Legends FC - November

Newcastle vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/newcastle-8.jpg)

Another big game against 3rd placed Newcastle, the Hox came off the bench to save us.

Olympiakos vs Legends (Champions League Group C) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/olympiakos-1.jpg)

A convincing victory.

Legends vs Liverpool (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/liverpool-5.jpg)

This was a massive top of the table clash, a win was a must if we were going to retain the title. Vigier was on top form once again as he led the team to a magnificent victory.

Sunderland vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sunderland-5.jpg)

A tough game against a team who seem to like playing against the league leaders. In the end I was quite pleased to get away with a point.

Legends vs Sporting CP (Champions League Group C) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sporting-1.jpg)

As I was hoping, we had already qualified so I sent the kids out. They well to get the draw and they were unlucky to win after a fantastic free kick from Danny Duffy.

Legends vs Swindon (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/swindon-4.jpg)

A poor result as we conceded a goal from a direct free kick with the last kick of the ball. Looking ta the stats, we were lucky to even get a draw.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-70.jpg)

Despite the draw with Swindon, we went top as Liverpool lost to Villa.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-73.jpg)

Everyone is happy and playing well, if we can just look a bit more convincing against the weaker teams we should be good for the title.

CL Group (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/clgroup-2.jpg)

With four straight wins we have the luxury of qualifying with two games left in which the reserves and youngsters can get a bit of experience.

Legends FC - December

Legends vs Sunderland (Carling Cup quarter final) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sunderland-6.jpg)

Sunderland gave us a good game last time we met so I thought I'd take this opportunity to put out the kids and see how they did. To be honest, we could do without the Carling Cup fixtures at the moment. Once again, the reserves did the job with Bruno starring once again. It has given me some extra fixtures I didn't want but in Arsene style I will be sticking by the kids all the way in this competition. We've drawn Arsenal in the semi final, who are in 3rd position in the league.

Legends vs Aston Villa (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/villa-5.jpg)

Absolute brilliance, this was exactly the sort of performance we have been threatening all season.

PSG vs Legends (Champions League group C) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/psg-1.jpg)

Once again, since we had already qualified a weak team was put out. For once, the reserves suffered a defeat but it was nice to put out a team including a few players from the youth system.

Legends vs Portsmouth (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/portsmouth-2.jpg)

An incredible game in which we had 13 shots on target to their 11, if only we had put away a few more of the early ones this could have been a demolition.

Fulham vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/fulham-4.jpg)

A poor result, we didn't really deserve to lose this game by that margin. That's our first loss in eleven league games.

Legends vs Middlesbrough (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/boro-3.jpg)

A superb first half performance was enough to see Middlesbrough off.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-71.jpg)

Despite the loss to Fulham we are hanging on to top spot.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-74.jpg)

Eder and Vigier are playing some great football which is one of the reasons for our good form.

CL Group (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/clgroup-3.jpg)

We qualified easily and in the next round we will meet the current holders and the team we beat in teh Super Cup, Werder Bremen.

Just had a bid of £12.25m + 30% for Daniel Pacheco.

He's a 27 year old central midfielder, he's good in that position but my formation does not use them.

I want to accept it, any objections?

Robert_296
01-11-2008, 00:49
I liked him but considering the fact that we aren't likely to get another season any time soon (:p) sell him as you won't use him

roberto922
01-11-2008, 00:54
I'd sell him tbh.

dafuge
01-11-2008, 01:06
Slight change of plan, a few teams offered him a contract as he could move on a Bosman so I renewed his contract. If a big bid comes in I might still sell him but it looks like he's staying for now.

Legends FC - January

Arsenal vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/arsenal-7.jpg)

Giving them a 5-0 head start wasn't the best of moves.

York vs Legends (FA Cup 3rd round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/york.jpg)

Once again a weakened side was put out and they did the job thanks to the Hox. We'll meet either Rochdale or Bristol Rovers in the next round which will give me another chance to put the kids out.

Arsenal vs Legends (Carling Cup semi final leg 1) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/arsenalcc1.jpg)

I put the kids out again and they did quite well. There's still a chance of them reaching the final.

Legends vs Leeds (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leeds-5.jpg)

Another narrow victory in a game we should have won easily.

Colchester vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/colchester-5.jpg)

Made hard work over what should have been an easy win.

Legends vs Arsenal (Carling Cup semi final leg 2)
The reserves went out and did an amazing job, they deserve to start the final.

Legends vs Bristol Rovers (FA Cup 4th round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bristol.jpg)

The Hox led the reserves to yet another victory. We've drawn Arsenal away in the next round.

Legends vs Norwich (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/norwich-3.jpg)

Resting players seemed to pay off as we destroyed 6th placed Norwich.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-72.jpg)

Liverpool had a hard run of games, losing away to both Man Utd and Chelsea, this means we are now four points clear at the top.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-75.jpg)

Vigier is on great form, as is Forster.

Legends FC - February

Legends vs Man Utd (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/manutd-4.jpg)

Another good game for Vigier saw us beat an impressive Man Utd team.

Derby vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/derby-6.jpg)

David Ross grabbed his first goal of the season from a free kick to set up the win for us.

Arsenal vs Legends (FA Cup 5th round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/arsenal-8.jpg)

With the focus firmly on the Champions League I put the second string out again in the cup but unfortunately they couldn't repeat the Carling Cup semi final result.

Werder Bremen vs Legends (Champions League 1st knockout round leg 1) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bremen-1.jpg)

We were lucky to get the draw, hopefully that will be enough for us to finish the job off at home.

