That's a LOT of debt the Softies have taken on, but no doubt manageable if you fill the ground. I wondered how all those stadium increases were being funded - that explains it.

Their board must be much more ambitious than the Monkeys - the Softies stadium is now a full 20,000 bigger, despite us being at the same level.

I wonder if for next time (for there surely will be...), we should edit from scratch two identical teams with identical boards to keep things completely even.

Could it be down to the location of the clubs? Fisher are based in London which could give the Softies a potentially bigger fan base.

The Softies March Update

Game 1 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 3 - 2 Leyton Orient

Goalscorers: Jirousek (12), Popov (30), Giacomelli (50)

Goalscorers: Cartwright (14, 24)

Man of the Match: Cartwright

Finally a win to start the month. I actually thought that we would lose this game for some reason and I was very happy when Giacomelli scored our 3rd goal to put us back in the lead!

League Position after the game: 5th

Game 2 Coca Cola Championship - Bradford 1 - 3 The Softies

Goalscorers: Pedro (32), Popov (61), Turnbull (86)

Goalscorers: Walker (90)

Man of the Match: Popov

Great result for us in this game. We dominated the game and took our chances well. We are now 4th in the league after over taking Norwich and are safely in the playoffs places now.

League Position after the game: 4th

Game 3 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 3 - 2 Brighton

Goalscorers: Popov (5, 19), Jirousek (50)

Goalscorers: Enyeama (31), Vernon (75)

Man of the Match: Popov

3 games and 3 wins so far this month and we get closer to overtaking Man City now. We are now 1 point behind them and are in much better form, meaning we could overtake them over the coming games.

League Position after the game: 4th

Game 4 Coca Cola Championship - Stoke 2 - 3 The Softies

Goalscorers: Nyagolov (5), Jirousek (Pen 22), Popov (30)

Goalscorers: Mason (32), Craggs (57)

Man of the Match:

Our 4th win in a row month and another good performance. We almost let our 3 goal lead slip but the defence held strong towards the end and we held on to another very important victory.

League Position after the game: 4th

Game 5 Coca Cola Championship - Hull 0 - 3 The Softies

Goalscorers: James (12), Kovarik (36), Semenov (55)

Man of the Match: James

Very solid performance from the team in this game. 3 goals and a clean sheet is very good at this stage of the season. Also we are now only an astonishing 6 points behind Swindon in 2nd place, who were 15 points in front of us this time last month!

League Position after the game: 3rd

Game 6 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 5 - 0 Norwich

Goalscorers: Pedro (45, 50, 88), Nyagolov (48), Jirousek (Pen 67)

Man of the Match: Pedro

What a performance! Norwich are only 2 places behind us in the league and we still manage to thrash them by 5 goals. Pedro has now taken over Popov as the top scorer this season, with 28 goals in all competions.

League Position after the game: 3rd

Game 7 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 5 - 3 Crystal Palace

Goalscorers: Pedro (16, 54, 58), James (28), Semenov (76)

Goalscorers: Burgess (70), Burke (82), Ogden (86)

Man of the Match: Pedro

What a game. Despite the scoreline, it was a much easier game than it seemed. We were 4 - 0 up before they got their first goal and that was way to late for them, with only 20 minutes of the game left.

League Position after the game: 3rd

I didn't think affiliate clubs were banned, just loaning players from a parent club in a much higher division (which is irrelevant now).

The Softies Promotion Push Update Part One

The Softies went in to April just 6 points behind Swindon in 2nd place, with 5 games left. Could The Softies catch up? Who knows. This report will follow both The Softies and Swindon through their final 5 games.

Game 1 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 4 - 2 Middlesbrough

Goalscorers: Turnbull (9), Szabo (Pen 15), Kovarik (21), Jordan (37)

Goalscorers: Murray (4, 17)

Man of the Match: Murray

Great start to the Promotion Push. We need to win these type of games and we managed to do it comfortably. We need to carry this form on.

Game 1 Coca Cola Championship - Colchester 2 - 1 Swindon

Goalscorers: Johansson (19)

Goalscorers: Valdir (29), Roome (62)

Man of the Match: Valdir

It was a tough game for Swindon in their first game, as they faced league leader Colchester. They scored first, but conceded 2 goals afterwards and lost the game

The Gap: 3 Points

Game 2 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 3 - 0 Leicester

Goalscorers: Pedro (7), Popov (56), Giacomelli (68)

Man of the Match: Giacomelli

Another good victory and with the gap cut to 3 points after the last game, The Softies kept the pressure on their promotion rivals Swindon.

Game 2 Coca Cola Championship - Swindon 1 - 0 Sheff Utd

Goalscorers: Emerson (38)

Man of the Match: Emerson

Another win for Swindon, unfortunately, but they could only manage 1 goal this time, after smacking 4 past them last time. They know that the pressure is on them now.

The Gap: 3 Points

Game 3 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 3 - 0 Dagenham & Redbridge

Goalscorers: Pedro (6), Lynch (14), Semenov (36)

Man of the Match: Lynch

Two 3 - 0 wins in a row, which once again keeps the pressure on Swindon. We played extremely well and getting another win is very important!

Game 3 Coca Cola Championship - Swindon 2 - 1 Leyton Orient

Goalscorers: Emerson (70), Philliskirk (78)

Goalscorers: Essien (45)

Man of the Match: Philliskirk

Swindon win again and keep the gap at 3 points for another week. There are now 2 games left, can Swindon keep ahead of The Softies?

