Here we go again! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Thanks for your patience while I sorted the errors out and apologies once more. However, we can now start with a clean slate and see who come out on top. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
The Background (It's a little different this time...)
For many years, the Treasure Islands (a group of islands rich in natural resources situated in the Caribbean) had no footballing pedigree. Under the colonial rule of the French, any good players were whipped off to French acadamies at a young age and ended up playing in the French leagues. Some even appeared for France at international level as FIFA refused to grant the islands full membership and so football floundered despite a strong love for the game from the inhabitants.
That all changed recently, however, as the islands received their long desired independence due to many prominent groups wanting greater access to the islands for investement and use of the natural resources. Under immense international pressure, France relinquished control of the islands and independence was gained.
This brought great joy to many youngsters around the islands whose dreams of footballing glory could now be realised in the colours of their own nation. In the Northern Treasure Islands, which had developed from a merchants trading post into a major international business centre offering tax dodges to the world’s rich, Capital City Merchants FC was established. At the same time in the Southern Islands, famed for their world class casinos (which rob the world's rich of their tax-free earnings from the North http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and dark past as a haven for pirates, Cove Bay Pirates was formed. Both teams received huge investment particulalrly in youth facilities as a great buzz was building up around the up and coming generation of youngsters.
Alas, attempts to bring these two clubs together only served to create a huge rivalry. Over the course of a few games, the Cove Bay Pirates consistently came out on top and this led to all sorts of accusations. The Northern merchants complained that the bookies from the South had offered bribes to the officials and the FA to ensure complete dominance and maximum gambling profits. The league fixtures they played were duly scrapped causing the Southern Islanders to accuse the North of having key FA members and officials in their pockets in an attempt to gain the upper hand. (Thanks for the idea Valencia http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
Accepting that any games domestically would always be rife with allegations and disputes, the Treasure Islands FA made a surprising move, inspired by the English F.A.s ‘Game 39’ plans for holding matches abroad - they decided to take the two clubs abroad to play in a mutually acceptable ‘neutral league’. The French FA, desperate not to lose a valuable pool of talent, immediately offered to host the clubs but were flatly refused. Holland was chosen instead due to its reputation for equality and tolerance plus the fact that two 1st Division sides, TOP and FC Omniworld, had recently folded allowing the City Merchants and Cove Bay to join with ease.
The split was so acrimonius that the two sides of the Islands refused to even join up to play as one national team and made seperate applications to join FIFA. Both applicaitons were accepted on condition of finding a continental confederation to accept them. Both groups of islands promptly joined the North American confederation (after an attempt to join the SOuth American one only caused untold problems http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).
And so the stage is set: Capital City Merchants and Cove Bay will finally go head-to-head once more in the Dutch leagues and the Northern and Southern Treasure Islands will face off interntionally in the North American arena.
So you know the history, you’ve seen the teams: Which team will be more succesful in the league? Which nations’ players will rise to the top of world football? How will the new nations fare in international competition? And who will come out on top when these fierce rivals go head-to-head on the pitch? Now it’s time for the rivalry to begin! (again http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)

* In a major coup, Cove Bay Pirates managed to get a Northern Treasure Islander on their team. How will this affect his relationship with his teammates at club and international level? Time will tell...
Good good http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Game set-up, aims and expectations
The main aim here obviously is to track the progress of the players at these two clubs through their club and international careers.
As well as the Dutch league, I will be running the all divisions from England, top two from Spain, Italy and Germany and top flight only from Belgium (as a few player were heading that way last time) and France (just for some extra heat http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).
I will post screenies of the players and squads at the end of each season basis. Updates will be given at various stages throughout the season for the clubs/nations and there will be transfer window updates for the players. I will also post news of anything else of particular interest that pops up in the game.
There will be match reports for the rivals’ clashes at club and international level as well as relevant screenies and stats. Once the players move on from the clubs (as they inevitably will), I will keep a ‘Rivals watch’ going, looking out for any of the players coming up on opposing teams elsewhere in Europe.
All I ask from those of you invloved is to post as often as you can: let’s say once a season game time at least. If you don’t seem to be posting, then I won’t mention your player so much. For the regular contributors, I will feel much more inclined to give news and respond to requests.
I'm starting from the beginning again so I will keep track of who is posting as though we are going from the beginning again as well. A few people didn'T post in the last thread so I will expect them to this time.
So, heres a few new questions to get you thinking:-
How will the clubs perform in the league second time around? Will one (or both) of the teams manage to get promotion again?
Who will be first to move? Where will the players go?
How will the national teams fare? Will they be able to qualify for the World Cup or perform well enough to get invited to the Gold Cup?
By the way, in order to avoid confusion and save space for myself, I will be deleting the screenshots from the previous thread from my photobucket account soon. I figure they are not needed anymore but I just thought I'd warn you http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Hope its second time lucky and we don't lose to those pirates so humiliatingly again... http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The Story So Far....
Not a lot to report as we head into the first 'friendly' betwen our two nations. There have been three games in the league so far and it is Capital City Merchants who have made the better start. They sit 5th with 6 points (P 3 W 2 D 0 L 1).
Cove Bay are curently 11th having collected 4 points to date (P 3 W 1 D 1 L 1).
Onto our first game then http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Northern Treasure Islands v. Southern Treasure Islands (Friendly International)
Date: 04.09.07
Venue: Capital City Stadium
NTI Team News - The Northern Islanders had a fully fit roster of players to choose from. The only surprise was the omission of Jack Harrow despite the fact the young goalie has started all games for the Merchants so far http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
NTI Key Man: Bob McBob
STI Team News - The boys from Cove Bay had had a rougher start to the season and had five players missing for the match. They were - Kroeger (sprained wrist); Rtik (groin strain); Dave Sunderland (calf strain); Gwilym J. James (broken nose); and Jason de Mire (damaged foot).
The last two injuries in particular sparked controversy as allegations of City Merchants gangs and golf clubs arose, but were not proven.
STI Key Man: Elliot Druce
1st Half
The match kicked off in front of 36,000 Northern Treasure Islanders looking to record their first win. The boys from the South were looking for revenge for what they saw as the unjustified removal from the records of the first three meetings between the sides.
STI had the better of the opening period and Paul Hart went close early on with a powerful header. The atmosphere in the stadium, already highly-charged, threatened to boil over very early on as Adam Clatworthy was strechered off after a vicious challenge from Parker Reynolds. It was later revealed that a torn calf muscle will keep the promising left-winger out for 4 months.
STI were unperturbed though and immediately got revenge on behalf of their fallen teammate. Karayaka (a grey who was playing for some reason) broke with the ball down the right and hit a delightful cross which was duly headed home by Paul Hart to give the away side the lead after just 17 minutes.
This goal shell-shocked the hosts somewhat who remained under constant pressure for the rest of the half. Elliot Druce went close on a number of ocassions but Gregory Le Quack was in sparkling form pulling off a number of superb saves.
There was another injury before the break as General Specific pulled a hamstring, whcih will keep him out for a month.
2nd Half
STI came out looking to extend their lead and again were creating the better chances. Only a combination of luck and good defending kept the score the same. Towards the end, NTI started to get back into the match as they chased an equaliser in front of their home suporters. After a few half chances, substitute Robert Boyle was presented with a great chance in injury time. Alas, the striker volleyed wide and with that, the home team's chances ended with the final whistle.
Final Score: NTI 0 STI 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Friendly1Overview.jpg)