Chelsea vs Legends (Carling Cup final) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/chelseacc.jpg)

As promised, I put out the same team that got us to the final so the big players were rested and players like Danny Duffy got another game. It looked like Chelsea were going to be too much for us but in the 78th minute Danny Duffy came off injured so I decided to bring on Eder, Kovarik and Vigier. These players literally changed the game meaning the Legends have now won the cup three years in a row.

Legends vs Chelsea (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/chelsea-5.jpg)

Chelsea had a chance for instant revenge but we were saved by a brace from Lauridsen.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-73.jpg)

Things are looking good with a three point lead and a game in hand.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-76.jpg)

Bad news this month as goalkeeper Daniel Cristescu has announced he wants to leave the club for a new challenge. He's got four years left on his contract but I don't think he'll change his mind.

The strength of this squad is immense; Felipe, Jose, Lauridsen and Forster are all described as world class players.

Having a fantastic season there dafuge

Nice to retain the league cup. Again. :D . Also nice to see all the youngsters getting a chance. Duffy and Ross could be club legends.

I see Mezei got a goal earlier on in the season. How is he looking now? Also have you gave any games to Colinet?

David Ross (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ross-2.jpg)

He's looking quality and has played well for a 17 year old. He's not quite made the left wing spot his own yet but I've given him plenty of games in the league.

Danny Duffy (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/duffy-1.jpg)

In the games he's played he's done really well, I'm hoping he might get a few games later on in the season.

Pascal Colinet (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/colinet.jpg)

Another player who I used regularly for the cup matches, made an absolute howler in the cup final though.

Jozsef Mezei (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/mezei.jpg)

Hasn't really featured due to the form of Bruno.

Reserves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/res.jpg)

Here's the first team stats for the reserves who helped us retain the Carling Cup.

dave safc

Thanks dafuge.

All very promising. I'll definitely be giving Ross, Duffy etc. plenty of run-outs in my next go. Think I would go for a similar tactic of playing the reserves in the league cup. Playing a full strength team in 4 competitions cost me a few times in my last go.

Colinet has came on loads since I signed him too.

I made the same mistake in my last stint, I tried to win the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup and it cost me badly in the league.

It's shame to get knocked out of the FA Cup since we haven't won it yet but I think that will be helpful later on in the season.

Legends FC - March

Birmingham vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/birmingham-1.jpg)

With the second leg in the Champions League coming up in just three days I had to rest a few players. The team did the job but there was a scare as Eder was taken off injured. Thankfully he's ok but it will touch and go to see if he's fully fit for the Bremen game.

Legends vs Werder Bremen (Champions League 1st knockout round leg 2) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bremen-2.jpg)

There was an early scare but Jose came of the bench on his return from injury to win the match. We'll be meeting Roma in the quarter final which will be a repeat of 2028 when they knocked us out with a single goal.

Legends vs Hartlepool (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hartlepool-1.jpg)

We made hard work over what should have been an easy win over relegation candidates Hartlepool. Things were going well until Lukas Kovarik had a Neville/Robinson moment and scored from a passback.

Spurs vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/spurs-5.jpg)

After winning eight games in a row something like this was always going to happen as we lost thanks to a dodgy 96th minute penalty. I got myself a £16k fine for slating the ref after the game.

Legends vs Newcastle (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/newcastle-9.jpg)

After suffering the defeat at Spurs the last thing we needed was a game against a team challenging for the title. It didn't go well in a game dominated by set piece goals.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-74.jpg)

Suddenly things are not looking quite so good.

Squad
(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-77.jpg)
We had a few injuries during the month but it looks like the important players are returning just at the right time.

The run in does not look good, five of our last seven league games are away from home. Things don't look too good for Arsenal either though, they face the same run of game we've just had. Hopefully Spurs, Newcastle or Liverpool will take points off them to make things a bit easier for us.

Legends FC - April

Roma vs Legends (Champions League quarter final leg 1) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/roma.jpg)

David Ross looked like he had won us the match when he scored then set up a goal for Jose but some shocking defensive errors cost us the match. Not a disaster though, this is still possible.

Liverpool vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/liverpool-6.jpg)

After three straight defeats this was not the sort of game I wanted. What a way to answer the critics, this was a fantastic win even if the scoreline did flatter us. This was just what we needed going into the second leg of the CL quarter final and it could be the result that wins us the league. Defeat here and we were in trouble.

Legends vs Roma (Champions League quarter final leg 2) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/roma2.jpg)

Things were not looking good but a penalty save and a late triple substitution changed the game in our favour. We'll meet Celtic in the semi final which is a game we have a great chance of winning.

Legends vs Sunderland (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sunderland-7.jpg)

Jose was on form in a must needed win. It looked like Arsenal were going to draw with Hartlepool but they were saved with a late winner.

Swindon vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/swindon-5.jpg)

We should have won this easily but we managed to throw away a two goal lead and somehow lost it. All is not lost though, Arsenal were beaten 2-0 in the north London derby.

Celtic vs Legends (Champions League semi final leg 1) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/celtic.jpg)

It could have been more if we had out away more of our chances but it is nice to go into the second leg with a lead for once.

Portsmouth vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/pompey-3.jpg)

We were saved by a last minute offside goal as Arsenal missed a penalty and only managed a draw with Newcastle. This could be the weekend that decided the title.

Legends vs Celtic (Champions League semi final leg 2) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/celtic2.jpg)

Made pretty easy work of it in the end. In the other semi final Inter beat Arsenal 2-1 which was great news as I was dreading meeting Arsenal in the final. The Legends are set to make history.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-75.jpg)

Back in the driving seat. We have games against Fulham (h), Reading (a) and Villa (a), Arsenal face Liverpool (a) and Sunderland (h). If Liverpool can beat Arsenal it will give us the chance to lift the title in front of our own fans at the Fulham match, which is the day after the Liverpool vs Arsenal game.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-78.jpg)

They are a bit tired but to be injury free at this stage of the season is fantastic. Eder has been on great form recently, when he plays well we generally play well as a team.

