Good laptop for FM12

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a new laptop that will work well for FM12, I will mainly be using the laptop just to run FM.

I was looking at this one...

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...90980-pdt.html

Processor AMD Dual-Core E2-3000M processor (1.8 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)

Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

RAM 4 GB

- DDR3

- 6 GB maximum expandable memory

Graphics card AMD Radeon HD 6380G Dual GPU

-1 GB DDR3 dedicated

- up to 1.98 GB total

I think the graphics card is good enough to run matches in 3D?

But the processor is only 1.8GHz and the system requirements say min 2.GHz on Windows 7. Would that make a big difference?

If not what's the best laptop I could get for around £400 that would run it it quickly?

THANKS!

Intel HD is bad that is true

laptops aren't like desktop computers, buy a component and replace it with something better, you won't see that in a laptop

either you buy a laptop with dedicated video card either you buy one without it's simple

I recommend waiting and raising up more money, 400 pounds is not enough for what you want

Thanks for the help. Is watching the games using the 3D match viewer that important? I could get a laptop with an i5 processor within my budget, which would run the game in general quite fast, right? But sacrifice the 3D viewing as it would come with an intel HD card.

Also, is intel HD 3000 any different to just intel HD?

have a look here too

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=854282&CatId=4965

about Intel HD graphics you can read here :

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/hd-graphics/hd-graphics-developer.html

I have intel hd graphics 3000 at work on a desktop computer and I remember football manager gave it half a star at video performance

well I haven't used 3d match viewer but there are other players that use it and love it

my opinion is don't buy a laptop with a poor dedicated video card, buy a laptop with a good video card, you might wanna use that laptop with other programs and games too. and don't forget the processor and ram too: at least dual-core with 2.5 Ghz and 3 GB of Ram

both are important, and most laptops prices based in those two factcs, the processor & the type of video card.

for gaming, video card is the most important thing, but you can't get average processor where you would find your laptop perform slowly or hot easily, and the later could lead your motherboard to be burned ( i know friends complained about this while playing football manager, and i've similar issue around 4 years ago ! )

Thanks. What's the lowest kind of graphics card that would run the games in the 3D mode without any lag? I've heard Intel HD card isn't very good, is that true? Or would it be easier to buy a good graphics card separately?

i was searching in the site and others, it's look like it's better to try another site as he said.

i would recommend Nividia graphics for you, because it's more about speed ( which is good for football 3D ) ..

i don't think you need to worry that much about graphic cards to run 3D mode, in the last year while playing FM11, i had Toshiba, which it's ATI dedicated 512 MB, it was OK with me when power on, while the 3D mode a bit low when on battery, my laptop fell to the down 'poor use' , i didn't have enough money to spend so went for Samsong for £320, the video card was Nividia dedicated 265 MB, and the 3D mode works fine with me, even on Battery.

so you must be careful, the video card not just about Nividia/ATI or dedicateed 1GB or 256MB.. it's also about Model number, and which video card designed for particular use/programm .. you can search and read about them in Wiki or more specialists people reviewers.

But basically i prefere Nividia video cards ( series 330+ ) and it should work fine with you, and i recommend you not to get the lowest kind for praghics card to run games in 3D mode, you should try to get the best as much as you can - within your budget - to avoid of being forced to look for another one for next version or other game.

Acer

this one very good processor and excellent video card for around 700 dollar ( £450 ) with 14 screen size.

depends on acer agent on your country, if good services or not, which i don't know, but it's OK in my country and i brought similar one to my brother.

here are reviews about this one.

alternative MSI for with 15.6 screen size.

if you care about better brand, you may be forced to get Core i3 ( not quick ) or dedicated 512MB ( it guess it's would be still OK with next FM ) it's also depends on which screen size you, and if you care about more battery life/mobility or not. so you i suggest Asus

or if you can go £450 for Toshiba , it's corei5 and Nividia 330 series 1GB dedicated . ( which i highly recommened ).

First of all, the suggestions from Amazon US are irrelevant. Laptops are MUCH cheaper in the US and they don't ship to the UK. Even if you get it here somehow (through a friend?), you are likely to not have valid warranty. Having said that, in the UK you can't buy much with 400 quid. If you manage to find i3 2310m with integrated graphics (HD3000 will handle FM on low to medium details), that would do. If you can't, then I'd recommend working more on the processor side as this is more important for FM in a combo with some basic graphics card.

An example of what you should be looking for - http://www.dabs.com/category/computing,laptops-and-netbooks,laptops/11105-15-54580000-4294963789 .

HD3000( i3 2310m for example) is a class above Intel HD (i3 370m for example).

On it you can run FIFA, DIRT3 and the CoD and BF games from 2009-10. FM12 will not be a problem on low settings and the processor is good enough for running a few leagues fluently.

From what I've written and the budget you've given - http://www.dabs.com/products/lenovo-b570-i3-2310m-4gb-500gb-dvd-rw-15-6--w7hp-7FQX.html?refs=15-54580000-4294963789&src=3 or http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-3-np300e5a-a01dx-15-6-laptop-silver-11296544-pdt.html

Of course, it has an i5-4530, which is a great processor for home users right now...They don't list a separate graphics card so I am assuming it is the integrated option so as long as you don't want to play other 3D shooters/RPGs released after 2010, then it should be OK. For 500 euro it is a great deal obviously as it is worth probably 50 more.

The Intel HD 3000 graphic chip that is integrated into the latest Intel processors, is good enough to run the relatively modest (in terms of graphic card taxing) 3D that FM has. Get a laptop with an Intel i5 2410 or better processor, and you're sorted. Maybe with a graphic card in the medium range, like the Nvidia GT 540M, to be absolutely certain that FM's 3D graphics runs smoothly on high settings. Furthermore; 4 GB RAM should do fine - more is better, but not necessary. Also depends on how many leagues and how big a data base you want to run.

Edit: Forget about processor clock speeds - they are not as relevant anymore as they used to be. There are other things in the architecture of a laptop processor that counts more. You can't go wrong with a modern Intel i5 or i7, in any case. AMD can not, simply put, compete with Intel as far as laptop processors go. For the time being.

Marco C, if you can get them at the same price - I'd prefer the Samsung, I like Lenovos but this is the only laptop in their portfolio I dislike design-wise. If the Lenovo is cheaper, it is not bad as the specs seem similar.

Scotty, Sony with integrated graphics = any other brand with independent graphics card (price-wise). If you want to play shooters and are on a budget go for something else. Minimum I'd aim at is Nvidia 540m or equivalent AMD cards. The integrated graphics are not good for 3D shooters...

Lenovo B570 has all the specs mentioned core i5, 4GB RAM, Inte HD 3000, 500GB HD, etc and runs fm2012 without any issues at all on high graphic settings, got mine from Laptps Direct for £430 im more than happy with it although it may struggle to run COD and games of a more detailed nature i only bought mine for fm2012 though so not a problem.

lol i was about to ask a similar question, i was wondering if Intel HD 3000 graphics card was good

I would like to know this also. :D

I won't be using them for any other games, just FM. All I want to know is if it can run the 3D match viewer properly. Is there really any need to get a proper gaming graphics card just to run the 3D mode?