The Gap: 3 points

The Softies Promotion Push Update Part Two

With just a 3 point gap now, The Softies were looking very strong! Could they do it though?

Game 1 Coca Cola Championship - Ipswich 2 - 2 The Softies

Goalscorers: Pedro (14), Jirousek (Pen 53)

Goalscorers: James own goal (55), Alexander (77)

Man of the Match: Jirousek

It could be all over. If Swindon win their game they get the automatic promotion and The Softies will have to settle with the Playoffs. Lets see what happened.

Game 1 Coca Cola Championship - Swindon 2 - 2 Bradford

Goalscorers: Emerson (19, 49)

Goalscorers: Hoyle (Pen 31), Walker (85)

Man of the Match: Emerson

Swindon could not take advantage of the draw that The Softies could only manage. A late goal from Bradford's Dave Walker, who was only brought on 1 minutes before the goal, may have saved The Softies from the Playoffs.

The Gap: 3 Points

Game 2 Coca Cola Championship - The Softies 2 - 0 Sheff Wed

Goalscorers: James (51), Pedro (68)

Man of the Match: James

The Softies had won their game. Now all they could do was wait. The Swindon game was scheduled for the evening, so all The Softies players and fans stayed in the stadium to watch the game on big screens put up around the stadium. Would the fans go home happy?

Game 2 Coca Cola Championship - Brighton 0 - 1 Swindon

Goalscorers: Nygaard (67)

Man of the Match: Nygaard

Swindon had done it. They would be getting automatic promotion to the playoffs and The Softies have to settle for the Playoffs.

Robert, spotted your comment. Will add you in.

Looking at your line up, I think it's about time we had a rule that the Softies can only use players from Southern England. They have to release everyone else immediately.

I've had my first look at the team and I think the squad needs a fair bit of work, there's a lot of old players who's physical attributes are awful and are either retiring or leaving.

Fans of the softies will be sad to hear the news that Jermaine Blackburn will retire next month after making 548 appearances for the softies, scoring 293 goals.

I've brought in a few extra backroom staff but I won't be making any new signings until the new season starts in a couple of weeks time.

A few bits of interesting news:

We have announced a link with RFC Tournai of Belgium, this will give us the option to loan players out to avoid work permit problems.

The youth and training facilities are both being upgraded, about time too as the current facilities are pretty rubbish.

The stadium is being expanded again, with an extra 6853 seats being added. This will take the all seater stadium up to a huge capacity of around 33000.

Looks like the chairman has made the decision for me, accepting a bid of 8.75m. I can't really complain about that.

The new season has started and the softies are predicted to finish 20th in the Premier League. I've told the board that I would avoid relegation which gave me a transfer budget of 19m, with more to come once the sale of Jiorusek goes through.

The scouting restrictions have been completely lifted so I've immediately sent to boys to Brazil.

I know I can't mount a title challenge this year so my two aims for this season are to avoid relegation and to hopefully bring in a few players who will improve in time for the managers in the future to use.

Tournai 0-2 Legends
Garforth 2-4 Legends
Glentoran 3-4 Legends After being 4-1 up against Premier League Coventry after 25 minutes I thought this might be easier than I originally expected. They pulled back the goals as I started to make a few changes.

The strikers all looked on form which was great with both Moreira and Giacomelli bagging four goals in a game.

Transfers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/transfers-31.jpg)

With a lot of the older player retiring or leaving the squad was in need of some serious work.

Players Out:

There were quite a few retirements and players leavinga t the end of their contracts but I also released a lot of youth players who weren't really good enough to be at the club. These were the only two major sales:

I didn't really want to lose him but he was unhappy and only had one year left on his contract so when Chelsea offered 8.75m and the chairman accepted it took the decision out of my hands. I was a bit annoyed to find out he had a 40% sell on clause though.

Vasily Semenov (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/semenov.jpg)

All the bigs clubs were after him, offering around 9m. I slapped a 20m price tag on him which Man Utd and Arsenal stumped up and my chairman accepted.

Players In:

I've spent hours today scouting and looking at potential signings and unfortunately this is the best I have come up with. There just doesn't seem to be the players in the usual places I can find them.

Chris Roome (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/roome.jpg)

One for the future and to be used as a backup left back.

Nicolas Moreira (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/moreira.jpg)

Looks like a decent target man and cost me nothing.

Murat Bora (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bora.jpg)

Looks liek a solid defender that has a lot of years ahead of him.

Matteo Mascia (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/mascia.jpg)

To be used as a DM.

Mathieu Remy (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/remy.jpg)

He may not look amazing but I think he has all the right attributes for a winger.

Claudio Rinaldi (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/rinaldi.jpg)

Should be my first choice left back, looks handy from set pieces as well.

Tomas Holomek (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/holomek.jpg)

Truly one for the future, my scouts think he'll become a leading Premier League full back. I'll probably just leave him in the reserves for the season but hopefully he'll be good enough in a couple of years for someone in the future.

Eder (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/eder.jpg)

Another signing for the future, I won't actually get to manage him due to the U-18 law in Brazil but my scouts were raving about him so I though I'd get him for the next manager.

