hugo_rune
That's really awesome. I've only encountered grass pitches myself. Where is it? South America?
Mr_Whippy
I've never seen that before! When does a Portuguese team play on a Dirt pitch in real life?
phnompenhandy
For real, or have you installed DaWeed's pitch graphics?
Kriss
In Colombia most of the pitches are artificial, managers complaining about their condition is a weekly occurence in my game, and my board have just relayed ours for the second time in 6 seasons. JimbobWWFC
That is almost beach football!
Lawlore
Of course, the next logical conclusion is that when the ground gets sold so a Tesco Superstore can be built on it, FM will show you playing your matches in a car park. "Jumpers for goalposts, rush goalies... marvellous." - Ron Manager
Coentrao
It's on Portugal, was playing against a non-league team on a pre-season friendly. For real, or have you installed DaWeed's pitch graphics? Haven't installed anything.
KUBI
There are a lot of pitch types available in the game: Grass Synthetic (hard and soft type) Gravel Clay Sand and a combination of Gravel/Clay/Sand Its possible to change the pitches in the editor, if you want to test it out. Stampler
does it actually have an effect on the match?
phnompenhandy
does it actually have an effect on the match? It should do. Different surfaces such as wet, muddy, artificial affect the ball physics.

Unknown Hacker
Gravel?? No diving on that pitch.. Road rash is a more effective deterrent than fines by quite a long way.
Nottingham Forest
Gravel's a bloody horrible type of pitch to play on. Especially when you're playing against a team that uses unsportsman like behaviour . That pitch does look great though .
ReggaeBwoy
woow, that reminds me a few years ago when Chelsea beat Charlton 4-1, it was like a mud bath, btw did you ever see the ball gettin stuck in the pitch sometimes due to conditions? heathxxx
Most amateur clubs in Portugal and Spain have gravel, clay or sand (though all hard compacted surfaces), certainly in southern parts of those countries. It's simply because grass is very expensive and hard to maintain to a high standard, whilst installing astroturf can be very expensive. Although I've little knowledge about the lower leagues in Portugal (Vialonga in the image being a Portuguese amateur team), in Spain you'll rarely find anything other than grass or synthetic pitches at any club beneath Segunda B level. As a side note though, having played in a local amateur league on gravel pitches in Granada province for a village team, I can say this... you soon learn not to slide tackle... *ouch*
