FM 2012 Data Editor will not start after dl from steam

Hi all

newbie to the forum , and i will apologise if this has been covered.

i have downloaded the game from Steam, and that runs with 12.0.4. i then downloaded the Data Editor and then upon locating it, i click on the exe icon and it wont run. i get the win 7 error (Editor has stopped working). i ran it in xp mode to get an idea, and it says "essential files are missing/or corrupt". i have since, through steam, validated the game cache and defraged the game files (under the local file tab), restarted and it still will not work.

Any idea's??????

Machine

Toshiba c660d -- core i3 2.4gz, HD graphics card, 4GB Ram, (so spec is fine)

It DOES run the resource archiver thingy .

Unable to find Essential Data:

If you experience this message when attempting to start the game, configure the compatibility mode for Steam using these steps:

- Close Steam

- Right click on Steam shortcut

- Click "Properties"

- Choose the "Compatibility" tab

- Uncheck the box "Run in Compatibility mode for"

- Click on "OK" and then start Steam using the same shortcut

- You can now try the game

Yes, no joy mate, still will not run at all