I can't say I'm really that pleased with the signings so far apart from the two youngsters, but there will be more signings as I have 20m left and the squad still needs a few more players.

that was a quick profit on Semenov!! fair play though... as for the new players, Moreira looks pretty good, Bora looks like a good signing, Remy looks like he'll get up and down the wing supplying the goals, and Eder is his natural heir once he arrives.

as for not being happy with those players, i for one know i would be!! plus there's still plenty of money in the bank....

also, will you put me back on the list too for the Monkeys bermy? i promise my updates will be better next time too...

Legends FC - August

Results

Derby vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/derby.jpg)

It was shame to lose our first game in the top flight but it was a tough match, Derby finished 5th last season.

Portsmouth vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/portsmouth.jpg)

Didn't have to wait too long for the first win, and what a way to do it, against the club I support. Nice to see new signing Moreira finding the net again, with Pedro now out for 2-3 weeks he could become my first choice striker.

Legends vs Plymouth (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/plymouth.jpg)

Another great win which put us top of the league. Chelsea haven't played a game yet, but who cares. The Legends are top of the league \o/

Legends vs Swindon (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/swindon.jpg)

Got a bit lucky with the draw here but I had a chance to win it when Popov couldn't find the target when clean through in the final minute.

Man Utd vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/manutd.jpg)

Got totally outclassed in this match by the club who finished 4th last season.

Swansea vs Legends (Carling Cup 2nd round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/swansea.jpg)

I put out a weak team for this match and nearly paid the price, I brought on the big boys late on and they did the job.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-47.jpg)

Not a bad position to be in, certainly a lot better than I was expecting.

Squad and Transfers

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-49.jpg)

Pedro and Turnball are both currently transfer listed by request, I don't really want to lose Turnball but I'm thinking about cashing in on Pedro. How much do you think I should go for?

Transfers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/transfers-32.jpg)

No players out but I was still yet to spend a lot of the money from the other sales so here's the new boys:

Lourenco Cardosa (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/cardoso.jpg)

Popov was the only left winger at the club so I knew I had to strengthen there as I didn't want to play him out wide.

Pat Snodin (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/snodin.jpg)

Recognise him Robert? You had him on loan in the 2020/21 season.

Marco Giorgi (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/giorgi.jpg)

For 20k I just couldn't say no.

Jose (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/jose.jpg)

Another future transfer for a lucky manager, could he be the special one?

Frantisek Stepanek (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/stepanek.jpg)

The fans loved this signing and it finally gives me the extra option I needed in midfield.

Paul O'Hanlon (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/ohanlon.jpg)

My reserve goalie is a whiney old git so I had been looking for a promising looking young keeper.

Emiliano Hoxha (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hoxha.jpg)

The big one, this was my big transfer of the summer. It's a bit of a risk with the huge transfer fee but he just looks like he has goals in him. I'll probably call him 'The Hox'.

You could add it to the end of the original opening post, or if you want I could try something sneaky to get an extra post inserted at the start that you could edit.

Some real quality signings there. The Hox especially looks awesome, as does Stepanek. I thought selling the Ukranian might be a mistake, but looks like it's enabled you to completely overhaul the squad.

Would be neater to have it's own post I think. If you can insert one that I can edit, I'll sort out the rest - that would be great.

While on the subject, I'll be gone for the first two weeks of Sep so could do with a volunteer to keep things ticking over - it obviously doesn't take all that much effort other than adding people to the list, updating each teams progress and keeping an eye on who's up next etc. If you wanted to do it, great, if not, sure one of the other regulars would be more than happy.

Legends FC - September

With the transfer window closed it was time to really concentrate on the matches ahead.

Legends vs Spurs (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/spurs.jpg)

What a fantastic game, the Hox scored on his debut, Pedro got a hattrick and Ridleys got a 5 rating.

Legends vs Wigan (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/wigan.jpg)

Held on a bit at the end but a Moreira double was enough for the win, there was a bit of a scare late on as Wigan had a goal disallowed.

Chelsea vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/chelsea.jpg)

A bit unlucky really, that penalty decision earnt me a touchline ban as well.

Legends vs Portsmouth (Carling Cup 3rd Round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/pompey.jpg)

I was suspended for this match so I picked a slightly weakened team and sat back and watched my assman make some key subs which won us the game.

Liverpool vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/liverpool.jpg)

Another silly penalty conceded made it pretty hard to win at New Anfield.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-48.jpg)

A pretty good position to be in, especially since three of the defeats have come at the hands of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-50.jpg)

The Hox has made a great start to his time at the club although I will be looking for more goals out of him. It looks like the new signings have gelled quite well already but hopefully there's more to come.

Next months sees the 4th round of the Carling Cup where we face the supposedly easy task of League 1 Doncaster at home. Do I dare to send out a weak team?

Legends FC - October

Legends vs Leeds (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leeds.jpg)

Amazing result, the Hox was unstoppable.

Legends vs Coventry (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/coventry.jpg)

Another fantastic result and another stunning game from the Hox.

Colchester vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/colchester.jpg)

After the last two games this was a disappointing result. We came on strong towards the end but a disallowed goal and a few missed chances meant we had to settle for the draw.

Legends vs Doncaster (Carling Cup 4th Round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/doncaster.jpg)

Just three of my usual starting eleven played this game and although we didn't really play that well we were good enough to get the result we needed.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-49.jpg)

A great position to be in, but still a bit too early to start speculating over where we could finish.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-51.jpg)

He must have heard what I said last month as the Hox has exploded onto the scene with 11 goals in his last 5 games which won him the player of the month award.

