better, and win the Uefa supercup (not all in 1 season)

Step 6 Barcelona- You return for your second stint at Barcelona, Do one better than Bobby and lead them to league title, Then lead them to the Copa de Rey, Supercopa and Champions league glory and win the Uefa super cup and the Club World Championship (not all in one season).

Step 7 PSV Eindhoven - You return for your second stint at PSV Eindhoven. Do one better than Bobby and win the league, and the KNVB Beker then you lead them to uefa cup glory or better.(not all in one season)

Step 8 Newcastle United - Your final journey leads you back to where it all started apply for the Newcastle United job, You must better Bobby and win the EPL and the FA Cup and win the Uefa cup or better.(not all in one Season)

If you find that Ipswich Town are in the EPL already Consider yourself lucky. You must however still complete the other goals attached with the club.

At any time during the challenge you may apply for the English nation team job.

As England Manager you are to deliver international success to trophy-starved English fans by winning either the European Championships or the World Cup.

Rules

1. You must complete each step before moving on to the next. (the international goals can be done at anytime but must be offered the job)

2. If you are sacked you must take a job one division lower. E.g. if you are sacked in the EPL you must take a job in the Championship and try and win back your old job. (moral of the story is try to avoid the axe at all costs)

3. No external utilities like FM Scout should be used.

4. Winner will be the person who can complete this challenge in the least amount of time.

Thread Rules

1. Tactics and Player Buys may be discussed.

2. Screenshots and progress reports are needed (you need to prove it)

So good luck to one and all.

Could you not create a new user, make him/her Ipswich etc and then retire so you can apply. Would that make it easier for those who wish to participate in this challenge?

The waiting is what makes it a challenge.

BTW, have you heard N'Zogbia is moving to Wigan for 3.5mil?

I f****** hope not as I'll have to change my username on a few forums to either thezogsnotageordie or thezogsalatic!

I love the kid, pure clas, just wish Keegan would play in the left of a 3 man attack, also including Oba and Mike.

Back on-topic, I hope people attempt this as I will follow their progress icon14.gif

Well first season finished. Missed out on 8th place by one point...damn. But on the up side I won the FA Cup and came 3rd in manager of the year. Also Brian McBride finished 2nd top scorer in the league with 23 goals. Fernando Torres came 1st with 27. So roll on next sesaon.

Well my 2nd season is now complete and I have achieved the first target on Fulham finishing 8th or above.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll125/Bealesy1971/LeagueTable.jpg

The Ipswich managers job, who is still Jim Magilton, is stable so I may be in with a chance of it soon if Ipswich get a terrible start to the season. But my highlight of the season were the two games below. The first one being 3-0 down and having a man sent off but still coming back to draw 3-3 and going through on away goals. And the 2nd game speaks for itself. Anyway roll on next season.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well now finished 3rd Season and i finished 4th on goal difference from Newcastle who were 3rd. I also won the league cup and got beat in the Uefa Cup Final by Spurs so a good season all round. Anyway Ipswich finally got rid of Jim Magilton so I thought great here we go and I applied for the job. And then they go and give it to Terry Burton I couldnt believe it. So this challenge is turning out to be and bit harder and longer than I thought.

if you would have resigned as fulham they would have proably given you the job because you would have been unattached and they wouldnt have to had paid any compensation to Fulham
