January Games

Burton 2-2 Ten Ton FC
Martin Pilkington gave Burton the lead on the half hour mark, and we left it until the 70th minute to get a goal back, Pilkington put Burton ahead with 1 minute of normal time left, but Ross Bannon equalised in injury time.

Ten Ton FC 3-0 Halifax
John McDonald gave us the lead after 33 minutes, and 3 minutes after half-time David Mulholland doubled the lead. Ishmael Reeves made sure of our victory on the hour mark, with a great shot from outside the area.

Ten Ton FC 3-1 Nuneaton - FAT 2nd Round
James Dunn gave us the lead after 24 minutes, and 4 minutes later Mark McCombe got our second. Ishmael Reeves added to this on 34 minutes. Adam Threlfall started a comeback for Nuneaton after scoring 5 minutes after the break, but the comeback was never really going to happen for the away side.

Salisbury 1-0 Ten Ton FC
The game was a very poor one for us, and Gary Brridge's 24th minute strike was the only difference between the two teams.

Ten Ton FC 1-1 Weymouth
Stephen Roche missed a penalty after 12 minutes, but comfortably slotted in the rebound to give us the lead. Chris Williams levelled things up 2 minutes after half time, and despite both sides attacking pushes, the game ended in a draw.

We are now 15th, playoffs look unlikely, but not completely out of reach (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON8.jpg)

PoopyPants - I use megaupload for uploading files. It's quick and easy and you don't have to register. Similarly to imageshack.

Unlucky Paul, as least there will be something for me to work with next season.

February Games

Ten Ton FC 2-2 Torquay - FAT 3rd Round
Guy Gibb gave the visitors the lead after 10 minutes, and doubled it in first half injury time. James Dunn scored our first 10 minutes into the second half, and left it late 'till the 83rd minute to score our equaliser. The game will therefore go into a replay.

Ten Ton FC 3-2 Grays - SS 5th Round
Stephen Roche gave us the lead after 27 minutes, however 10 minutes later Fraser Kenyon equalised. Liam Lawson put us ahead 10 minutes from the end, but Alvin Pratt got Grays back in it with 5 minutes left. Billy Barratt got the winner with 3 minutes left, a great goal, which means we will be in the Setanta Shield quarter finals!

Forest Green 1-3 Ten Ton FC
Mark McCombe gave us the lead after 10 minutes, yet Forest Green's equaliser didn't come until the 51st minute. Ishmael Reeves scored on the 77th minute, and James Dunn made sure of victory 5 minutes from the end.

Ten Ton FC 2-1 Bristol Rovers
Mark McCombe gave us an unlikely lead in first half injury time, yet Mark Mahon equalised for Rovers 10 minutes from the end. It looked like we were going to draw, but Liam Lawson scored in injury time, to give us an unlikely win.

Torquay 3-1 Ten Ton FC - FAT 3rd round replay
James Dunn gave us the lead after half an hour, and it looked like we were through until David Todd equalised in the 89th minute. David Todd gave them the lead in the 104th minute, and Paul Ashton confirmed our exit with his 120th minute penalty.

Ten Ton FC 4-1 Kidderminster
Gary Gray gave us the lead after 3 minutes, and Billy Barratt gave us a second after 38 minutes. James Dun wrapped up the half with our third goal. Eddie Ridley restored some hope for the away team with a goal 20 minutes from time, but 5 minutes later James Dunn put the nail in the coffin with a decent enough goal.

Ten Ton FC 3-2 Crawley - SS 1/4 final
Ross Bannon gave us the lead after 8 minutes, and James Dunn made it 2-0 after 22 minutes. Earl Neville gave Crawley a goal 10 minutes later, and he equalised 2 minutes into the second half. Ross Bannon confirmed our win on the 63rd minute, despite more than enough time left, Crawley didn't launch a comeback, and we had made it to the semi finals.

Southport 0-2 Ten Ton FC
James Dunn gave us the lead after 3 minutes, and Ross Bannon doubled it half an hour later. Despite enough time, the home side weren't up to any sort of comeback.