Next month sees another kind draw in the Carling Cup quarter finals as we have been drawn away to the only Championship side left in the competition, Brighton.

Legends FC - November

Legends vs Sunderland (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sunderland.jpg)

This was a tough game against 3rd placed Sunderland who won a match that could have gone either way.

Aston Villa vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/villa.jpg)

A really poor game, even though the first goal was a lucky deflection we never really looked in the game.

Legends vs Arsenal (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/arsenal-1.jpg)

A third defeat in a row has really brought us back down to earth with a thud. Again it was a by a single goal and what makes it worse is that it was offside (and the FA agreed with me).

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-50.jpg)

Those three defeats have really hurt our league position, with a relegation battle now a lot more likely than it was a month ago. Hopefully with a good run of form we can challenge for the European places again.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-52.jpg)

Turnball now wants to stay, although a contract extension is a bit expensive at the moment.

The youth and training facilities have just been upgraded, meaning we now have 'top training facilities' and 'good youth facilities'.

I got it wrong last month, the Carling Cup match is actually at the start of December so hopefully that will be the end of the poor results.

Legends FC - December

Everton vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/everton-1.jpg)

At least it ended the run of defeats.

Brighton vs Legends (Carling Cup quarter final) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/brighton.jpg)

With the recent run of form I didn't risk resting players this time. I sent my first team out and they scraped through.

Legends vs Newcastle (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/newcastle.jpg)

The last thing I needed right now was a visit from the Premier League leaders.

Legends vs Bolton (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bolton.jpg)

Just what we needed, a dominant display brought us the league win at last.

Fulham vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/fulham.jpg)

Some woeful defending led to yet another defeat.

Legends vs Portsmouth (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/portsmouth-1.jpg)

Brought on in the 87th minute, a player you might recognise who hadn't played for a while provided a vital goal.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-51.jpg)

After the early run of good form in now looks like our true league position is clearer. I think I'd be disppointed now if I finished 10th but that's still a decent league position for our firt year in the top flight.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-53.jpg)

Shocking news as the chairman accepted a bid of just 8m for Pedro, on the 1st January he will become a Posrtsmouth player.

The stadium expansion has been completed, which we promptly sold out at our next game. We also have a new feeder club who some of you might recognise, Almirante Brown.

Next month is a busy one with the transfer window opening, I think I'll need to bring in a cheap striker to cover for the Pedro sale. Next month also sees two cup ties with a home game against Palace in the FA Cup 3rd round and a two legged tie against Bolton in the Carling Cup semi final.

Legends FC - January

Plymouth vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/plymouth-1.jpg)

Gutted not to win this game, the second Plymouth goal was a mile offside (and the FA agreed with me again)

Legends vs Crystal Palace (FA Cup 3rd Round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/palace.jpg)

I didn't risk resting any players, this was my first team. It was nice for the Hox to get back into scoring form.

Bolton vs Legends (Carling Cup Semi Final first leg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/boltonl1.jpg)

Gutted to lose like that, especially with Popov of all people giving away the penalty. It's not over yet but making the final looks unlikely.

Legends vs Derby (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/derby-1.jpg)

Payback for the opening day of the season, this was a huge win.

Swindon vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/swindon-1.jpg)

A horrible game, I just can't seem to find any consistency at the moment.

Legends vs Bolton (Carling Cup Semi Final second leg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/boltonl2.jpg)

A crazy result which sees us through to the final where we face high flying Newcastle.

Bristol Rovers vs Legends (FA Cup 4th Round) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bristolr.jpg)

Again, the first team was sent out against Championship opposition but nobody expected this result.

Legends vs Man Utd (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/manu-1.jpg)

Fantastic result, lucky, but fantastic.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-52.jpg)

Looks like I'm destined for mid table mediocrity, I'm not going to catch teams like Liverpool but at the same time I hope I'm not going to be dragged down with teams like Plymouth.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-54.jpg)

Despite the 8m sale of Pedro, I've decided not to sign a new striker. I have Giacomelli at the club who has hardly played so I'd prefer to give him a few games if we get a few injuries.

There was just one signing, another player for the future:

Liverpool are not too far away to catch up with.

As you saw last year we caught swindon up by 12 points, in only the last couple of months of the season! However this is the Premiership so that makes it about 1000 times harder.

Doing great so far, 12 points away from the relegation zone, which should be enough to keep you safe.

Carling Cup Final

Final Score (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/finalscore.jpg)

Newcastle came out and pushed hard in the second half, scrambling home a goal to make it 1-2 in the 66th minute. They then committed the most innocuous foul on Remy as they cleared the ball from their area. Rinaldi stepped up, and hit it straight at their keeper. Just as things were getting really nervy Moreira scored from a delightful through ball from Popov. He then added his second in a goalmouth scramble caused by an excellent Remy cross. The Legends had won the cup!

It sounds like you don't have administrator privileges on your account. To make it work you'll have to install the game while logged in on the administrator account.

Well that's all I can think of anyway.

It worked fine for me and I have Vista.

GazTheDoood

I agree there.

I'l describe as best I can.
It installs fine, as it should.

Then it works, but gets to the loading page, with the balck screen, and the little football, it redirects to windows, and gives the message I mentioned before.

It won't patch either, when it updates file 48 out of 48 from the rapidshare mirror download, it says i do not have sufficient rights again.

Probably something to do with administration on the Laptop.

