I didn't believe the people who complained about the amount of injuries...

Recommended Posts

I'm about 7 months into my game and it appears as though the injury problems are real. There are far too many. It's been a problem since the moment my game start and seems to be getting worse and worse. I currently have around 11 players injured. Also, around 2 players receive an injury during mostly every game. It is making my managing experience very difficult and I'm begging to get inpatient.

Did you see Steve Bruce complaining about an injury bug last season when virtually all of our defenders and strikers were out injured?

No you didn't.

There isn't an injury bug, you're either working your team too hard in training and therefore making them more likely to get injured or your just getting unlucky.

Stop whining and get on with the game.

The difference is this is happening to a huge amount of players. I really dont think you understand the extent of the injuries at my club, its constant. Around 10 players out at all times, when one recovers another becomes injured. Its a bug.

As to your horrendous conclusion, I am not working my team too hard in training.

I don't whine, I merely pass comment. Let me guess you've won all the major trophies and are the best manager in the world?

If it weren't for people frequently complaining about too many injuries I would be minded to complain the other way.

I've only ever had a single injury crisis since CM 00/01. I used to go to the effort of increasing injury frequencies by 2-3x. Now I simply download the injury extension fix every year. But still, I almost always have a clean bill of health.

It irritates me, because it allows me to get away with fairly tiny squads (~22 players) without ever being punished. It's like stealing cookie after cookie from the cookie jar and never having your parents reprimind you. It's goddamn disconcerting.

Backup CB - 1 months with Back Strain (In Training)

1st Choice ML - 5 months torn Calf Muscle (In Game)

1st Choice MR - 5 months torn Calf Muscle in the same game as the injury above (In Game)

1st Choice ML - 3 months broken ankle (In Game)

Backup M C - 1 month with Back Strain (In training)

1st Choice Striker - 3 week groin strain (Pre Season Game), Pulls Hamstring in first game back and is out for a month, on his next game back he tears a calf muscle and is out for 4 months

1st Choice Striker - Breaks Foot in Debut, out for 4 months

Backup MR - 1 month with Pulled Hamstring (Pre Season Game)

Hot Prospect ST - 3 months with Broke Ankle (In Game)

Backup ST - 2 months with Broken Wrist (Pre Season Game)

Backup MC - 1 month with Back Injury (In Training), 1 month gashed leg (In training)

1st Choice MC - 5 weeks with Twisted Ankle (In Game)

Backup ML - 5 weeks with Twisted Ankle (In Game)

Backup AM C- 2 months with Hip Injury (In Game)

1st Choice DL - 2 months with Hip Injury (Pre Season Game), 2x3 weeks Twisted Knee and Thigh Strain (Both In Game)

I've been getting a steady stream of injuries, yellow and red cards since I started the game. With the cards, I don't tackle aggressively and my players don't seem to have particularly aggressive attributes, so I am getting a bit suspicious about that one. The problem with injuries is that, although I keep telling myself that's football, I can never escape the niggling feeling it might be a bug. It just won't go away.

That list pretty much sums up my concerns with injuries on this version. It's not the amount, but the severity and type. I want to see more niggling injuries that keep a player out a few days or the odd week, not expecting 3+ months every time a player goes off the pitch or is hurt in training.

I definitely agree with this.

I haven't had massive injury problems.

Actually, though, this is a bit of an issue.

I'm having the opposite problem, I've got a big squad and few injuries so backup players are moaning about not getting any game time, I don't see any problems with injuries at all

me too, i have about 30 players, but because there is no injuries i use only like 15.. all others are very unhappy.. btw my training is very heavy

Seems just about right to me. I've played a few seasons now, had one big injury crisis with ten or eleven players out and one small one - not too many players overall out but all strikers meaning I didn't have a spare specialist striker on the bench for a couple of games - and the rest of the time two, three or four players out at any time. It seems pretty close to real life to me.

I'm on the 'no injury problems' list. I've had a couple of concerning times when it's overlapped that a couple of my wingers have been injured at the same time, but not (touch wood so far) had a major injury, and never more than a few players out injured. If you're having a constant injury crisis over the next 2-3 seasons, then there might be grounds for it, otherwise it my experience it's just bad luck.

Also, consider quality and quantity of physios, quality of pitch playing on, types of injuries (in games or in training?), what condition you are playing your players at etc.