Cambridge 2-2 Ten Ton FC
Matthew Underwood gave Cambridge the lead after 12 minutes, but 15 minutes later James Dunn equalised for us. Luke Morris gave Cambridge the lead once more in the 36th minute, but Stephen Roche equalised for us 10 minutes into the second half. The game ended all square.

We began the month, with little hope of promotion, but ended it 3 points off of 6th place. (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON9.jpg)

Been away for the last two weeks with work and was hoping to see the softies in the football league on my return. Well at least we have consolidated our place in the BSP http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Good luck next season dafuge, have you have inherited a decent squad and is it still at a respectable size? (i.e less than 35/40)

Poopy, did you retain the services of Driver and Talbot?
How did they do for you last season? Any new promising players to keep an eye on?

Looking forward to my next go at this, hopefully it will be in league two!!

End of my Ten Ton FC season

League Table (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON10.jpg)
So, despite being 15th in January and looking pretty much out of contention for the play-offs, we managed to get within 3 points of 5th place, heartbreaking really, as at one point during our final game we were actually 5th.

Finances (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON11.jpg) - Made about a 150K profit, not bad.

Manager Overview (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON12.jpg) - You can see our fantastic SS run.

I was really pleased with the squad I had, and despite signing a few players, none where as good as the original members of the team. A few new records were recorded, Most goals record going to James Dunn, and Most appearances going to Ishmael Reeves. Dunn also smashed the most amount of goals scored in a season too.

Team Selection (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON20.jpg)
Ross Bannon (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON19.jpg) - A brilliant player for his age, making 17 starting and 21 substitute appearances, scoring 12 goals, and getting 6 assists. If we can hang onto him, he will turn out into something VERY good.

Mark McCombe (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON18.jpg) - 40 starting and 9 substitute, scoring 15 goals and getting 7 assists, a great player, and still fairly young too.

Stephen Roche (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON15.jpg) - Great player, 52 appearances, 8 goals and 14 assists. The second best player in the squad imo.

James Dunn (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON13.jpg) - Indescribable, simply amazing player.Overall 54 appearances, 52 goals, 11 assists, and 18 MOTM's. We HAVE to keep him, if we sell him we will lose at least half of the team imo.

He also looks like a different player compared to Nep's screenie of him (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=TENTON14.jpg)

Well, that was my season, many lows, many highs, and a season of unfortunate events tbh.

Whoever is next should imo, win the league, playoffs the least, with a squad like that and the players developing, league football is within touching distance.

I'll put the file up shortly http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Just went back to find Dunn 2 years ago compared to now...you can where his improvement has come from, his mental stats have really shot up, esp. composure and off the ball...can see why he's become so lethal.

How many does he have so far? Think that might be a bit ambitious...if nothing else, he's awesome at this level but would struggle in too high a division.

Maybe worth pinging an email to poopypants if he doesn't show up soon?

PaulHartman71

91 league goals in 3 seasons, and he's still only 22, getting better each year too. 1000 bit ambitious I suppose, but I think he will get a lot of goals.

It seems to be working fine.

The one thing that strikes me is when I left the team a few season ago they had a team of youngsters all on full time contracts, now they have a lot of older players and everyone apart from Tim Phillips is on a part time deal.

Jermaine Blackburn looks like a decent player, I think I'll build my team around him.

Robert Murray (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/murray.jpg) - gutted to think someone sold him for £24k http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

bermybhoy
27-05-2008, 04:21
It's frustrating, but that's the way the game is.

I've said quite a few times, 'please make sure players are on full time contracts' but I don't imagine this has been the case. It's one of the quirks of the game actually, that when the club is semi-pro, it defaults to part time for any contract negotiations, even if the player is already on a full time one. Still, just takes a second to change it to full time. I'm sure we'd get on better is all the players were full time.

May 2013 Review - Legends FC

Obviously there have been no games in this month so it was all about assessing the squad and thinking about possible transfer targets.

If offered full time contracts to all the players who I think I will use (11 so far) and sold quite a few players who clearly were not going to be used. I somehow managed to get £70k for a striker who has barely played for the club (Leon Heslop), the coaches didn't rate him at all so I've no idea why he was worth too much, especially since he spent the season in the reserves and didn't start the game.

I've brought in a new keeper but he's nothing special, he's really just cover after I sold one of them.