Southern Treasure Islands v. Northern Treasure Islands (Friendly)
Date: 10.10.07
Venue: World's End Stadium
Preamble - STI would be without Clatworthy, still recovering from the first clash. Craig Healy was identified as the one to watch by the media before the game. On the NTI side, Adam Flash was ruled out with a sprained ankle and Ryca Roseau was set to sit the game out with a bruised thigh. Rebel Israel was the key man according to the media.
1st Half - With STI looking to build on their win in the first game and NTI aiming for revenge, a cracker was in the making. And we were not to be disappointed.
The match got off to a flyer as STI went on the attack immediately. The ball came to Elliot Druce, who played a lovely through ball to Paul Hart. The striker placed a shot past the advancing keeper to score. 1-0 and only 26 seconds on the clock.
From the restart, STI won the ball again. It came to Wilkinson on the left. He floated in a cross and Hart got his head on it and sent the ball sailing into the back of the net. 3 minutes gone and the Southern Islanders were up 2-0 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
On 13 minutes, Juan Carlos beat his man and advanced down the right. he hit the cross towards.... that's right Paul Hart, who stroked the ball home for his hatrick - only 13 minutes played at this point.
NTI had no choice but to try and force their way back in. The started to get forward and break up the STI attacking moves. It paid off as Bob McBob swung in a corner and Rebel Israel rose at the far post to get his team back in it. 3-1.
The Northern Islanders continued to go forward and had good chances but it was the Southerners who had the best chance before half time as Bobihno saw his shot bounce back off the post. Tempers inevitabley flared as Gooner elbowed Hart in the face yet surprisingly only received a yellow.
2nd Half: NTI came out the stronger side as they chased the game. They had plenty of possession in the final third but failed to convert it into goals. they paid the price on 72 mins as Eduaddo collected a half-cleared corner on the edge of the area and smashed the ball into the back of the net. 4-1.
And yet the boys from the North did not give up. they went on the attack again and provided us with a grandstand finish. A well worked move saw dos Santos pick up the ball in the box. He could have shot but laid the ball back for the incoming McBob to drive home. 4-2 and 10 minutes to play.
NTI threw everything forward in search of two more goals. STI were trying to run down the clock. Brendanio was holding the ball in the corner but saw an opening as he beautifully turned his marker and swung in a cross for sub Jason de Mire to head home. 5-2, game over.

The Northern Islanders ahve a chance to avenge defeat in exactly one week when Cove Bay host the City Merchants in a league tie http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Cove Bay v. Merchants Preview
The first league game is coming round and the current situation in Division 1 looks like this. (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1PrematchTable.jpg)
As you can see, both teams are in dire need of a win, which should add some extra spice to the ocassion. (The poor form of the two sides seems to be down to some idiot forgetting to set the Dutch leagues to 'full detail http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)
Cove Bay Team News: The home team are still without their two long-term lay-offs. Clatworthy will be out for another 2 months and Adam Flash is likely to be out for another 1-2 weeks. Craig Healy is being touted by the media as the one to watch on this side.
City Merchants FC: Just one absentee for the visitors. It seems that on a night out prior to the game Alfonso da Silva Santos wondered into one of the less reputable bars of Cove Bay and came round the next day with a gashed head, which will cause him to be out of a ction for a week. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif The press have cited Ben Cee as the player who could make a difference.
So, with both teams in need of a win to kickstart their season, who will come out on top? Report coming up http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Come on the Pirates!! Aaaaargh!!