Let me know if there's any players you want more information on, I'll do a little write up on request. This will be the last monthly update, the final four games will be posted on their own as things happen.

Can I see Vigier, Jose and the brazilian left back (can't remember his name) please?

Jose (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/jose-3.jpg)

World class striker who I signed five seasons ago for just £400k. He's saved us a fair few times this season.

Philippe Vigier (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/vigier-1.jpg)

Signed for £17m I was convinced he was a massive flop. He isn't.

Felipe (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/felipe.jpg)

I remember someone gambling on his contract and risking losing him for nothing, that was a great move as now he is world class and probably the best left back in the world.

Liverpool vs Arsenal (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/livarse.jpg)

Liverpool have done us a massive favour here meaning we can lift the title with a win against Fulham. A draw would be good enough but it won't confirm the title because of the goal difference.

With the title already won I was able to give the fringe players a couple more games.

Reading vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/reading-4.jpg)

The Hox just ripped them apart.

Aston Villa vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/villa-6.jpg)

We were lucky to get away with a draw here as reserve goalie Martin Wallington made a few howlers and Villa had a couple of goals ruled out for offside.

Champions League final preview

Preview (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/preview-2.jpg)

Inter are favourites but we have to fancy our chances of winning this.

Teams (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/teams.jpg)

Laim Hazell misses the game through suspension which worries me as Cerny has not been playing well lately. David Ross is being given the chance to make himself a club legend already. On paper Inter look defensively very strong so I'm not expecting us to score very many goals.

dafuge
01-11-2008, 15:59
Half Time (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ht.jpg)

A nightmare start as Inter scored from a header from a free kick. Changes will be made if we don't make a good start in the second half.

Full Time (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ft.jpg)

We got the great start to second half that I was hoping for as Felipe blasted in a free kick from just outside the area. Ten minutes later we were ahead as Jesper Lauridsen scored his sixth goal of the season from a corner. Things got a bit nervy as Inter pushed for the equaliser but we did just enough to hang on for the win. Champions \o/

A few notes about the squad for dave safc

Goalkeepers - Cristescu is great but he wants to leave, I can't see him changing his mind so it might be worth cashing in on him. Martin Wallington should be good enough to step in, he hasn't really had many chances but he has the potential to be as good as Cristescu.

Full Backs - we have two great full backs in Felipe and Roome. Felipe is easily the first choice but there have been some big bids coming in for Roome. Holomek is a class act and Colinet provides good backup.

Centre Backs - Kovarik, Lauridsen, Jeffrey and Pedro are all awesome. Dave Price is worth keeping an eye on, the youth product is labelled as the next Tony Adams (not sure how that happens with fake names).

Defensive Midfielders - room for improvement here, Hazell is solid but there might be better out there.

Wingers - Eder is class, Ross, Kunkel and Otten fight over the other spot, hopefully Ross will be good enough to hold down the place on his own soon. Danny Duffy should be good enough for the first team in a few years.

Attacking Midfielders - Forster is great although he is getting old now, Bruno could be good enough to replace him.

Strikers - Jose and Vigier are the obvious choices, although Hoxha was surprisingly good this season. We could do with getting a young striker as backup, have a look at the German on the shortlist, if he ever wants to move he might be worth looking at.

In general the squad has great depth in all areas, it will be interesting to see if you get any decent youth players as the last lot had quite a few Premier League potential players.

Ten Ton 2030-31, Pre-Season Update

Pre-season at Ten Ton was one of hectic activity, stress and enjoyment. The hectic activity was mainly the fact I had bids flying in from everywhere for what seemed like every single one of the players. Elsewhere saw our Youth facilities be improved, and the Stadium started a 5,000 odd seat expansion, taking it to around 28,000. We've been predicted to finish 3rd in the League, but we all know that we will win. Another random bit of news, was after an awful World Cup campaign, Spain offered Paul Wallace the job, which was politely refused.

Despite Rlips advice to sell Cook and Watson, i've so far gone against this advice as personally, I think they will fit quite nicely into my team. However I did follow his advice in signing a new central defender, I spent £9M on Jean-Baptiste Dupuis (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=4.jpg) from Getafe. He can play both central defense and central midfield, providing the side with some good back-up.

In other transfer news, both of Rlips young signings arrived: Niklas Dressel (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=2.jpg) a 17 year old German signed from Bayern Munich for £100K, and Marcelo (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=3.jpg) an 18 year old Brazilian signed for £4K from Gremio.

Our chairman continued to accept bids for our players, with Bayern Munich's £7.5M Bandito bid somewhat surprisingly being accepted by the chairman who thought it was 'too good to turn down'.

Players released on a free were: Henrik Moller, Ding Wei, Milun Stevanovic and Chopper.

I felt that we had too many strikers, so I sold Tomas Kucernak to Spurs for £4M. The only other player i've sold so far was another player I felt wasn't needed. Taro Eijiri was sold to Athletico Madrid for £3.7M*.

Now, your wondering what the * is for aren't you. Now this was surprising, as Athletico seemed so desperate for Taro Eijiri they even through in a fairly promising 18 year old Central defender, free of charge! Ignacio Carzola (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=5.jpg). Granted he might not be the best young prospect we have, but he's capped at U19 level, and for nothing, he's not a bad 'signing'.

Overall a fairly exciting pre-season, and I believe we can look to achieve a good season this year.