This looks promising.
I right clicked, after doiong a complete, clean re-install, and clicked run as administrator, after what you and aaberdeenn said, and its the first time it has loaded properly.

I'll re-download the patch, and reinstall that.
Then i'll update how thats gone.

Hopefully, after transferring the save game, I can update you on the transfer window at some point tomorrow.
With a free weekend ahead, i should be done for early next week.

Legends FC - March

Legends vs Chelsea (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/chelsea-1.jpg)

Super sub Giacomelli does it again, snatching a winner in an evenly matched game.

Leeds vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leeds-1.jpg)

Brilliant stuff, the passing and movement was similar to how we started the season.

Coventry vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/coventry-1.jpg)

They just seemed awesome, they seemed to score from every good chance they had.

Sunderland vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/sunderland-1.jpg)

The league leaders were just too much for us, there was just nothing we could do to stop them.

League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-54.jpg)

Our charge up the table was halted with those two heavy defeats, there's still an outside chance of finishing around 5th but I'm predicting a 9th placed finish.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-56.jpg)

The Hox has been immense, as has Rinaldi from set pieces. With just months left on his contract, Popov has signed a 5 year extension (thanks to a bit of budget adjustment) fantastic news.

Bizarrely I got invited to the Inter-Toto Cup, which I declined on the grounds that we had already qualified for Europe.

Legends FC - April/May

Legends vs Aston Villa (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/villa-1.jpg)

The Hox strikes again.

Legends vs Colchester (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/colchester-1.jpg)

This was a lot harder than it looked, Colchester had a huge number of shots off target.

Arsenal vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/arsenal-2.jpg)

We pushed hard in the second half but missed a lot of chances, a GK error finally sealed our fate in this match against 2nd placed Arsenal.

Legends vs Everton (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/everton-2.jpg)

This was looking like a dull 0-0 until we suddenly sprang into life.

Bolton vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bolton-1.jpg)

We were getting completely outplayed but in the last 10 minutes a draw looked a possibility. A defensive error made sure that wasn't going to happen.

Legends vs Fulham (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/fulham-1.jpg)

The most exciting thing that happened in this match was the debut of 16 year old Tomas Holomek who came on for the last 1o minutes.

Newcastle vs Legends (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/newcastle-1.jpg)

Things didn't look too promising as we went back to the team we defeated in the cup final. To make things worse, first choice keeper James Hardy missed his first game of the season so in stepped 17 year old Paul O'Hanlon. He didn't have the best of games as Newcastle dominated us.

Final League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league-55.jpg)
League Positions Graph (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leaguepos-30.jpg)

We had a fantastic start and managed to hold that position through out the season. I think 8th place was a fantastic achievement for the Legends' first season in the top flight.

FA Cup (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bristolr.jpg)

I was gutted it ended like this, I was really hoping for a good run in this competition.

Carling Cup (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/finalscore.jpg)

This made the season, winning this was a tremendous achievement and guaranteed the Legends European football next season.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad-57.jpg)
Transfers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/transfers-33.jpg)

This is a great squad that only really needs strengthening with a new goalie and a new central defender. The three new Brazilians set to join the club should bolster their options up front.

Here's the team:

GK - James Hardy (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hardy.jpg)

He's been at the club since League 2 and with the exit of Mikel LUFC he has become the number one choice. Room for improvement here, O'Hanlon may be the goalie for the future but Hardy could be replaced in the meantime.

DL - Claudio Rinaldi (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/rinaldi-1.jpg)

Immense from set pieces, Rinaldi did the lot. He was a great signing for me, costing just 800k.

DR - Allan James (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/james.jpg)

Another weak position, Holomek will take this position in the future but there's room for improvement in the meantime.

DC - Murat Bora (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/bora-1.jpg)

A solid signing.

DC - Lukas Kovarik (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/kovarik.jpg)

Roatated between DC and DR, he did a good enough job.

DM - Matteo Mascia (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/mascia-1.jpg)

Cost me 2.4m, he's been a great signing.

ML - Lourenco Cardoso (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/cardoso-1.jpg)

His value hasn't gone up, but he has provided a lot of assists.

MR - Mathieu Remy
(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/remy-1.jpg)
Did exactly what I was hoping he would do, bomb down the wing and banged the crosses in. Looks like a decent signing for 2.5m

AMC - Kenan Popov (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/popov.jpg)

Already at the club, the question was just where do I play him? He could have easily played as a striker but he was great in midfield.

ST - Nicolas Moreira (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/moreira-1.jpg)

Signed on a free transfer believe it or not.

ST - Emiliano Hoxha (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/hoxha-1.jpg)

He was the big money transfer at 13.25m but he really showed he was worth it. 45 goals from 41 games is an incredible achievement in the Premier League.

Once again, I've really enjoyed my season with the softies and I'll be sad to see them go. I'd like to think I've put Mikel LUFC in a good position, with a strong squad, 45m in the bank and the prospect of European football next season.

End of Transfer Window update:

Well, here it is, better late than never.

Two pieces of good news and two pieces of bad news to start the update.
The good news, Paul Wallace has been rewarded for his overachievement last season with a new three year contract and a stadium expansion has been announced, however only of 900 seats, not great, but better than nothing.
Now the bad news, the contracts of two first team squad members, Lukas and Filip were due to expire, neither of them were willing to negotiate terms, so both were offered to clubs. Lukas had a bid of 1.6m reluctantly accepted, however Filip had no bids so joined Stoke on a free transfer.