Cove Bay Pirates v. Capital City Merchants FC (Dutch First Division)
At last, the long awaited league match-up is here http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Starting Line-Ups (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1Line-Ups.jpg)
1st Half: This time, the boys from the North came flying out of the traps, determined to make up for the international defeats. And it was the Merchants who took an early lead. Roseau collected the ball centrally and played a perfect through ball for Dirtihno to slot home. 0-1 after 4 mins.
Roseau turned from hero to villan though as he failed to deal with a simple clearance from a corner playing the ball straight to Elliot Druce, who played the pass to Bobihno. The striker duly knocked th ball past the keeper for the equaliser.
More drama in the 27th minute as Esjas (some Dutch bloke the AI signed for Cove Bay on a free http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif) scored, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Then, disaster struck for City Merchants. A simple backpass came to Harrow but the goalie had a heavy first touch and the ball ran straight to Bobinho. He hit it first time into the empty net.
Just before half time, the temperature went right up as Haowan clattered into Healy and got his marching orders as he picked up his second yellow.
2nd Half: City Merchants came out needing to score but having to play 45 minutes with only 10 men. Cove Bay set about killing the game, trying to hold possession and not take risks. As a result despite being a man down, the Merchants had the better chances and positions. But they couldn't get back into it. Gonzaléz went closest as he broke through the defence to shoot into the side netting. He also forced the Cove Bay into a couple of decent saves. Ultimately, the sending off prevented City Merchants getting back into the game. And after it started so brightly too...
Final score: Cove Bay 2 City Merchants 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1Overview.jpg)
Cove Bay Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1CoveBayStats.jpg)
Merchants Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1MerchantsStats.jpg)
As you can see, Capital City Merchants made a good game of it and were unlucky to lose really with a red card and two errors leading to goals. Manager Ruud Krol had special praise for Bobinho after the game (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame1Bobinho.jpg) though.
SO another Cove Bay victory but it was definitely the closest match yet. I will do an update with league positions and player stats when the winter break comes around. Next rivals' clash will be the first game back at the end of January http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Can the Merchants finally get the win they've been looking for on their own turf?

Gingerbread seems to be playing mainly as a sub and he's grabbed a few goals http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif. Not as much international action as last time though http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon13.gif And he's out injured at the moment (broken toe - allegations of a NTI registered car running over his foot under investigation http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).
He's just signed new deal too and has been classed as an 'explosive striker'.
Winter Break Round-Up
In the First Division, both of our sides have picked up their form a bit and are forcing their way into contention for the play-offs.
League Table (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/WinterBreakTable.jpg)
Hopefully, both sides can keep themselves in contention.
The following players deserve a mention:
Roberto dos Santos (Merchants) has amassed the most appearances so far with 21 starts and one game as a sub.
Bobinho (Cove Bay) is the top scorer amongst our players with 12 goals. He also shares the most MoM awards with David Sunderland (Cove Bay).
Pablo Gonzaléz (Merchants) has the highest average rating (7.75) although that's come off just 4 games (scored 3 and got 2 MoMs in those matches).
Of the first team regulars Spud(Merchants) has the highest rating (7.21 from 14 matches).
Ryca Roseau (Merchants) has laid on the most goals with 9 assists.
Bob McBob (Merchants) is the highest valued player at 775k.
Maccaniniho (Cove Bay) has the dubious record of worst discipline so far with two re cards to his name.
Interesting that most of the best stats come from the City Merchants/ NTI but they are still losing out in head-to-head games.

2007 International Round-Up
STI came out on top in the two international clashes (see above).
Each team had one more friendly during the year. STI lost 2-0 at home to New Zealand and NTI lost 4-0 away to Kuwait.
STI's friendly wins have enabled the side to move up the rankings to 174th. NTI remain without a win though and are ranked 205th...

January Transfer Window Rumours
Parker Reynolds (Merchants) is attracting a lot of interest. PSV and Sunderland are believed to have made bids and Utrecht, Kaiserslauten and Bochum are interested also.
Dirtihno could possibly be loaned out to MVV.
Joe Richardson has been watched by scouts from PSV.
Could Diego Polo and Jackie Chan also be going out on loan (to German and Belgian clubs respectively)?

Capital City Merchants v. Cove Bay Pirates (Dutch 1st Division)
Date: 28.01.08
Venue: Capital City Stadium
Both teams returned from the winter break ready to pick up the rivalry where it left off. Accoridng to the media, the Merchants home advantage made them favourites. Roseau was identified as the key man and would surely be keen to put the last match between the two teams behind him. Cove Bay's one to watch was Bobihno, now being touted by the press as an 'explosive striker'.
Starting Line-Ups (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame2Line-Ups.jpg)
1st Half: With 56,000+ expectant fans in attendance, the match kicked off in an amazing atmosphere. The Merchants had all the early play, making several delightful moves and good chances.
Cove Bay's first chance came on the break as Bobihno chested down a shot and forced Jack Harrow into a diving save. The ball bounced back to Juan Carlos, who duly applied the finish for his first ever professional goal.
City Merchants continued to dominate however, and applied a lot of pressure. Their best chance came on the stroke of half time as General Specific played in Roseau. Unfortunately, the attacking midfielder poked the ball agonisingly wide.
2nd half: The Merchants emerged determined to pick up where they left off and they did. Roseau made amends for his miss before half-time by rising to nod home a Ben Cee corner. The stadium erupted as the scores were levelled at 1-1.
For the next 30 minutes, it was all about the Merchants as they poured forward. Roseau was on hand again with the best chance but he was called offside just before he could score. Cove Bay mustered just one chance as Bobihno hit the ball over the bar.
The match was to have a dramatic conclusion and it was a Northern Treasure Islander who won the match. Unfortunately for the Merchants, that man was turncoat Adam Flash, who collected the ball on the break, advanced towards the box and rounded the advancing keeper to net the winner in the dying seconds. 2-1 to Cove Bay!
Final score: City Merchants 1 Cove bay 2 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame2Overview.jpg)

Cove Bay Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueGame2CoveBayStats.jpg)
Another win for Cove Bay but they were very lucky as they only had two shots on target throughout the game. Surely, it's only a matter of time until the Merchants get their win.
Transfer Window Round-Up
It was the City Merchants who were active during the transfer window. First, Parker Reynolds left for Bochum for a free transfer (http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif). Joe Richardson also departed going to PSV, again for free (just lack last time, there's a distinct lack of business sense from the Merchants management). Two players also left on loan with Dirtihno heading to first division strugglers MVV and Pablo Gonzaléz making a temporary switch to VVV of the Premier Division.
World Cup Qualifiers coming up in February and March so I'll give updates later on.