Transfer Screenie (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=1.jpg), just for the record.

bermybhoy
06-11-2008, 21:47
Interesting stuff. Got to be honest here and say I'm not overly impressed by Dupois. Poor heading and jumping especially mean I wouldn't trust him at centre-back, plus I'd rather see us spend money like that on promising youngsters. The German looks like he could develop though.

Shame about Bandito, I think that's actually less than we paid for him. Not for the first time, the AI lets us down with illogical decisions. Pity we didn't get more for Ejiri (one of my favourites) or Kucernak (who was the Golden Boot winner a few years back for us), but the squad probably needs pruned back anyway.

Good luck with the rest of the season

rlipscombe

not overly impressed with the defender either but stats aren't always everything.... Agree with the sale of Kucernak, who was no longer required in my opinion. Ejiri was also unhappy so i guess it was right to take the cash while you could. Cazorla looks like a pretty good freebie also.

keep up the good work.

August update on the way

Ten Ton 2030-31, August Update

August was again, a very interesting month. After much deliberation, I let Cook go for £20M to Barcelona. He wasn't as good as other options we had, and he wanted to go, so that £20M can go to either me spending it in January, or for the next person in charge. The only other players to leave in August were, Giovanni Garofalo who went to our Feeder Coventry on loan, and John Pendleton who went to Stoke on a bosman. Transfer screenie (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August1.jpg).

After experimenting with tactics in pre-season, i've decided to stick with a 4-4-2 as my main formation throughout the season. I've also removed both Benoit and da Silva's nicknames as the * were really annoying me. If anyone isn't happy with this then I will be more than happy to put the nicknames back before I upload the game when i've finished the season. Champions League wise, we drew AA Gent in the 3rd knockout round, the 2 games were played this month.

Games:
Premier Division Game 1

Stoke 1-2 Ten Ton (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/August2.jpg)

After going behind early on, we didn't really take any of our chances until da Silva equalised fairly late on. Luckily substitute Bakary Keita managed to rescue a late win for Ten Ton, giving us our first win, in our first game.

Champions Cup 3rd Qualifying Leg 1

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August3.jpg)Ten Ton 4-1 AA Gent (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August3.jpg)

A match we were always going to dominate, after a first half da Silva hat-trick, and a Larruzea free-kick AA Gent could only manage a consolation goal, from Kris Mathy.

Premier Division Game 2

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August4.jpg)Blackburn 2-2 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August4.jpg)

I was a bit surprised when Blackburn got an early 1-0 lead, as up until then we had dominated. Josu Larruzea equalized just before half-time to give us a boost going into the second half. However, Blackburn then went 2-1 up through Ludovic Lopez. It took a late equalizer from the man of the moment, Josu Larruzea to scramble a point out of a disappointing match.

Premier Division Game 3

Ten Ton 3-2 Portsmouth (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August5.jpg)

We deserved to win this game definitely, however we really shouldn't have conceded their second, it was almost as if our defence had switched off for the last few moments of the game. Luckily for us, Portsmouth didn't go onto grab an equalizer.

Champions Cup 3rd Qualifying Leg 2

AA Gent 0-4 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August6.jpg)

Like the first leg, without being to harsh on Gent, we dominated the match and fully deserved our resounding victory, to put us through 8-1 on aggregate. It was also good to see Benoit score a hat-trick as before this match he hadn't really been playing like he had in Rlips season imo.

Premier Division Game 4

Ten Ton 1-0 Fulham (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August7.jpg)

I didn't think we played that well, we never looked like conceded, but apart from Puelle's free-kick, we never really did much attacking-wise either.

-

So after an eventful August, we sit 2nd in the table (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=August8.jpg) with a game in hand to leaders Everton. Elsewhere we have drawn Championship side Norwich in the League Cup 3rd Round. However, in the Champions League we received perhaps the worst group we could have had. Real Madrid, Lyon and Fiorentina. It will be very tough, but if anyone can lead the club through it, it's Paul Wallace.

Dava
07-11-2008, 19:21
Good start Paul, i'm hopeful of a successful season ahead. I must admit I thought £9m on a 29 year old with ok stats was a bit steep, but hey ho you're the manager!

Ejiri and Kucernak sale values were a tad disappointing as they were star preformers for me a few seasons ago, although they may have been getting on a bit.

Good luck Paul and it's good to see this thread still going.

Ten Ton 2030-31, September Update

September was a very successful month for the Northern Monkeys, winning every single game they played...

Premier Division Game 5 -

Ten Ton 5-2 Bolton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September1.jpg)

Despite going 2-0 down early on, the second half saw us score score 4 goals, to get our first win of the month.

Premier Division Game 6 -

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September2.jpg)Man Utd 0-2 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September2.jpg)

Despite Man Utd being predicted to finish 17th this season, there was always going to be that Old Trafford atmosphere about the game. Luckily 2 goals from Benoit gave us a nice away win.

Champions Cup Group Game 1 -

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September3.jpg)Ten Ton 6-2 Real Madrid (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September3.jpg)

A Game we went into hoping to get a point, shockingly we came out with one of the best wins in our history. Shocking stuff it was.

Premier Division Game 7 -

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September4.jpg)Ten Ton 3-1 West Brom (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September4.jpg)

A game in which we dominated, I was very surprised we only scored 3, we could have scored at least 6 from the chances we had.

League Cup 3rd Round -

(http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September5.jpg)Norwich 2-3 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September5.jpg)

I decided to give the fringe players a chance to play in this match, and they returned my favour by scoring 3 goals. Despite a somewhat late Norwich fight-back, and 8 minutes of injury time, they hung on to get us through to the next round.

