Wayne Rooney given straight red in first match for what I can only describe as a kick that wouldn't look out of place in Streetfighter. Andy Carrol sent off with two yellows in second match for persistent fouling. Steven Gerrard, Kyle Walker, Phil Jones and Jack Rodwell, all suspended for match 3 (along with Carroll and Rooney) for cumulative yellow cards.