I've got a new feeder club in Hitchin, which should be pretty useful if I need to loan anyone out as they finished 2nd in the BSS this season.

June should be a bit more interesting as I start to bolster the squad.

June 2013 Review - Legends FC

The first batch of signings has been made, this lot have all been recommended by my scouts and coaches.

Gary Archer (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/archer.jpg)
Richard Ball (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ball.jpg)
Steve Beesley (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/beesley.jpg)
Jordan Connor (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/connor.jpg)
Michael Cook (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/cook.jpg)
Ken Hendley (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hendley.jpg)
Luke Sykes (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sykes.jpg)

The two keepers will start as backup, one of the strikers might start alongside Blackburn and the two wingers and the full back will probably go into the first team at some point.

I'm still looking for additions to the squad, a left back and a defensive midfielder are the priorities. I could also do with a new centre back.

Forgot a couple who I sold in May:

Dean Jones £1k
Antony Richardson £3k

Talbot only scored 11 times last season with an average rating of 6.79, I was pretty confident I could find someone who could do better than that and clubs were interested in him. At the moment my hopes are on Ken Hendley, should be interesting to see what he can do.

Francis was 36 and didn't play a single game last season, his physical attributes were shot so I didn't think I could get anything out of him.

Richardson was sold because he plays MC and I prefer a DMC and AMC, I've never had much luck retraining players and prefer to keep players in their natural positions.

I'm off out in a bit so I won't get through July soon, might be able to do it much later on tonight though.

July 2013 Review - Legends FC

A few new signings came in as I tried to plug a few gaps:

Stuart Dolan (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/dolan.jpg)
Anthony Dunphy (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/dunphy.jpg)
Richard Watson (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/watson.jpg)

And one more I've got rather excited about. After the success of SI employee Olly Kenney, I bring you:

ter (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ter.jpg)

My coaches think he could become a decent League 1 defender so he's definitely one for the future.

Pre season friendlies have started:

Chester (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/chester.jpg)

A rather impressive win over our League 1 parent club.

Merthyr Tydfil (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/merthyr.jpg)
Bognor Regis (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bognor.jpg)

A couple of convincing wins over lower league opposition.

Cray (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/cray.jpg)

A not so convincing win over a team I've never heard of, although I did put a weak team out.

August 2013 Review - Legends FC

My transfer dealings are done for the year with all my effort now on the league with the current squad.

The pre season friendlies rounded off with a 2-1 win over Garforth and a 2-1 loss at Hitchin.

League Results:

Halifax 1-2 Legends
Brantford 1-1 Legends

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-5.jpg)

It certainly looks like it will be an interesting season with goals flying in everywhere. Giving away three penalties in my first two games was a bit of a worry though.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-6.jpg)

Jermaine Blackburn is doing the business as predicted. Jon Williams is runnning the show from AMC so it looks like Chris Driver might spend the season at DM.

Things were going well until after the Lewes match when disaster struck (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/disaster.jpg). This was the player I was building my team around so this was a massive blow, especially since he had been on such good form.

Knowing I had to replace him, I came across this gem:

Steve Wright (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/wright.jpg)

With three goals in his first two games it looks like I may have a replacement. the thought of having the two of them together later on in the season scares me.

A quiet month where I went unbeaten but still lost ground on Rochdale, unfortunately it looks unlikely that we will challenge for the title this year.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-9.jpg)

After a poor run with just one goal in seven games, Steve Wright hit back with a hattrick against Aldershot. Craig Hunter has signed his first professional contract, signing full time for five years. His performances haven't exactly been outstanding but I think giving him plenty of games will help him so hopefully he should hit form next season.

A small bit of transfer news, after making just one appearance defender Stuart Dolan has joined Hitchin on loan. I've also sold Andrew Ellis. I didn't really want to sell him but he was unhappy as he wasn't getting in the team and was put on the transfer list by request. He was on pretty high wages and Hayes & Yeading offered £85k (over 24 months), I would be pretty stupid to turn that down.

A fantastic result against Rochdale, with the winner coming from Steve Wright thanks to a defensive mix up in the 93rd minute. The bad news is that Chris Driver is unhappy. Doncaster made a bid of £240k which I rejected, he is now unhappy about not being allowed to move clubs. I desperately want to keep him, he has been running the game like Pirlo from the DM position with Jon Williams sitting in front him in the AMC position. My coaches think both of these players would be leading stars for any Championship side.