Premier Division Game 8 -

Ten Ton 2-0 Reading (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September6.jpg)

A hard game with Reading saw us pick up the 3 points, despite having 2 players get injured.

-

Cedric Sanchez twisted his knee and will be out for 2 weeks. Whilst Harm Meijer suffered a gash head, and will out for a week. In the League Cup, we have drawn Championship Aldershot. Xavier Langlois won the Young Player of the Month (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September7.jpg). Whilst good ol' Paul Wallace picked up the Manager of the Month (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September8.jpg). The table (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=September9.jpg) shows 9 matches being played as i've since played a further league game.

Ten Ton 2030-31, October Update

October wasn't as good as September, we lost our first game of the season, and also lost players to injury.

Champions Cup Group Match 2

Lyon 5-1 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER1.jpg)

we've gone from picking up one of our best victories in the Champions League, to potentially the worse. We were awful, just plain awful. Lyon took their chances, and we didn't take ours. To top it off da Silva was injured, which put him out for the rest of October.

Premier Division Game 10

Ten Ton 5-0 Liverpool (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER2.jpg)

We bounced back from our horrific Champions League defeat spectacularly, Benoit was simply amazing. Puelle's injury put him out for 2 months, a big loss to the club defensively.

Champions Cup Group Game 3

Ten Ton 4-0 Fiorentina (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER3.jpg)

Another fantastic Champions League display from Benoit, and a penalty from Penarrubia saw us take all 3 points.

Premier Division Game 11

Southampton 0-1 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER4.jpg)

We were pretty poor, if not for a substitute Fazekas goal, we would only have taken away a point.

League Cup 4th Round

Ten Ton 2-2 Aldershot (Aldershot win 2-1 on Pens) (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER5.jpg)

I played the fringe players again, and despite our early exit from the tournament, I don't regret playing the fringe players one bit.

-

At the end of October the table looked like this (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER6.jpg) we still have a very comfortable lead, and are unbeaten. Meanwhile in the Champions League the group looks like this (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=OCTOBER7.jpg) it's very tight, and we will definitely have to beat either Fiorentina or Real Madrid to have a good chance of making it through.

Puelle and Langlois are both regular starters, as is Le Mentec who in my opinion is easily one of our key players, he may not score many or get as many assists, but he is always there and there abouts, and without his pace down the right wing we wouldn't have scored as many goals as we had. Ten Ton 2030-31, November Update

November was a tough month for Ten Ton...

Premier Division Game 12

Ten Ton 0-0 Newcastle (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER1.jpg)

It was a very tough month, and we both failed to take our chances, leaving us with just a point.

Champions Cup Game 4

Fiorentina 0-4 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER2.jpg)

A repeat of our previous 4-0 victory over them, we totally dominated them and deserved the win.

Premier Division Game 13

West Ham 3-2 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER3.jpg)

Our first loss in the Premiership this season, despite going 2-1 up, we managed to lose the match 3-2 in a big win for the home side.

Premier Division Game 14

Arsenal 3-2 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER4.jpg)

After going 1-0 down we managed to bring it back and take a 3-1 lead, despite Arsenal's late goal we hung on for the win.

Premier Division Game 15

Ten Ton 2-0 Chelsea (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER5.jpg)

A nice comfortable win for us, in a game we totally dominated.

Champions Cup Game 5

Real Madrid 2-1 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER6.jpg)

In a game that if we'd won we would have gone through, we lost it unfortunately, making sure that we have to get a result against Lyon to progress.

Premier Division Game 16

Ten Ton 3-1 Wolves (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER7.jpg)

It was a very comfortable win for us, in which William got his first start in nearly a month after abandoning training sessions.

At the end of November we still sit top of the table (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER8.jpg) 8 points clear of Liverpool, a nice comfortable lead. Mean while in the Champions League (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER9.jpg) we are second, as previously said, we have to hope to get a result against Lyon, as it's very doubtful whipping boys Fiorentina will get anything from their game with Madrid. Elsewhere the stadium expansion was complete (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=NOVEMBER10.jpg) taking the capacity to just under 30,000.

Great season so far Paul, only one league defeat is some going. Confident that even if we were unlucky enough to drop out the Chmapions League, the Euro cup would be winable.

Ten Ton 2030-31, December

December was fairly decent for Ten Ton...

Premier Division Game 17 -

Man City 0-3 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER1.jpg)

A nice comfortable win for Ten Ton, nice to see Cedric Sanchez score a few as he's not a regular on the score sheets.

Champions League Group Game 6 -

Ten Ton 2-1 Lyon (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER2.jpg)

In a game we presumed was a must win, we did win. Turns out Fiorentina got a draw with Madrid meaning we were through anyway.

Champions League final Group Table (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER3.jpg)

In the knockout draw we got a good draw, Celtic.

Premier Division Game 18 -

Spurs 1-3 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER4.jpg)

A late fightback from Benoit secured as a good win against North London side Spurs.

Premier Division Game 19 -

Ten Ton 4-0 Everton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER5.jpg)

Four goals against a week Everton side gained us the 3 points here.

Premier Division Game 20 -

Ten Ton 4-1 Stoke (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER6.jpg)

Another comfortable victory for Ten Ton, a walk over to be honest.

League table at the end of December (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER7.jpg) - We still have a nice 10 point lead, which providing we don't go on a horrendous losing streak, we will win the title.

End of the year, saw Benoit pick up a few awards:

Winner of World Footballer of the year (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER8.jpg)
Third in World Player of the year (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER9.jpg)
Winner of European Footballer of the year (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER10.jpg)
and, European Striker of the year (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=DECEMBER11.jpg)

Half-way review likely to come tomorrow

Mid-Way Update

So we're top of the league, and in a comfortable position. But of course you know all this from the previous update. What this update is about is mainly who plays in the games...

