No recent game after 'not well formed invalid token' errors

I have the Steam download of this and although I have had a few issues with Steam, all has been ok until last night. Last night, whilst loading the game, I got this XML error about tokens etc and there must have been around 7 or 8 of them, which I clicked ok to, to get to the game. Once in the game, I had to change my preferences again, to get my game windowed but it loaded my saved game no problem and I played happily all night and saved/closed no problem when finished.

Tonight, I come to the game and the XML errors are back, so again I ok them to get to the game but when I get there, there is no recent game to click on! I opt to load a game and click on my most recent save, only to be told the game cannot be loaded, yet I can load a previous save no problem.

Since then, I have renamed my settings folder to get rid of the XML errors, as per a reported fix but this does not solve my saved game issue.

What has happened and how do I get my recent save to work, please?

You can't. All you can do is remove the cache (which is what you've done), but that game is gone. You'll have to load the earlier save. Had this last week unfortunately.

So why did it happen? A full two months of game play wasted - do the creators know how much time that takes when watching game highlights etc?

Its a joke when this happens, I usually just clear the cache and everything go's back to normal.