I've not had this, but I do a lot of squad rotation and try to never play a player for a sat-weds-sat run of games unless I have one-off (hopefully) no choice. I will wait to put players returning from injury back on the pitch until they have done 7-10 days of full training as well. And tend to stay away from players who my scout tells me 'may have a problem with injuries'.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I've had no problems at all with injuries.

I mean of course, occasionally my star player or even a few star players get injured, but I've never seen anything like the numbers mentioned in this thread.

I'm in my 7th season now too and have managed at both the bottom end and top end of the league.

I can only reiterate what others have said, i.e. make sure that your match preparation isn't too high, that your training isn't too intense (particularly the fitness stuff I think) and if you have the squad for it then try to rotate a bit. Unless it's a huge game that I must win then I very rarely play players with a condition of 95% or under.

it is crazy, in 1 game i had TWO right backs injured in 1 half.. that is a hard place to fill.

there is also a crazy ammount of broken bones.

Ask Steve Kean about injuries.

Against Sunderland two left backs were injured by half time, a right back (who was playing right midfield) injured before the hour, and a central midfielder (who was playing right back) injured before the game was up!!

Reminds me a lot of what happened to Derby this season and over the last few. They've made it past the 16 first team injuries at least twice in the last 3 seasons and past 10 horrifyingly often. It happens in real life, get used to it.

7 months into the game, and you already KNOW there's an injury bug? That's not how statistics work.

Come back after 5 or preferably 10 seasons, then we can talk. 7 months says absolutely NOTHING. I've also had a season with lots of injuries, but most seasons are totally normal. It's either random chance when you have a bad run of injurires, or their training is too hard, or you play the players when they're already tired.

i can prove a point.

you get what, 2-3 broken bones in a countrys leagues per season

If you're going to make a statement like that in order to prove a point, then you need to back it up else the point is not proven.

At the moment, according to Physio Room

Arsenal: Sagna - Broken Leg

Bolton: Mears - Broken Leg, Lee - Broken Leg

Swansea: Tate - Broken Leg

And that's just the broken legs, with the season yet to pass the halfway point. There's the possibility that there are many more broken bones to come.

After one month playing in the African Nations, 12 of my 23 players had spent some time injured, including 4 who were out for the entire tournament after just my 2nd match.

That said, I read a stat somewhere that Phil Jones is the only outfield Man Utd player not to have been injured at some point this season? It happens, I was probably just unlucky.

Started a game with Motts Co intending to play 442 and ended up using 451 due to injuries. All with standard training so in my view injuries our over the top especially, as an observation, injuring players in same position in same game.

So, I'm now into the 3rd season of my game and the injuries problem still hasn't cleared up. I get what people say about it happens on occassions in real life and sometimes managers are just unlucky. But! This has been and underlying problem for 2 years now in my game and is happening again in my 3rd season. I am currently in December and almost every game 2 of my players have to be substituted due to injury. I currently have 6 of my regulars out on long term injuries and my squad just isn't large enough to deal with it.

Like I said in my original post, when 1 player recovers another becomes injured. I can see that not everyone is experiencing these injuries but maybe I'm not the "unlucky" one, maybe they are "lucky" to not be having these issues like many others. I mean 3 seasons in a row, that cannot be coincidence.

At least these may help ease the pain:

- Fixed cases of a player deciding to retire due to injury at the end of the season but still coming back and playing rest of the season after recovering from injury

- Adjusted the injury related retirements to make high earning players more likely to fight back from serious injuries

- Adjusted the impact of very long injuries on abilities of older players so they won't decline too much

Whatever updates have been made have clearly not worked went on last night and am struggling for players financially anyway but my two first choice strikers both were injured in training with torn calf muscles and hamstrings respectivley. My training is not extreme. I now have 9 players out of a squad of 23 with Injuries!

Made a thread up top but then seen this, another injury to my star striker (broke arm) has seen my injuries up to 11 in 4 games.

I noticed players are not happy with the training levels (i dont know if its too high or low) but training is only on medium and due to my restrictions on coaches the workload is light. One player is unhappy with the level of fitness coaching. Is this the reason im gettin hammered with injuries?

I go through bad patches at times but find injuries to be reasonably realistic. In my Malaga save I signed David Silva for £50 million and he suffered ligament damage less than 10 games into his Malaga career which saw him ruled out for 8 months, next game another new signing Jesus Navas broke his leg, I also had another 5 players out for 2 months or more. I just get on with it and can only speak from personal experience in that I have only ever had one injury crisis.