After taking an in-depth look at the squad, it was obvious to me that it needed strengthening if we were to successfuly mount a serious promotion challenge. I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nep, for a fantastic overachieving season with the squad at his disposal.
The transfer budget after player sales was around 4.5m, and with a good amount of wage budget remaining, I was quietly confident that the squad could be strengthened sufficiently to challenge for promotion.
I decided that the wing back position on either side, the left wing, and in goal were my main priorities to strengthen.

Tactically, I went with this: http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Tactic.jpg

It is based on fast, counter-attacking football, but stabilises the midfield with barrow on a more defensive minded player. The barrow on the striker encourages one-twos and assists when he drops deep.

Pre season went well, with some very good results:

Ten Ton 1 - 1 Rushden
Ten Ton 3 - 0 Duisburg
Ten Ton 1 - 1 Palermo
Ten Ton 2 - 2 Real Sociedad
Ten Ton 3 - 0 Napoli

Particularly pleasing were the two 3 - 0 victories over decent opposition :)

The transfer market in my opinion was very successful.

Players in:

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Nordin.jpg
As I mentioned, signing a goalkeeper was high priority, when this guy was recommended I jumped at the chance to sign him. He fits the bill perfectly, he would be a good signing for most premier division sides and has invaluable experience, especially on the international scene.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Okolie.jpg
A centre back wasn't really a main priority, however when this guy popped up at such a cheap price, I signed him without hesitation. Has the potential to improve further.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Vychodil.jpg
Now this guy has talent, can play both wings well, and has fantastic potential, a very pleasing signing, beating out a couple of Serie A sides for his signature.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Sinclair.jpg
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Webber.jpg
Wing-back talent was few and far between after the departure of Lukas, and these two will slot straight into the team on either side, both are playing at their full potential, which is a leading star for most championship sides.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Pedersen.jpg
I am very excited about this one, who as my most expensive signing of the season so far, has the potential to be a leading premier division player in the future, may also feature heavily this season as Mark Perry has just been injured for 4 months. Can play in a variety of midfield roles also.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/Henriques.jpg
After being released by Los Angeles, I thought there was minimal chance he would join us on trial, he did, and the coaches were impressed, due to his low contract demands, I did not take much convincing to bring him along. May play a key role.

There was also only one more sale of note, with Allan Leigh who was not rated highly enough to make it here joining Exeter for a tidy 250k.

One downside is that key players, Pedro and Petrov are unhappy at having bids rejected for them. In fairness, none of the bids given were remotely close to what their asking price is.
Although we did survive a deadline day scare. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd312/gazob123/DeadlineDay.jpg

With the transfer window over, I was very happy with signings I had made, and although dissapointed at the loss of Lukas and Filip, I felt the squad was stronger, and ready to push hard for promotion.

The start to the season was difficult with the first three games against teams predicted to finish 4th, 2nd and 3rd respectively. These three games would let me know how we compared to other top teams in the league, and would truly show me if we were ready to compete.

August Update:

Ten Ton 7 - 0 Bristol City
Petrov (8,67,90)
Vychodil (11,47)
Palmer (36)
Dunn (69)
Well. I told you it was a seven goal thriller. Bristol City never showed up, it was fantastci to watch though, a perfect day was rounded off by a Petrov hat-trick, after club legend Dunn scoring on his return debut.

Ten Ton 4 - 0 Nott'm Forest (League Cup 1st Round)
Petrov (16,90)
Dunn (19,78)
An easy victory over a lower league club, nice to see Dunn fall straight back into his old form.

Sunderland 4 - 2 Ten Ton
Petrov (10)
Palmer (64)
Dissapointed, but played against a good team, we didn't disgrace ourselves at all, and in my, albeit biased, opinion, we deserved a point. On a brighter note, Petrov's goal scoring form continues.

Ten Ton 3 - 0 Swansea
Dunn (67,78,90)
A great result against a fellow promotion contender, Dunn was brought on as a 60th minute replacement for a dissapointing Palmer, and completely changed the game. He really is a legend.

Brentford 1 - 0 Ten Ton (League Cup 2nd Round)
I have no idea how we lost this game, we outshot them 29-1, and lost 1-0, not what I had in mind. Dissapointed to end our League Cup campaign so prematurely.

Swindon 0 - 2 Ten Ton
Pedersen (34)
Henriques (52)
A really good result, and completely deserved, a screamer from Pedersen set us off, and a really good team goal finished by Henriques made sure, meant we ended the month in 4th.

All in all, a good month, gutted about the cup, but our league form is good, our defence, although shaky against Sunderland, has looked good since, and our attack is as potent as ever.
Also, we have played 3 top 4 predicted teams, and won 2, so it truly shows we deserve to be up at the top.

September Update:

Ten Ton 1 - 1 Coventry
Pedro (86)
A game I would have preffered to have won, and probably should have. It looked like a loss, as we were not taking our chances, but a late Pedro free-kick spared our blushes.

Plymouth 1 - 3 Ten Ton
Petrov (60,80)
Palmer (88)
A good victory from 1-0 down at half time, a Petrov brace and a late Palmer goal put away a poor Plymouth side.

Ten Ton 5 - 2 Southend
Petrov (19,54)
Vychodil (38)
Pedro (87,pen 90)
A great victory, but made to look better by two late Pedro goals, another smashing free-kick and a penalty. Thouroughly deserved three points here.