League Standings (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/LeagueTableMarch2008.jpg)
As you can see, both sides are firmly in the hunt for promotion. Cove Bay Pirates have confirmed their play-off spot as they won the 5th period of the league with a great run of 5 wins and 1 draw in 6 games http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Only 4 games of the regular season to go but it looks like Merchants should qualify for the play-offs too through their league position.
Too bad,so close...

Too bad =(

May 2008 Update
The regular season ahs finished and both rivals have made the play-offs. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Dutch Division 1 Final Table (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/FinalTable.jpg)
It should be noted that Cove Bay Pirate's form was exceptional as they won their last 12 games http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif. City Merchants have to play in the first round of the play-offs as they didn't manage to win any of the periods in the league. Their opponents will be Stormvogelds Telstar, the 9th placed team. In two league meetings, the Merchants drew 2-2 at home and won 4-0 away so it's looking good for the next round. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs, Round 1
City Merchants FC
If I was confused about the Dutch play-off system before, I'm completely baffled now. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
The first game was hosted by Stormvogels Telstar and finished 2-2. Being used to the away goals rule in Europe, I thought this was a good result for Merchants. However, after the game a 'w' appeared next to Stormvogels' name. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Stormvogels Telstar 2 City Merchants FC 2 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game1Merchants.jpg)
Merchants Stats (Game 1) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game1Merchantsstats.jpg)
Onto the second match, which was played at Capital City Stadium. The boys from the North put in a good performance and pulled off a 3-2 win. I thought this would secure an aggregate win but, instead, a 'w' appeared next to Merchants FC and it was announced that a decider would be held 2 days later at Stormvogels' ground. Now, Merchants finished higher in the league, won the tie on aggregate without losing so I have no idea why a decider was necessary. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
City Merchants 3 Stormvogels Telstar 2 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game2Merchants.jpg)
Merchants Stats (Game 2) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game2Merchantsstats.jpg)
The final game was a tense one. Stormvogels took the lead, only for Roseau to equalise in the 2nd half. The game then went to extra time ( http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif again) but then the quality of City Merchants shone through as first Rebel Israel and then Roseau found the back of the net to send the Merchants through 2 games to 1 (or 2 wins to one draw).
Stormvogels Telstar 1 City Merchants FC 3 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game3Merchants.jpg)
Merchants Stats (Game 3) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201/Play-OffsRound1Game3Merchantsstats.jpg)
The Merchants have made it to the second round then but they haven't got much time to rest. They will play Willem II (from the relegation side of the play-off) in just 2 days' time (meaning their 3rd game in 5 days). Cove Bay Pirates, meanwhile, will face Go Ahead Eagles, who finished 4th in the regular season. Updates tomorrow http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Welcome back to the fold. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Yes, they are still interested. I will give all the transfer rumours and details in the end of season player updates tomorrow.
Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs, Round 2
At this stage, Cove Bay and the teams fighting against relegation from the Premier Division entered the fray to heat the competition up a bit. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Cove Bay Pirates
Go Ahead Eagles (love that name http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) provided the opposition for the Pirates. Having finished 1 place but 7 points clear of them in the league, confidence was high. Go Ahead had home advantage for the first game but failed to make it pay as Cove Bay gave an assured performance. Bobinho gave them the lead on the half hour and the Southern boys kept cool heads to hold the score without ever looking in danger.
Game 1 Final Score: Go Ahead Eagles 0 Cove Bay Pirates 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game1CoveBay.jpg)

The second game at World's End saw another efficient and clinical display from the Pirates. It was all effectively over after 18 minutes as first Adam Flash and then Gwilym J. James scored. Go Ahead never managed to, well, go ahead (http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif) mustering just one shot in the entire match.
Game 2 Final Score: Cove Bay Pirates 2 Go Ahead Eagles 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game2CoveBay.jpg) (Cove Bay win best of 3 series by 2 games to 0 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif)

Capital City Merchants FC
The Merchants task was slightly more daunting. They were to face Willem II who had finished 17th in the Premier Division. Would City Merchants be able to capitalize on their opponents poor form and low morale? Or would the gap between divisions prove too much?
The boys from the Northern Islands were lucky enough to be at home for the first game, meaning any decider would be held at Capital City Stadium also. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif However, this match came just 2 days after their first round decider and would be their 3rd match in 5 days. That seemed to show as Spud pulled up with an injury after half an hour. The Merchants played a good game though and more than matched their higher league opponents. Minutes into the second half, top scorer Arthur White was the hero once more as he gave his team the lead. Willem II were unable to get back into the match and the Merchants took the advantage.
Game 1 Final Score: City Merchants FC 1 Willem II 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game1Merchants.jpg)

The return match was quite an extraordinary game. Willem II took the lead on 29 mins only for Roberto dos Santos to equalize almost immediately. Bob McBob then put the Merchants ahead but Willem II were able to draw level just before half-time. Arthur White was on hand again to restore the lead early in the second half, only for Willem II to make it 3-3 nine minutes later. Parity only remained for 2 minutes as Roberto dos Santos scored his second and the Merchants' 4th. Willem II were to be awarded a penalty, however, which was duly converted to tie the score at 4-4. City Merchants hearts were broken though as their opponents scored a late winner to seal an extraordinary 5-4 win.
Game 2 Final Score: Willem II 5 City Merchants FC 4 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game2Merchants.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Which means, as in the first round, it would be necessary for the Merchants to win a decider in order to stay with their bitter rivals in the promotion hunt....... http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I wouldn't expect it too much this season. After the end of next season once their reps get higher, yes. Maybe half the squads will remain after then.