The General tactic, and 18 man squad looks like this (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY1.jpg)

now for screenies of all 18 players:

GK: Eneko Gordillo (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY2.jpg)
DR: Carlos Puelle (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY3.jpg)
DL: Xavier Langlois (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY4.jpg)
DC: Harm Meijer (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY5.jpg)
DC: John Cook (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY6.jpg)
MR: Bruno Le Mentec (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY7.jpg)
ML: Mario Penarrubia (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY8.jpg)
MC: Josu Larruzea (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY9.jpg)
MC: Cedric Sanchez (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY10.jpg)
FC: Jonathan Benoit (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY11.jpg)
FC: Eudes Martins da Silva (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY12.jpg)

Sub 1: Russell McCombe (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY13.jpg)
Sub 2: Ruud Burg (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY14.jpg)
Sub 3: Jean-Baptiste Dupuis (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY15.jpg)
Sub 4: Bakary Keita (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY16.jpg)
Sub 5: Sergej Schulz (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY17.jpg)
Sub 6: William (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY18.jpg)
Sub 7: Janos Fazekas (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY19.jpg)

I had originally started William on the right midfield before he became unhappy, but now if he does play it will generally be up-front. I did also originally play Ruud Burg in right defense and played Puelle in the middle instead of Cook, but after experimenting I noticed that Puelle could play better in right back and that gave Cook a place back into the team.

Any more questions then please ask

But on a more serious note. Now, the UK have had many horrible styles, but surely this 2030 craze is possibly one of the worst that will ever happen. I'm not sure what it's all about, but 5 of our players (the other is 3rd choice keeper, David Bell) have all adopted this horrific haircut (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=MIDWAY20.jpg).

We really do have a great team there. Even better than my last term, seeing as the likes of Pennarubbia, Le Mentec, Larruzea and Langlois have matured and all look much, much better. Benoit really is some player too, awesome stats.

looking closer at the team, it does look really good. i'm amazed how some of the players have deleloped since last season - Le Mentec is the perfect example. i knew he'd become great but he's an awesome winger now!! Larruzea is looking a natural in CM having played CB last season too. We have some real strength in depth now. good to see you've got Da Silva firing again. i could never quite get the best from him.

As for Benoit... Legend!!

Cheers for that Paul, great to see some of the players again and how they have developed, some real gems there.

Puelle has turned into a real footballing centre half, must be playing very well to keep Burg out.

Good stuff so far Paul. It's great to see that Benoit and Da Silva have developed so well. In the season I was in charge they both showed flashes of excellence but at the time were both still young and were behind Carillho and Kuzanik (sp?) in the pecking order.

FA Cup 3rd Round

York 0-2 Ten Ton (http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/?action=view&current=JANUARY1.jpg)

I rested a few players, and despite this we secured a place in the next round.

Tbh though, I think once you're done, it's the end of the road. Dave has quit and it doesn't look like the Softies have anyone else, and its not like anyone's been banging down the door to go next for the Monkeys. This would leave us even on number of seasons played.

February/March Update

Premier Division Game 26 -

Ten Ton 2 - 0 Man Utd (da Silva 59, William 88)

An important home win for us, in which Man Utd piled pressure onto us.

Premier Division Game 27 -

West Brom 4-3 Ten Ton ( da Silva 50, Benoit 73, Perez own goal 79)

a disappointing loss for us, which I wasn't expecting.

FA Cup 5th Round -

Norwich 2-1 Ten Ton FC (da Silva 35)

so if what Bermy said earlier was true, and I am the last of the Northerners, then Ten Ton wont have won the FA Cup. Bad times.

Champions Cup 1st Knockout Round Leg 1

Ten Ton 0-0 Celtic

A tight match, we kept a clean sheet which was good, despite unfortunately not picking up a victory. The game in Glasgow will be extremely tense.

Premier Division Game 28 -

Ten Ton 1-1 Arsenal (Le Mentec 90)

A late late equalizer, we haven't won in 4 games which is very upsetting.

Premier Division Game 29 -

Liverpool 2-1 Ten Ton ( Benoit 56)

Shockingly, we now have a horrific 5 games without winning, scarily going into the away leg of our Champions League game with Celtic, lose it, and that's Ten Ton's European dream officially over.

Champions Cup 1st Knockout Round Leg 2 -

Celtic 0-3 Ten Ton (da silva 15, Benoit 19 & 76)

The 5 losing game streak is over, and we are officially through to the quarter finals! On a sadder note, we have drawn Competition favorites Lyon.

Premier Division Game 30 -

Reading 3-4 Ten Ton (da silva 4, Benoit 36 & 48 & 86)

A somewhat rocky victory, but a vital victory nonetheless.

Premier Division Game 31 -

Newcastle 1-4 Ten Ton (da Silva 17 & 85 & 90, Benoit 24)

Another big victory, bringing us 1 step closer to the title we so desperately want.

Premier Division Game 32 -

Ten Ton 2-2 West Ham ( Benoit 41, Le Mentec 74)

League Table end of March (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/FEBRUARY1.jpg)

As you can see, 4 more points will guarantee a first ever (and probably last) League win for Ten Ton

WHAT. A. GAME.

We went into it being the underdogs, Lyon had the best defense in Europe, although we (probably) had the best strike-force in Europe. We were not only in Lyon, but the last time we played them in their own backyard, we lost 5-1. Although we did beat them 2-1 at home, which is quite good. We also had numerous players injured, key central midfielders Larruzea and Sancez, with unhappy yet brilliant AMR/ST William and South Korean sub Jang Chul-Woo also out.