Ten Ton 1 - 1 Stoke
Petrov (90)
Another game I would have liked to have won, but it looked like 'one of those games' where there is nothing you can do, however our all out attacking paid off in the last minute when Petrov scored a tap in at the near post. We shouldn't have conceded tbh, but a mistake from Webber let them in.

All in all, an undefeated month, but we dropped a place, I would have liked a month full of wins, but it was not to be. Petrov is winning the Golden Boot race again, and we are comfortably inside the play-offs.

I'm contemplating whether to join in. I'm awful at the game, particularly at the higher levels where transfers come with price tags. So it's up to you lot to persuade me. If I did join, I'd be Paul Wallace as I'm a fan of Ten Ton. But this isn't an official joining post, so I won't add 3IAR. Persuade me to play, go on.
You did add '3IAR' :p

In all seriousness, I thought I was rubbish at the game, but the pressure of having to good, for everyone else on the team, spurred me on. It's great fun, no matter how bad at the game you think you are.

Ridleys
23-08-2008, 20:53
Yeah even if you're rubbish at the game, like Frazza ;) it's still fun. Just get the scouts scouting and buy the good players, then find a good formation and play. It's greatttttt fun :D

Well everybody does a season each roberto, then it changes hands so I think that you'll be next, once Mikel LUFC is done.

Good to see all you lads wanting to join in. Just shows you the daf's influence eh? Anyway, will add you all in once I feel a bit more sober. The general principle is that newcomers can go ahead of anyone who' played before, as long as they have no serious objections. Will update the lists later.

Good luck all, and make sure you know all the rules: they're not meant to be complex, but they help keep all the onlookers happy. Also, people have lately been doing very detailed updates, which is great; you don't need to do it quite like that, but it's so much better for everyone else if you do.

GO on then. I'll stick my name down on the waitinig list for a slot as manager of the Softies.

I might even have got all the way through the thread by the time I am needed.

One question though.....

Does anyone mind if I play to my own existing rules, ie. only buy players that I have scouted/trialled and whatever little idiosyncracies I have.

ps. You know I'm gonna give the whole squad nicknames and find a GK who can score free-kicks ;)

Comments from Season 1.

Northern Monkeys.

Bermybhoy. Bloomin hell! Ben Connolly is phenomenal for that level. How the hell did you nab him?

Hawley looks decent too. Decent pace, acceleration, determination and finishing. He doesn't need anything ese at this level does he.

Congratulations on a very decent league finish, (it might prove to be a blessing in disguise that you didn't go straight up at the first attempt). Probably your greatest achievement was making 55k from selling players though. Very impressive.

Southern Softies.

Robert296. Olly Kenney (pmsl), looks like the testing team have been doing a little bit of unpaid overtime.

Congratulations on promotion but what exactly have you got against draws.

The difference between the 2 sides seems to be the Arsenal players that the Southern Softies were able to get in.

[Whisper mode] You do know that feeder relationships in the UK are outlawed;)

I would like to join in late to this so could I be put on the waiting list for one of the teams, don't really mind which one.

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on. (Mrs Doyle style). It's all about the fun of it. TBH, if we'd all been brilliant and got straight promotions the whole way through, it would've been boring.

Anyway, even Nep managed to get us relegated once, you can't do worse than that ;)

EDIT: I've added you anyway.

Hats off to you for going through this buddy  I should warn you there's a couple of 'wrong turns' in there - ie people who started and inexplicably quit without warning (HunterKiller and The zogsageordie spring to mind, might have been others).

Anyway, this is a right memory test, but I seem to recall that Connelly was unhappy at his club and on the transfer list, which made him interested, then offering the max possible wages sealed the deal. I was excited about Hawley but he never turned into the legend I thought he might.

You'll come across the whole debate about use of parent clubs (especially Arsenal - cheats!) soon enough. It should be in the rules that it's not allowed, but there's no point adding it now....

Everyone: I've added a load of new people to the list. I hope no-one who's been displaced is too annoyed. If anyone wants to play about with the order they're in, let me know and we can try and sort that out. Here's (http://community.sigames.com/showpost.php?p=677582&postcount=2) the list.

Congratulations to aaberdeen for an excellent title winning campaign, (season 2), and comisserations to NepentheZ on failure to avoid the drop, (gutted), (season 3).

I would guess that we play the game in a very similar way and to be honest I really don't take too much notice of my opening season in any save I play as it's more about creating a team and avoiding relegation rather than doing anything else. In your case it was extra hard because in effect Ten Ton were playing in a league above their standard due to aaberdeens impressive season.

I'm slowly going through tha pages of the thread but I have noticed that I have been pushed to the head of the queue and as a potential manager of the Northern Monkeys rather than the Southern Softies. That's not a problem, I will manage anyone who will have me.

I'll have a little read over the last couple of pages and make some notes so I can try to get up to speed on what's what and who's who in the Northern Monkeys but I do have a few questions.........

1. GazTheDood. How do you do the red "titled" writing that you used in your reports? I like the look of that.

2. Anyone Is it possible to use bold anymore? test, or is the red stuff the new equivelant of the old bold?

3. When does anyone think I might be called upon to show my ineptness at FM08? (Not sure how far through the most recent guy is).

4. Can some of the more recent Northern Monkey managers either do a bit of a recap here for me on what worked for them with the squad and who were the big players and possible even the ones that got away, (I've got form for re-signing players that I have been forced to let go).