Thanks guys. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif That's exactly what I'm aiming for with this thread. A season or two of club rivalry followed by our players spreading across Europe to the top teams. When I was testing this version after the crash, most players are at top teams by 2010-2012.
I included the national sides to keep the rivalry going with the same players. I've scheduled one 'friendly' a year until 2020 for that reason. Hopefully by then both teams will be regulars at international tournaments.
I also took steps to ensure the clubs can survive without their young starlets. Both have been given a huge future income, loyal and ambitious chairmen and top notch facilites with great stadia and 100% hardcore fanbase. That should ensure the clubs being able to attract top talent to replace our boys and we should see some top notch regens coming through to keep the national teams going. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, Round 2 Decider
Capital City Merchants V. Willem II
Rivalries aside, this was possibly the biggest game of the Merchants short history. A do-or-die match to stay in the hunt for promotion and to keep up with their fierce rivals from the South. Willem II had plenty to play for as well as they battled to keep their Premier league status.
It didn't take the Northerners long to state their intent as Roseau beautifully teed up Arthur White to volley home after just 9 minutes of play. The Merchants kept the pressure on with several good attacking moves and they got their reward just before the half hour as Roseau again split the defence open with a killer ball which Roberto dos Santos fired home to double the lead.
After that, City Merchants tried to hold the ball and play out the remainder of te ame as Willem II desperately sought a way back into this vital match. Despite several good chances, they were unable to break down a solid Merchants defensive line and the match finished 2-0.
Decider Final Score: City Merchants FC 2 Willem II 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game3Merchants.jpg) (City Merchants win the best of 3 by 2 games to 1) http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Merchants Ratings & Stats (Decider) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound2Game3MerchantsStats.jpg)
Both of the rivals made it to the final round. There was much talk of these two clashing for a promotion spot but it seems the Dutch FA may have wished to avoid what would have been an almighty conflict as they were drawn in seperate matches:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
Promotion Relegation Play-Offs Third Round
Cove Bay Pirates v. Eindhoven
Capital City Merchants v. RKC
</pre>
The winners of these two matches will go to the Premier League, so there's still a chance for both to get promoted. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Merchants have the slightly tougher task as RKC were placed 2nd in the regular season whereas Eindhoven finished 7th and were beaten by Cove Bay twice.
Updates to come very shortly....

Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs, Round Three
Cove Bay Pirates v. Eindhoven
Game 1
Cove Bay hosted Eindhoven for the first game, determined to make short work of their opponents. It was a dream start as Captain Gingerbeard and Adam Flash struck to give the Pirates a two goal advantage after 28 minutes. Eindhoven were in danger of being overwhelmed but kept the game alive with a goal just before half-time. That didn't deter the Pirates and in swashbuckling fashion they hit two more in the 2nd half courtesy of Craig Healy and Bobihno. By the time Eindhoven got their second, the game was long over.

Game 2
Cove Bay came to Eindhoven looking to wrap up the series with a second win. Eindhoven were hoping to get back in the hunt. The home side made the advantage pay and scored wit just 8 minutes on the clock. Things went from bad to worse for Cove Bay when Eindhoven were awarded a penalty. Heinrich Kroeger managed to make the save but he couldn't do anything about the rebound and the Pirates went in at half-time 2-0 down. Still, Cove Bay had learned this season that there was always a way back and Captain Gingerbread found it with a goal on the hour mark. The Southerners' attacking momentum was sadly disrupted when the goalscorer had to go off with a leg injury - after the game, it was revealed to be a calf muscle tear which will keep Gingerbread out of the summer internationals. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Cove Bay continued to createchances and got the equaliser with 6 minutes to go as Bobihno found the back of the net. And that was how it finshed, 2-2.

Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, Round 3
Capital City Merchants FC v. RKC
Game 1
RKC had home advantage for the first game, meaning Merchants had to get the win to take the advantage. It was a dreadful start as RKC scored almost immediately. However, Arthur White was on hand to equalize on 8 minutes with the Northerners first chance of the game. There wasn't much time to savour the moment though as RKC restored their lead within 5 minutes. Into the second half, Merchants were still on the back foot until Roberto dos Santos brought the scores level again. RKC kept looking for the win and going forward (foolishly as a home draw seems to be a good result in this best of 3 system) but it was City Merchants who were to get the next goal on the break as Jackie Chan nodded in a corner. The Merchants were 3-2 up despite only having 3 shots on target! They then set about running down the clock and they very nearly did it. Rebel Israel became the villian as he conceded a penalty in injury time. RKC took the chance and secured the 3-3 result.
Game 1 Final Score: RKC 3 City Merchants FC 3 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound3Game1Merchants.jpg)

Game 2
This game at Capital City Stadium was one the Merchantmen could not afford to lose. A tense opening period saw City Merchants create no clear chances until Ryca Roseau roke through just after the half hour mark to bag the first goal. Rebel Israel was on hand to score with a header right before half-time and it was looking good for the Merchants. They had a scare in the second half as RKC pulled one back. The held their nerve, however and the result was put beyond doubt with 10 minutes left as Robert Boyle scored from the penalty spot. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif (this meant the MErchants had scored 6 goals from 6 shots on target in the two matches combined http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).
Game 2 Final Score: City Merchants FC 3 RKC 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound3Game2Merchants.jpg)

Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs, Round 3 (Deciders)
For both our rivals, Cove Bay and City Merchants, a long season comes down to one game. Win and they are in the top flight after just one season in existence. Lose and they will stay in Division 1 and face a struggle to keep hold of their wonderkids...
Cove Bay Pirates v. Eindhoven
The final game at World's End was all about control for Cove Bay. They set about keeping the ball and building up attacks without taking risks. The had a set-back when Juan Carlos was taken off early on with a knock. Inexpicably, manager Stanley Menzo sent Dion Esajas (a Dutch player signed on a free early in the season) in his place despite the wealth of young talent on the bench. Order was restored soon though as Esajas promptly got injured himself allowing Elliot Druce to join the fray. The breakthrough came shortly afterwards as Adam Flash intercepted a poor clearance and smashed the ball home. Try as they might, Eindhoven couldn't get back into the match and only managed one shot on target. The Pirates remained in control until the final whistle and the 59,000 fans in the stadium erupted as their promotion was confirmed!!!
Decider Final Score: Cove Bay Pirates 1 Eindhoven 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/Season%201%20Play-Offs/Play-OffsRound3Game3CoveBay.jpg) (cove bay win the series and earn the right to play in the Dutch Premier League next season http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif)