The first half was all Lyon's, they had the ball in the net 3 times, all of which were ruled off for offside. All of which I believed were real goals. Which was rather stressful. The second half was more open, and we began to create some more chances. And then, the 80th minute came. Substitute Janos Fazekas was in Lyons penalty area, when he was fouled. It was Jean-Baptiste the controversial £9M central defender and central midfield player who would take it. He looked to place it in the top left hand corner, however to every Ten Ton fans dismay, he skied it. Many shouts from fans stating what a rubbish signing he was were made, the look on Dupuis face said it all, his one chance to make Ten Ton fans love him, and he blows it. However, that wasn't all she wrote, the fat lady hadn't sung yet. 89 minutes in Jonathan Benoit made a sensational run, he looked certain to score, until Marie clipped him. Dupuis had another chance. Surely he couldn't miss again. He had 2 things on his mind. Score, and get a massive away goal for Ten Ton, surely getting him a place among the Ten Ton fans good-books, it would be his first goal for the club, and surely, bar a goal in either the next leg, or the Semi or the Final, if Ten Ton were to make it that far, he would never score one more important. Miss, and be slated for the rest of his playing career. He aimed for the top left hand corner once again, nearly every Ten Ton player and fan had their hearts in their mouth. The ball left Dupuis' foot, Pailot dived to his right, but the ball was well out of reach. It smashed into the top left hand corner. And every single away fan jumped onto their feet. GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL screamed the very biased Sky Sports pundit for the night James Dunn, sitting in the Sky Sports box. Ten Ton had done it, they had secured a MASSIVE away win in the quarter final of the Champions League, and i'm not sure, anyone could have written a more perfect ending to it (imo).

Premier Division Game 33 -

Ten Ton 2-0 Southampton (Benoit 20, 24)

We went into the game knowing that even if we won we couldn't be confirmed Champions, as Liverpool were playing their 33rd game in a weeks time. If Liverpool didn't win we would be official Champions. The game itself was a fairly open one, and without Benoit's 2 goals in 5 minutes in the first half, it's very unlikely we would have won. Good win though.

THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DREAM, IS OVER

Unlike the away tie, the home tie was absolutely full of goals. Matteo Pasini opened the scoring after just 10 minutes. His first shot was saved, but his rebound went straight past Gordillo in goal for us. Our away goal now meant nothing, and if things stayed the same it would go to extra time and penalties, but we knew deep down, this game was full of goals. 15 minutes in, Cook received a blow to the head and had to come off. I shuffled Puelle to the center, and brought on Maggi to play on the right hand side of defense for the rest of the game. On the half hour mark though, Solihull Moors Stadiums roof was lifted as Jonathan Benoit heading in from a Penarrubia cross to make it 1-1 on the night, and 2-1 on aggregate. The goal was his 50th in all competitions this season. 5 minutes before half-time, and Lyon lead for the first time in the tie. Perez headed in from a Munoz corner, to make it 2-2 aggregate which would put Lyon through on away goals. However literally minutes later, Dupuis pass looked to be going out for a goal kick, until somehow Le Mentec managed to reach it and cross it into an awaiting Jonathan Benoit, the Worlds Best player hit it low, and it went into the back of the net, to make it 2-2 on the night, and 3-2 on aggregate to the Northern Monkeys. A few minutes after the hour mark, Puelle played in Benoit, who with the easiest of tap-ins with his left foot, secured his hat-trick and gave Ten Ton a comfortable 4-2 lead on aggregate. Ten Ton fans thought they were through and were already looking forward to the Semi final, when on the stroke of the 89th minute, a lovely ball from Gustavo was met by Pasini, whose shot whistled past Gordillo to bring Lyon back into the tie. Solihull looked to the fourth official in horror, as his added time board read 4 minutes of extra time. Which were probably, the longest 4 minutes in Paul Wallace's managerial career. However, despite late pressure from Lyon, Ten Ton withstood it, and recorded a famous Champions League victory.

The Champions League dream, for Lyon, is well and truly over.

Final Score: Ten Ton 3-3 Lyon (4-3 Agg) (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/CHAMPLEAGUEQUARTER.jpg)

The Draw for the Semi (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/CHAMPLEAGUEQUARTER2.jpg) shows that it will be England vs Portugal in the final, but who will be in it?

One good sign is that since their famous 5th Champions League, Liverpool have only won it one other time in the next 30 odd years. While we of course, have only ever reached the Semi's where we were knocked out by PSV (last season). But with the league presumably out of Liverpool's sight, will they take revenge in the Champions League?

TEN TON IN 5 GOAL SHOCKER!

After having lost 2-1 to them, and also beat them 5-0 this season, I really didn't know what to expect in this game.

I certainly didn't expect such a shocking first 5 minutes. Josu Larruzea scored in just the second minute to give us not a surprising lead, but it was surprising considering how early we scored. Amazingly, 3 minutes later Cedric Sanchez made it 2-0, to give us one hell of a start! In the 13th minute we received an injury blow to only been fit for a week Josu Larruzea, which meant unfortunately or imo luckily, Jean Baptiste Dupuis got his spot in the team back! da Silva sent the fans wild in the 37th minute when he gave us a fantastic 3-0 lead, we went into half-time elated with ourselves, I for one couldn't believe it. 5 minutes into the second half and we were cheering again, Harm Meijer's goal just might have put Liverpool out of the tie. Until the 77th minute. Ex Ten Ton man Peter Carruthers penalty, gave Liverpool a vital away goal. A brilliant result, and it will take some display from Liverpool at New Anfield for us not to progress to the final for the first time in our history.