I've only just realised I signed Jon Williams in my first stint at the club http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I've gone from title challengers to playoff outsiders http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Bit of a disaster but it could have been much worse, those three losses at the start of the month meant I was clinging on to my playoff place. Luckily results went my way but going away to Rochdale after two losses was a bit nervy.

The playoff semi final has given me a tough draw, Rochdale. Despite looking like the team most likely to win the league, my results against Rochdale have been pretty good with a 1-0 win at home and a 1-1 draw away.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-14.jpg)

My main worry is the first leg at home to Rochdale, as you can see both Craig Hunter and Chris Driver have a one match suspension and will miss the game.

Some good news - the board are finally pleased with the job I'm doing and have finally offered me a new contract, which they refused to earlier in the season. I could only get two years out of them but it is better than nothing.

BSP playoff semi leg 2 (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/semi2-3.jpg)

Went out with the intention of time wasting and making things hard for them and managed to get a penalty which was scored.

In the final I will be playing Notts County, who I have already played three times this season:

League (away) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/away.jpg)
Setanta Shield (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/setanta.jpg)
League (home) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/home.jpg)

Not sure what to make of that, I played a weakened side in the Setanta Shield, the home game was in the middle of my bad patch and the away game was settled by a goal in the 92nd minute.

Team news is looking good with just Craig Hunter set to miss out through injury, although Paddy Byrne has done a decent job stepping in for him in a few big games this season.

The bookies are making Notts County favourites at 5/4, with the Legends as 7/4 outsiders. It should be close but the Legends are just one game away from the Football League http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Season 2013/14 Review - Legends FC in the Blue Square Premier

Since the playoff loss in 2009, Legends FC have suffered a torrid time in the Blue Square Premier, finishing 18th, 11th, 17th and 15th. It was my job to try and end this run and bring some pride back to the name of the legendary Danny Roberts.

Final League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-14.jpg)
League Positions Graph (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leaguepos-3.jpg)

After a decent start I soon found that the club was going to achieve more than the top half finish I had set out to get. With two thirds of the season gone the Legends were genuine title contenders but things slipped and in the end we had to settle for the last playoff place.

BSP playoff semi leg 1 (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/semi1-2.jpg)
BSP playoff semi leg 2 (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/semi2-3.jpg)

BSP playoff final (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/final-3.jpg)

The memories of 2009 had been banished, Legends FC were in the football league!

A few interesting screenshots:

Transfers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/transfers-6.jpg)

One of the reasons the club is in such a good financial position is my dealings in the transfer market this season. Not spending a penny on players and raising £165k though sales has helped to make a tidy profit of around £300k this season.

Squad info (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squadnat.jpg)

GK - Andrew Matthews (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/matthews.jpg)

Signed on a free in 2010/11, this was his best season yet, replaceable though.

DR - Jordan Connor (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/connor-1.jpg)

Signed on free at the start of this season, he did pretty well and the coaches think he could be good enough for League 2 but I'm not so sure.

DL - Anthony Dunphy (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/dunphy-1.jpg)

Another free at the start of this season, I would look to replace him. He doesn't look very happy either.

DC - Simon Holgate (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/holgate.jpg)

Signed in 2009/10, he was the rock at the centre of my defence. The coaches don't rate him that highly but I think he could step up to league football next season.

DC - Craig Hunter (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hunter.jpg)

I got quite excited when I signed him, not just because he shares ter's name but because he looked like an amazing 16 year old. Nearly a year on and I'm not so sure, I wouldn't sell him but I wouldn't plan your defence around him just yet.

DM - Chris Driver (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/driver-1.jpg)

Superb player signed in the 2010/11 season. Can play in a variety of midfield roles but I found that he was awesome as a creative DM.

MR - Steve Beesley (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/beesley-1.jpg)

Signed at the start of the season as I like to use natural wingers, he did pretty well but he's replaceable.

ML - Luke Sykes (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sykes-1.jpg)

Same as above really, only Luke was more effective.