All eyes and ears at World's End then turned to Mandemakers Stadion to see if rivals City Merchants would match their acheivement or fall at the last hurdle....
RKC v. City Merchants FC
The situation for the Merchants was exactly the same as for their rivals - a win would see them into the top flight after just one season in the league; a defeat would consign them to another year in the small pond. The previous games had been tight and, playing away from home, the City Merchants knew caution would be necessary along with decisive finishing. Roberto dos Santos had recovered from his knock in the earlier game and so was able to line up along side Arthur White - together they had formed the most lethal striking partnership in the league during the season. And it was White who set the match alight with a well-taken goal on 16 mins after great set-up play by Haowan. City Merchants keeper Jack Harrow was in good form and needed to be as RKC tried to get back into the game. It was the Merchants, however, who would get on the scoresheet again as Haowan fed White once more to double their lead. The boys from Capital City then tried to control the game, knowing that they were very close to a great acheivement. They had a scare as RKC scored right at the end of 90 mins and then laid seige to the Merchants goal in an attempt to force extra time. But it was too little too late and the final whistle brought a defeaning roar from the away fans and sent all the financiers back in Capital City pouring onto the streets in jubilation!!!

Domestic Season Review
After a slow start (caused by me forgetting to set the detail level to full http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif) both rivals recovered well to get into the play-offs. Cove Bay in particular were inspired in the second half of the season, winning 12 games straight to dominate the last two periods. City Merchants made slightly harder work of it but still did well to come through a much tougher Play-Off campaign (they played 9 games compared to Cove bay's 5). As a result, both of our teams will take it up a notch next season as they compete in the Dutch premier Division with the likes of Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. A lot will depend on transfers over the summer (i.e. who is allowed to leave and what level of players will come into the squad) but the goal has to be to stay safe in the league... oh, and to beat each other of course http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I will post profile shots of everybody later so you can see their overall season performance. There is a busy summer in store for the national sides too with a 'friendly' match World Cup Qualifiers so I'll have updates for those games over the weekend as well http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

2007/8 End Of Season Round-Up: Cove Bay Pirates
Heinrich Kroeger (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/01-HeinrichKroeger.jpg) - his spot on the bench was not just warm but roasting hot by the end of the season as he struggled to break into the first team. Did well when called upon, however and managed to establish himself in the national side too.
Iker Reina (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/02-IkerReina.jpg) - firmly established as the Pirates No. 1 with a good record in goal. Strangely uncapped though http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Rich Denton (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/03-RichDenton.jpg) - A solid season for the right back at club level but also overlooked so far for the national side. He has attracted some interest and, indeed, PSV have made a bid. Sunderland are also rumoured to be ready with an offer.
Ramiro (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/04-Ramiro.jpg) - 2nd choice for club, 1st choice for country. Made a good contribution when in the side and currently considering a new contract offer.
Natanhiel Ball (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/05-NathanielBall.jpg) - Established himself at left-back for club and country. Also considering a new deal although he may be tempted by a move to Borrusia Dortmund, who have been showing an interest lately.
Rtik Carlos-Powell (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/06-RtikCarlos-Powell.jpg) - kept Kroeger company on the bench most of the season. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Not given a chance at international level yet either.
Eduaddo (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/07-Eduaddo.jpg) - managed to make fairly regular appearances though he was essentially 3rd choice in defence. Much more success at international level as he scored 2 goals. PSV have made an offer and he is keen to leave stating he has gone as far as he can with the Pirates...
Maccaniniho (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/08-Maccaniniho.jpg) - automatic 1st choice at centre back (when not suspended http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ). Impressive at the back but racked up 8 yellows and 2 reds giving him the worst disciplinary record on the team.
Wrighty (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/09-Wrighty.jpg) - the second half of a formidable central defensive partnership. Also looking over a new contract.
The Stig (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/10-TheStig.jpg) - spent much of the season in the reserves or U-19s. He is also currently wanted by none other than Capital City Merchants FC. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Could he turn Judas?
Adam Flash (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/11-AdamFlash.jpg) - the defensive midfielder from the North had a point to prove this season as he set about winning over sceptical fans. He managed to do so in almighty fashion with 5 assists and 4 goals - including the promotion winning goal and a last minute strike to sink the Merchants in the league, whcih firmly showed where his club loyalties lie. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Craig Healy (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/12-CraigHealy.jpg) - formed a great partnership with Flash to dominate the centre of the park in most matches. Another player who has a new deal on the table waiting to be signed.
Juan Carlos (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/13-JuanCarlos.jpg) - A regular for club and country. Provided great service for the strikers with a series of assists. PSV were interested but have yet to make a bid.
David Sunderland (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/14-DavidSunderland.jpg) - Also featured on a fairly regular basis and captained the side on several ocassions. Managed just 1 cap for STI but took the armband for that appearance too.
Gwilym J. James (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/15-GwilymJJames.jpg) - Had a great season on the left flank making many strong contributions to attack. Tagged by the media as an 'explosive winger'.
Adam Wilkinson (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/16-AdamWilkinson.jpg) - also had a solid season and featured regularly for STI.
Elliot Druce (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/17-ElliotDruce.jpg) - mainly used as back-up but is content with life at the club at the moment.
Adam Clatworthy (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/18-AdamClatworthy.jpg) - wallowed in the reserves for most of the season but is also still happy at the club, waiting patiently for his chance.
Brendanio (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/19-Brendanio.jpg) - Had a great season for his country but was unused by his club. Had injury trouble too and is currently out until the start of next season with knee ligament damage. Despite the injury, Bochum, Duisburg and Gent are all showing an interest.
Paul Hart (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/20-PaulHart.jpg) - limited oppurtunities for Cove Bay but lethal up front for the national side. Following a spat with the manager, he is currently transfer-listed and NEC Breda are preparing a bid. the striker wants to stay and fight for a place on the team however.
Jason de Mire (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/21-JasondeMire.jpg) - spent much of the season in the reserves but was picked for the last three games of the regular season and showed what he was capbale of by scoring a hat-trick on his debut and 4 in the following two matches. He was then again overlooked for all but one of the play-off games. After his mini goal-scoring run, the club promptly offered a new deal which is currently being considered.
Bobihno (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/22-Bobinho.jpg) - the young forward had a great season with 18 goals making him the club's top scorer. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Captain Gingerbread (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/23-CaptainGingerbread.jpg) - Played very well when fit but was hampered by injuries all season. Set to miss the summer World Cup Qualifiers for STI with a calf muscle tear picked up during the play-offs. Despite the injury, Stuttgart are said to be making an approach.