A perhaps surprising loss for us, but there was more to it than that. da Silva bruised his head, and will definitely miss the Champions League semi second leg. Jonathan Benoit gave us the lead after just 9 minutes in a game which if we won, we would become league champions. Ikonen equalized for Chelea just 3 minutes later, and to our horror, Ralf Macho then put the homeside ahead within a minute of the equalizer. da Silva made it 2-2 10 minutes before half-time. He then gave Ten Ton the lead with just 20 minutes left on the clock. Paul Roche equalized for Chelsea in late drama, with just 4 minutes left. However it was substitute Janos Fazekas who score the winner, which would give us the League title.

Game 34 -

Ten Ton 2-0 Man City

Benoit gave us the lead in our first game as Champions after just 13 minutes. The only other goal in the game was Josu Larruzea's 44th minute strike to give us a 2-0 win.

I went into the game with a fairly defensive strategy, we had a 4-1 lead, which realistically if we went into it defensively would be extremely hard to blow it all, even against the king of Jammy wins Liverpool.

Edu scored after 27 minutes to put the home team ahead and reduce our lead on aggregate to 4-2, Liverpool now only needing 2 more goals to go through, providing we didn't score. The next 60 odd minutes were packed full of pressure, and we never looked like conceding. Jon Etxeberria brought Liverpool back into the tie, and increased the majority of Ten Ton fans heartbeats dangerously high when he scored an incredible free-kick, 15 seconds into the 4 minutes of extra time. The next few minutes were extremely tense and exciting, and despite extreme pressure from Liverpool, Ten Ton resisted, and for the first time in their fairly short history, Ten Ton are in the Champions League final.

FINAL SCORE - Liverpool 2-0 Ten Ton (3-4 on aggregate) (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/paulhartmanhardy/SEMIFINAL2.jpg)

William's injury was a big one, and he will be out for 3 months, obviously missing the final, which I have just found out we will be facing Porto in.

With William and Meijer both definitely out for the final, for the 2 remaining Premier League matches I am more than likely going to play the 'B' team, as we cannot afford to suffer anymore injuries in the run up to our final with Porto.

Wallace v Roberts 2008: the end of a long road

The story in brief
Two clubs.
Two managers.
20 members of the CSE community.
48 seasons.
11 Promotions.
1 Relegation.
16 cups.
3 Premier League titles.
2 Champions Leagues.

So that’s pretty much it for the current edition of Wallace v Roberts. Back in March, the legendary strikers went head to head in a battle to take their clubs to the very top. Sure, there have been hic-cups on the way, but they got there in the end.

From humble beginnings which included a struggle for many seasons to make it out the lower divisions of the English Leagues, both sides, the Northern Monkeys and the Southern Softies, have gone on to become massive clubs in the English game, attracting world-class players and ultimately winning the biggest prizes football has to offer.

This of course was all done under the guidance of various members of the community. Thanks for taking part therefore go to:

The award ceremony
Everyone who participated has played a massive part, some more than others.

So without further ado, I’d like to announce some awards to be presented to those a few people who’ve made outstanding contributions, in one way or another.

The Ron Atkinson award for longevity:
Dafuge, for completing 6 seasons, out in front of Robert_296 on 5, and both myself and Nep on 4.

The Lewis Hamilton award for driving a club forward:
Dava, for two promotions – no-one else managed it more than once.

The Jock Stein award for bringing home the Big Cup first:
Jointly shared by dafuge and PaulHartman71

The Polaris award for taking a club down:
NepentheZ, step forward and take a bow.

The Steve McLaren award for not winning very much at all:
There’s a few contenders here, but based on number of seasons played without getting promoted or winning a cup (and arguably scoring negative points on this scale with that relegation), one man is way out in front, come back up NepentheZ!

Now the most prestigious award:

Sir Alex Furious award for most successful manager
Note that his is calculated as total number of successes divided by no. of seasons played. Therefore, it ignores how major any particular trophy is.

In third: dave safc - 1.33 ‘successes’ per season
In second: dafuge – 1.5 trophies per season
But the winner is: Dava – 1.67 trophies per season played

Congratulations Dava, on overcoming the overwhelming favourite for that one.

bermybhoy
23-11-2008, 18:08
Now a few other special awards:

The Jackanory award for story telling:
Jimbokav – for putting unprecedented effort into his updates.

The Lord Lucan award for starting a season then disappearing without trace:
Jointly shared by HunterKiller and thezogsageordie

The Golden Rubber Duck award for losing a save game whilst in the shower:
Now, who was this again? Let me know and claim your award! Remember and save the game occasionally…

Edit: apparently Ridleys was the man (cheers Robert)

Credit crunch award for creative use of a loan:
Robert_296 – would the Softies have gone onto such success without Olly Kenney? ;)

The King Tutankhamun award for use of hieroglyphics:
Jimbokav again, for a load of stars and other uses of the nicknaming function which no-one else quite figured out ;)

The Magnus Magnusson award for starting but not finishing:
Roberto922. Looking forward to a full season some time… Mention too for Gundo on getting going then passing the game on before it all went horribly wrong.

The Mary-Kate and Ashley award for suggesting two teams would be better than one:
Robert_296 – a fine idea, we could all agree

And finally…

Big thanks for dafuge for ‘looking after the shop’ any time I’ve been away and keeping things ticking over and also for drumming up some greater participation.

Many thanks again to everyone who helped develop the idea and especially those who took part and made it one of the liveliest, most unique and most entertaining threads around. Here’s to making Wallace v Roberts 2009 an even bigger success.