5. Whoever is due next on the list after me, have a look at what the guys tell me in terms of squad make-up and strengths and then tell me how you like to play. I will use my season as a season of stability and try to build for the future and there is no point me doing that if I don not plan to play to your strengths.

6. As this appears completely different to any FM game I have ever played In feel that as part of a "team" my LLM no tactics rule has to be ignored and we have to discuss tactics in earnest. I will obviously do what I think but as we are a "team" taking it in turns to progress the same vlub then it makes sense.

7. My tactics. Just so everyone knows where my tactical strength lies in FM08, I'll give you a bit of an overview so that you might be able to advise me better.

My GK will score. [end of].
I like to play a flat back 4 with average-poor quality DC's and decent attacking full-backs.

I like to play 3 in the middle of the pitch, (sometimes with 1 in front of the back 4, sometimes a middle 3 and sometimes a man in the hole). 2 of these 3 players can be limited ability "grafters" but 1 has to have real quality on the ball and I will trade physical ability for that little bit of class in this 1 position only.

I like to play with 2 talented speedy wide-men, (who are the real stars of the show). They see a lot of the ball, often in advanced positions.

I like to play with 1 man up front. He might start in a withdrawn position leaving nobody for the DC's to mark without coming out to him, or he might start up front but be asked to "barrow" back. In either case he will be a strong hard working grafter whose role is to link the blay and hold the ball up rather that score the goals, (although that is a bonus). He MUST be able to head the ball, although we will not be playing out and out long balls.

If any of you can let me know how the current team might fit in with this style, (or suggest an alternative), then I will give it some consideration. Consider it a "handover".

8. Current GK's. HAs anyone looked at the goal-scoring abilities of the current GK's?
What are their free-kick ratings?
What are their pen ratings?
Has a GK ever scored for either team?

I hope to have McIlmurray, (Mosside GK), score his 100th goal for the club either tonight or tomorrow night so that would be an idea time for me to have a little go at this.

Cheers in advance guys.

If you have signed a young player or brought them through the youth academy, you may use the nickname function to give them a sensible name of your choosing. You can then ask for progress reports on such players in future seasons

You clearly didn't look hard enough.

Another note to all: I'm going to be away on holiday for the first two weeks in September. I'm going to be horrendously busy between now and then so probably won't be popping in too much before that either.

Could one of the more experienced managers in here (as in, someone's who been around from the start) possibly take responsibility for keeping things ticking over? I just mean letting people know who's next and/or switching order if necessary, and prodding people to get a move on if they're taking ages over it. The thread now more or less looks after itself anyway, but it would be much appreciated. If anyone fancies doing it, could you maybe PM me, cheers.

So there was a lot of optimism in the legends camp after their great season last year and Roberts had a hard job matching that performance but he started the season in good spirits and pre-season went very well for the legends. Results (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/preseasonresults.jpg). The obvious standout result is the demolishing (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/OMFG.jpg) of AZ but the other results wern't too bad.
Right onto the squad. The squad that was there was a very capable squad but Roberts noticed it could be imroved in a few areas, also he wanted to inject some youth and keep the team set for the future. Transfers (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/transfers-1.jpg).

Eder (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/eder.jpg)
Brought in by Daf, looks like a good winger.
Eder Nobre (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/edernobre.jpg)
Again brought in by Daf, give him a few years could be handy.
Vukisic (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/vukisic.jpg)
Has what I look for in a centre-back could be a contender for a 1st team spot in a few years. Needs WP though.
Critescu (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/critescu.jpg)
Quality keeper. Sums it up really, GK was one of our weakest positions but no longer.
Santos (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/santos.jpg%5D)
I took a pop on this lad and for 190k it may pay off. Again needs WP.
Roquero (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/roquero.jpg)
I beleive that this player has great potential and for a free, it may be a great bit of business. Again needs WP. (I didn't really read those messages about work permits so it's my fault about all these players not being able to play)
Buxton (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/Buxton.jpg)
I thought a right winger was needed as Remy doesn't cut it for me and Buxton fit the bill perfectly plus he has many years ahead of him. 6.75mill is a fair amount but I beleive it's worth it.
Bruno (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/bruno.jpg)
Scouts rave about his potential saying he'll be a great player so this boy must be kept at all costs.
Felipe (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/felipe.jpg)
Same as Bruno, but I think this lad won't quite be as good but still an excellent player.
Wijngaarde (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/wijn.jpg)
Will never be amazing but he can be sold in a few seasons for a decent profit.
Pereyra (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/pereyra.jpg)
Was meant to be 4th striker but again due to my impacience I skipped the message about his WP so he doesn't have one, will be sold as by the time he gets a WP he'll be too old.
Gutierrez (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/gutierrez.jpg)
Has decent potential but again he has been bought to mak a profit later on.
Damiano (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/damiano.jpg)
Scouts say he could be as good as Popov so for 400k not bad at all.
Jeffrey (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/jeffrey.jpg)
He was bought to push the 1st choice centre backs as I feel what we already had couldn't do that.
Gilvan (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/gilvan.jpg)
He'll join when he turns 18. Looks a very handy player, I have high hopes.
Jose (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/jose.jpg)
Same as Gilvan. I fancy him and Gilvan could lead the line in a few years.
Vinicius (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/vinicius.jpg)
Again will join when he hits 18. Strong looking centre back.

There will be another young player (left mid) and hopefully a right back coming in the few days.