AMC - Jon Williams (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/williams.jpg)

Along with Chris Driver, Jon is one of the two best players in the squad. Signed by myself in 2008/09 he should be good for a few more seasons and like Driver is rated as Championship standard by the coaches.

ST - Steve Wright (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/wright-1.jpg)

Was brought in as an emergency replacement when Jermaine Blackburn got injured, did well but didn't quite live up to expectations. Finished the season off playing in a wide right role.

ST - Jermaine Blackburn (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/blackburn.jpg)

The best striker in the squad by some distance, just a shame I lost him to injury for four months. Was signed on a free in 2010/11 and this has been his most prolific season, despite the injury.

Sub - Jeff Ross (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ross.jpg)

Joined the club last season on a free and was pretty awful, the only reason he's still here is because I couldn't find a decent left back. Filled in when Dunphy got injured and actually did alright but a new left back is definitely needed.

Sub - Tim Phillips (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/phillips.jpg)

Original member of the Legend FC team and club legend, I'm just wondering what he did to get himself removed from the club's favoured personnel list. Did pretty well as a sub early on in the season but was pretty awful later on.

Sub - Ken Hendley (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hendley-1.jpg)

Another free signing this season, he had a decent scoring record but kept clearing off to play for Wales U-21s. He lost his place when Steve Wright signed and Jermaine Blackburn returned from injury.

I've really enjoyed this season and want to thank bermybhoy for such a good idea http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Well done dafuge, a brilliant result to end the season. You've assembled a great squad, i though your signings looked promising!

Wright and Blackburn up front look class, can we have a screenshot of blackburn?
Him and Driver were my best two signings when i had my year, its great to see them doing the business again.

Is Driver still unhappy or has the promotion cheered him up? I played him in a defensive midfield role as well and he seems to just control games from the middle of the park.
Im glad the chairman didnt sell him over your head, 240k is quite a big bid at that level.

Im due after elf, so if he doesn't turn up i will step up next. Hopefully he doesnt (no offence elf) as I fancy the first year in league two with the legends as a fair few of my signings are still at the club.

Excellent, although dafuge posted just before you, so I reckon that would make him 12th and you, unlucky 13th. Hope you don't get them relegated or something awful http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm happy to go 13th, I've already had two seasons, I really shouldn't be ahead of anyone who hasn't had a go yet.

I've had a mixed start so far but I think I've got together a tactic that appears to be doing well so hopefully I can push on into the playoffs.

I'm sitting mid-table in mid-September but only a win or two off the playoffs.

Legends Season 8 - Pre Season

Just finished pre season with 5 straight wins, two against league one opposition (Gillingham and Chester) and 3 against lower league sides. That said a couple of the wins were lucky to say the least and we look quite vulnerable at the back.

I've added 7 players to the squad and released just 3.
Here are my additions;
White (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/white.jpg)
Sawyer (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/sawyer.jpg)
Mcmaster (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/mcmaster.jpg)
Martinez (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/martinez.jpg)
Lucas (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/Lucas.jpg)
LLoyd (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/lloyd.jpg)
Dunning (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm245/spc1485/dunning.jpg)

The most promising player is Sawyer who hopefully will do well on in the wide right berth. Lucas still has good stats for a 31 year old and hopefully he can stay fit.

Throughout preseason I have kept with dafuges diamond formation with a few slight changes.

Paddy Byrne's contract ended, a goalkeeper who was in the reserves and a guy who turned 17were the 3 that left. Got a few more on the transfer list as well.

All through the summer hunter, driver, williams and blackburn were attracting bids from several league one clubs but they were going nowhere. Just hoping the chairman doesnt step in, doncaster have now bidded 500k for driver although im sticking with your asking price of £5million http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Overall im very happy with the squad and if i could find a decent goalkeeper i would feel more confident of the season ahead. One other area of weakness may be a left winger though im going to give sykes a chance.

Did you play the same formation home and away?

One final note is that the training facilities are in the progress of being upgraded, it cost me 3 signings over the summer so it will be gratefully recieved when it is completed.

I left Paddy Byrne's contract due to expire as I didn't think I'd keep him, he actually did alright in the games he played but he was easily replaceable, I think I'd have let him go myself.