PSV have made an offer and he is keen to leave stating he has gone as far as he can with the Pirates...
Ooh, PSV, eh?
Would I still get updates on how he's doing if he transfers there?

Yes, you would http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Dpending on how many players leave this summer, I may start to give end of season updates by nationality instead of club (so apart from Adam Flash, it would be the same as now). Also, I will let people know if their player does anything of note at the new club.
2007/8 End Of Season Round-Up: Capital City Merchants FC
Jack Harrow (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/01-JackHarrow.jpg) - was 1st choice between the sticks for most of the season and is currently mulling over a new deal.
Gregory Le Quack (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/02-GregoryLeQuack.jpg) - after making a few starts early in the season, struggled to get a look in. Managed to get on SUnderland's radar though.
Ben Cee (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/03-BenCee.jpg) - made a few starts but was generally used in a supporting role. Has also attracted interest from Sunderland as well as Duisburg.
Alfonso da Silva Santos (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/04-AlfonsodaSilvaSantos.jpg) - a good season as the young defender established himself at right back. Widely expected to sign a new contract soon.
Cabinboy Pendros (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/05-CabinboyPendros.jpg) - made a slow start to the season but began to feature more towards the end. Also has been offered a new deal.
Ben Roscrow (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/06-BenRoscrow.jpg) - featured on a regular basis until h lost his place to Pendros. PSV have made a bid to secure his services for next season, Everton and Portsmouth are said to be monitoring the situation and the player himself says he is 'flattered' by the interest.
Jackie Chan (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/07-JackieChan.jpg) - only a handful of appearances this term for the centre-back.
Theo Henry Gooner (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/08-TheoHenryGooner.jpg) - also made only a few first team appearances.
Rebel Israel (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/09-RebelIsrael.jpg) - One of the main reasons why the previous players didn't get much first team action. Solid at the back and good going forward with 4 goals. Belgian side Mouscron are looking to secure his signature for next season.
Spud (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/10-Spud.jpg) - the other reason oppurtunities in central defence were rare. Formed a tight partnership with Israel and also scored 4 goals. Sunderland and Getafe are tracking his progress.
General Specific (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/11-GenralSpecific.jpg) - a slow start for the midfielder but he established himself in the second part of the season. Currently going over the fine details on a new contract.
Diego Polo (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/12-DiegoPolo.jpg) - a regular for the club but only 1 NTI cap. PSV have already made a bid and Genk are interested too. The player himself has said the transfer speculation is making him feel under pressure.
Trevor Tobago (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/13-TrevorTobago.jpg) - another player whose first team oppurtunities were limited. He is happy with life at the club however.
Haowan (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/14-Haowan.jpg) - appeared on a regular basis and was instrumental in the team's attacking play with 9 assists.
Bob McBob (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/15-BobMcBob.jpg) - had a great season aiding the teams cause with 5 goals and 9 assists.
Dirtihno (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/16-Dirtihno.jpg) - made 22 appearances in the league and scored 3 oals before his surprise loan move to strugglers MVV. Found it difficult at the wrong end of the league. Captain of the national team.
Ryca Roseau (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/17-RycaRoseau.jpg) - all in all a great season (despite the oodd clanger in the Cove Bay matches http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif). Scored 12 goals and managed an incredible 16 assists.
Robert Boyle (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/18-RobertBoyle.jpg) - highly frustrated for most of the season at only making sub appearances for the last 5 mins. managed to get 5 goals despite the limited playing time.
Roberto dos Santos (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/19-RobertodosSantos.jpg) - a great season for the striker as he bagged 24 goals. Despite impressive form for his club, he has yet to score for the national side.
Arthur White (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/20-ArthurWhite.jpg) - formed an impressive attacking trio with Roseau and dos Santos managing 23 goals and 8 assists. One of the front runners for the fan's player of the season http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Pablo Gonzaléz (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/21-PabloGonzalez.jpg) - struggled to break into the fşrst team with White and dos Santos in such great form. Managed 2 goals in 12 games before heading to VVV (three Vs) on loan. Unfortunately, playing time there was also limited to just three games, which produced 1 goal.
Parker Reynolds (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/22-ParkerReynolds.jpg) - the midfielder made just 1 start before an 18k transfer to Bochum, where he played 11 games as his new side finished 10th in Bundesliga.
Joe Richardson (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/23-JoeRichardson.jpg) - played 15 times for the Merchants before being picked up by PSV in January. Only played for the U-19s but is said to be happy at the club.
Missed a couple of things out http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
Cove Bay Pirates Fans' Player of the Year - Bobihno. With 18 goals, he won the fans' hearts.
Cove Bay Pirates Best XI (2007-8) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/STI%20-%20Cove%20Bay/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/BestXI2007-8.jpg). Just one bizarre note here: after winning the Player of The Year award, Bobihno was not slected in the starting XI of the team of the year. Instead, Captain Gingernread, whose season was dogged by injuries, and Jason de Mire, who only started 4 games, were included. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Capital City Merchants fans' Player of the Year - Ryca Roseau. A great combination of goals and assists resulted in the award for this attacking midfielder.
Capital City Merchants FC Best XI (2007-8) (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/NTI%20-Merchants/Profiles%20End%20of%20Season%201/BestXI2007-8.jpg)
Up next: No time for our boys to take a break after their slog through the play-offs. A mere 4 days after the deciding matches, there is a STI/NTI 'friendly' to be played. hot on the heels of that, the first phase/second round of North American World Cup Qualifiers will take place. If either team (or both teams) get through, the second round group phase will begin early in August. No rest for the wicked!!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Nice to see my player made the best 11 despite losing his place in the playoff games. Psv, Everton & Portsmouth showing interest too. I hope he stays loyal though with the Merchants and helps them dominate the league for the years to come!!...

