Instructions option during game greyed out

As the title says, for some reason my Instructions option during the game is greyed out, not enabling me to give out Shout instructions for example, why is that?

My guess is you are using a classic tactic and not one created by the tactics creator

Yes the tactic is not a pre-made one, but why does that grey out the instructions option?!

If it's a classic tactic you can't use shouts.

If you go to the tactics screen, then on the left side of the screen, below starting tactic, click options, what options do you get there?

If you get 'save', 'manage tactics', and then a greyed out 'convert to classic' you are using a classic tactic and the shouts won't work.

yes that is the case indeed. But still, why cant I use the shouts?

It doesn't work with a classic tactic. So the things the shouts would alter can't be altered since the classic tactic overrules the usual instructions. Or something like that. I can't really explain it.

So either do the adjustments yourself or make a new tactic using the tactics creator

If you click a box in any of the players instructions i.e. Mentality its doesn't change when team emphasis is changed from attacking to defensive. Where classic tactics basically clicks all the players instructions then they cant be changed so this disabling shouts.

If you need to change the mentality of the team, you will have to change it manually, the same for width, tempo etc.