£500k is a massive bid for Driver but I think you were right to reject, the club is in a good financial position and doesn't need to sell its best players. If you can keep hold of those three players you should stand a good chance of keeping the club in the football league.

A goalkeeper was one position I tried to strengthen but it turned out that Matthews was the best of them all. If you can find much better then go for it.

I played that formation for the whole season, I only ever changed things during a match when it really needed to be done.

Nice to hear that the training facilities are being upgraded, I requested that earlier in the season but got told that the club wasn't in teh financial position to do it which I couldn't believe.

Good luck with the season, I think staying in League 2 would be a reasonable aim for the season.

The ability of the side is there but we're struggling for consistency as we go into November. Hovering around midtable just a few points out the playoffs waiting to pounce so we're still in a good position. If we make the playoffs I'll be delighted with my season's work, even if we don't get promoted. Aslong as we're not going in the wrong direction and making progress then things are fine.

And we just drew 2-2 with League 1 Coventry in the 1st Round of the FA Cup. Great game.

Sounds like a decent start aaberdeenn, made many changes to the squad?

Some decent signings and good friendly results Spc1485. Although I still mainly use them for match fitness, I have concluded that it's important to win the last few at least, as it seems to have a fair bit of effect on morale. 5 wins should have them in good form going into the season.

made many changes to the squad?

Nothing substantial. I got rid of a bit of the dead weight and I've brought in 3 players if my memory serves me. A back up goalkeeper on loan from Stoke. A first choice central midfielder from Aston Villa and Turkish right winger on a free who has electric pace.

I'm also playing a counter attacking 4-1-4-1 formation which has served me quite well so far.

Oh, and I've signed an 18 year old right back from Boston who's become first choice actually. I knew I'd forget someone.

Whenever we got a good result we played awfully the next game. Finances are great. There were a few standout performers over the season. Everyone else was around average really. James Dunn is a legend scoring 51 goals in the season.

That's a lot of goals at either end. Looks like we need to tighten the defence up a bit and somehow find some consistency.

Some haul for Dunn - that must be 100 goals in that last 2 seasons now.

If DodgeeD can confirm he's good to go for the next season that would be awesome.

Looks a good start. Hope the form continues into the league. What tactics did you use then?

Still going pretty well for the Softies as well, play-offs would be very impressive.

Legends - January

Legends 3-2 Port Vale (FAC3R)
Lincoln 4-1 Legends
Legends 5-2 Barnet
Legends 4-3 Luton
Crewe 2-4 Legends (FAC4R)
Legends 2-1 Dag & Red
Rushden 1-4 Legends

Pos 8th Pld 30 Pts 48 GF 70 GA 57

Just one point off the playoffs now with a game in hand and only 7 (with a game in hand) off the last automatic spot. Finally seem to have found some form away, hopefully it will last.

FA Cup 5th Round Draw

Legends v Leeds (PRM) or Reading (CHM)
Was praying for one of the top 4 but maybe we can make it to wembley now!

Goals Update
Lucas 25
Blackburn 16
Wright 10
Williams 8

Best month yet, not surprising as blackburn is fit again and starting to score frequently. New signings are bedding in well with the exception of the keeper and more importanbtly no major players were sold.

Great pre-season Frazza. I wouldn't really use that tacitc I had, either. It wasn't great. Its not the one I was using throughout the season, and only used it late on due to player injuries. But if its working for you, keep it.!! http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Some fantastic results in pre-season, hopefully you can carry that form into the league.!

August update

End of August and end of transfer Market with two players coming in and 4 leaving on frees. I brought in an English striker called Billy Webster as back-up on a free transfer and Jermaine Hall An Irish CB at the age of 17 for 45k from Eastleigh.

Results

As far as results went it was an eh season. in the 5 games we played there was one loss one draw and 3 wins.

Darlington 3-1 Ten Ton FC

Ten Ton FC 3-1 Histon

Ten Ton FC 4-1 Wrexham

kettering 3-3 Ten Ton FC

Ten Ton FC 2-0 Crawley.

The results means Ten Ton FC are in 4th place after 5 games. Interestingly Crystal Palace are top of the EPL.

Legends Update - February

Since my last update the Legends have won two and lost two in the league and also gone out of the FA cup 3-2 to Reading.

Unfortunately I found out at work today that I have to go away to cover someone till the end of next week as of tommorow. Was really enjoying my 2nd season and had an outside shot of the playoffs although couldnt quite tell my boss that FM should take priority!

We are currently 2 points off the playoffs i think, although have a tough run in with more away games than at home so the reach the playoffs is a tough ask.

Anyway below I have uploaded the saved game and would appreciate if someone would step up to the plate and complete the season as dont want to see it go to waste.

Saved Game (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XUMW6SPG)

A quick report on the team, my preferred starting eleven is;

Matthews / Whittingham GK (Both bad as each other)

Peel RB New signing
Holagate CB
McMaster CB
Dunning / White DL

MR Sawyer
ML Williams
DMC / MC Driver
AMC Paxton

ST BLackburn
ST Lucas, although he is injured currently so i play Howell or Wright.

Good Luck and look forward to seeing how the season turns out!

Can't think who Cook is. What does his coach report say? If they reckon he's a League 2 player or best in his position or something then best keep him. Otherwise make sure you get plenty money for him.

But players have bad games, especially in this league. And as for the GK - if you've got a better replacement, then, and only then I'd consider selling him, otherwise, who else are you going to use?

03-06-2008, 16:54
Oh...is he the 18 or 19 year old goalkeeper? You should probably hold onto him, he looked promising. Even if he makes mistakes now, he'll come good in a few years. Keep him as backup.

aaberdeenn
03-06-2008, 18:36
He was 18 at the end of my season I just finished and had U21 caps for to his name. He's good for the level and WILL get better.

aaberdeenn
03-06-2008, 18:37
And this selling of players because of one bad game is completely ludicrous. Although you are in charge remember it is only for one season and you need to think about the best interests of the club's future and not just what you think at the time.

Well...up to those who've managed the Softies I guess.

Choices are:
a) Wait for elf_30, let him finish the season and play the next one
b) Let Robert finish the current season with a decent chance of promotion
c) Play it out on holiday mode with the existing players and tactics selected

As it stands right now, I am unavailable till late afternoon Sunday, son's grad party this weekend and some traveling to get there.

I will take the rest of the season and do the next if you would like, but cant start until Sunday late night/monday afternoon.

Sorry I wasnt here sooner.

There's not been much input on the subject. I'm warming to Dafuge's idea of holidaying to the end of the season from the perspective that so far no-one else has had a go of managing any more than one season at a time. If we go down that road I'd be willing to download the save and run it on holiday, ready for elf on Sunday.

Does anyone have any strong feeling on the matter?

NepentheZ
06-06-2008, 08:11
Once again, our own brilliance is bounded by the forum. Theres just not enough people who frequent the Challenges forum, to be able to take this where we wanted. At the beginning, I honestly thought I'd be lucky to get 1 turn every 10 seasons, but its almost every 3 or 4 seasons now.

Perhaps "Advertising" the save game idea would bring some interest to it? I've got no problems with people holidaying it either, if its what needs to be done.

Just a shame that all the hype from page 1 has gone http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

dave safc
06-06-2008, 08:17
Yeah, i 'm happy for you to just holiday until the end of the season and then let elf take over from that point.

bermybhoy
06-06-2008, 08:24
What would you suggest in terms of 'advertising' Nep? I'm not sure putting a banner at the top (like there was for the Bandits) would necessarily help, because as you say this is entirely limited by the amount of people who frequent the forum; I think anyone who's a regular must know about this. Do you mean across other forums?

It has occurred to me in the past that it might almost fit better in the stories forum, but the level of detail on this is far short of what you see there. Perhaps it might be possible to get some of the tactics forum regulars keen to show what they can do? I dunno.

It did occur to me if you stuck something similar in OTF it would potentially go down a treat...however if it wasn't done by someone well up in the popularity stakes it would undoubtably bomb.

NepentheZ
06-06-2008, 08:31
Yea nothing in the form of banners, bermy, just some word of mouth among the members of the forum that perhaps don't come into this forum, but are frequent FM players, and forumites. I know a few on the GD forum that may be interested. OTF I wouldn't be too sure about, I'm not sure how many of them actually play FM http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