Southern Treasure Islands v. Northern Treasure Islands, Friendly
Date: 01.06.08
Venue: Gambler's Retreat
Pre-match build up
No time to let up then as mere days after the remarkable play-off successes of the boys from both sides of the Islands, international fixtures came around. Both sides had big World Cup Qualifiers coming up but first the real business - a rivals clash http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
There was the usual controversy in the build-up to the game. Rich Denton received a 'hospitality package' at his hotel room with a messsage congratualting him on his pivotal role in Cove Bay's success. After sampling some of the fine chocolates, he cam down with ffod posoining and would miss the game. Juan Carlos also fell victim to pre-match antics as a group posing as Pirates supporters offered to buy him a drink. He later woke up in hospital with a concussion and also would be unable to play. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif The media spent much of their pre-match build up focusing on Maccaniniho and Parker Reynolds, whom they saw as the key men for STI and NTI respectively.
Starting line-ups (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/Freindly3Line-ups.jpg)
1st half
Onto the match then. Adam Flash again had a point to prove with many NTI fans bitter about his goal aginst the Merchants in the league. He needed to show them he was a Northern Islander through and through and he did so by smashing a fierce drive against the bar with just 45 seconds on the clock. STI kept their composure though and started to play the ball around the park. On 10 minutes Bobihno picked up the ball 30 yards out and threaded a lovely pass through the defence to de Mire for the striker to stroke home, 1-0.
The Southerners nearly extended their lead on 25 minutes as Healy crashed a shot against the bar. Jason de Mire was on hand for the rebound but was flagged offside. The second goal was delivered 10 minutes later as Bobihno hit a shot across the face of the goal. Jack Harrow did well to get down and parry the shot. Spud collected the ball for NTI but fluffed his clearance and Wilkinson took full advantage for STI, hitting the back of the net from the edge of the area, 2-0.
2nd Half
STI started as they had left off with Elliot Druce playing de Mire through. the striker's shot went mere inches wide. NTI had a good chance to get back into the match on 77 minutes as da Silva Santos made a great run down the right and hit a pinpoint cross to Robert Boyle, whose header clipped the outside of the post. The final piece of action came with the final play of the game. With both teams tiring and mindful of upcoming WCQ matches, it was the fresh legs of substitute Paul Hart that made the difference as he burst through the NTI defence and hit a shot past the advancing keeper, 3-0.
Final Score: Southern Treasure Islands 3 Northern Treasure Islands 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/Freindly3Overview.jpg)

Jacob's List (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/Freindly3FunnyNews.jpg) - little is known about the mysterious Jacob. Only a few brief glimpses of him have ever been seen. It is known that he has a list, however, and it seems after the last game his list is quite long. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
NOTE - I have a question for those who know more about the game than me. I run the Dutch competitions, North American World Cup Qualifiers and Gold Cup on full detail to ensure our teams don't take a hammering due to reputation but I can't set friendlies to full detail. Could this be having an effect on STIs consecutive wins? For this database, I made sure I set the country reps to the same level but I'm wondering if the AI is ignoring it and making calculations based on the nations I overwrote (Surinam for STI and Nertherlands Antilles for NTI). Also, if I watch the games (as I have been doing), does that mean they run on full detail? Or is it just that STI are better? http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The game mechanics should work on the stats provided HOWEVER, as I found out when playing about in the editor for an experiment of my own with Hong Kong, it doesn't work like that. The rep will build but slowly alongside the player reps, I found.
For instance, if I played as Hong Kong while they were in a similar situation to STI and NTI (similar built-up database to ensure good youngsters were coming through, good home teams with high resources etc) they were unbeatable - even won the World Cup in 2010. If I let it play by itself they'd struggle to get past the first round of Asian qualifiers.
Yet, as we saw in the last incarnation of the database when the 1-1 draw with Argentina occurred, it doesn't take long for the nations to play well. The fairest way, however, would probably be to play as both nations and ask your assistant to pick but the length of the game will be considerably longer.
The easiest thing to do is let the game take its course and it will even out (it should've already as evidenced by the clubs getting promoted to the Dutch Premier). Also, bear in mind both teams are young (I believe STI to be slightly older than NTI) and will make mistakes on an international level until they settle down in their 30s.
Hope that helps http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers for that mate. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif I figured the squads need time to grow. I got an International Appearance.....
For a couple of seconds but a cap's a cap.
North American World Cup Qualifiers, First Round, Second Phase
Southern Treasure Islands v. Costa Rica
This was probably the 3rd toughest draw available (after U.S.A. and Mexico) but it also gave the Southern Islanders a chance to show what they were made of. A place in the second round group stage was at stake as well as the chance to impress ahead of Gold Cup invitations being extended.
1st Leg
STI welcomed Costa Rica to World's End for the first leg. Bouyed by their successful season domestically as well as international wins over NTI, the boys from the South came out fired up and ready to provide a shock. That was exactly what happened as Elliot Druce supplied Jason de Mire to score after just three minutes. The Costa Ricans, expecting an easy game, were shellshocked and STI capitalised by extending their lead on 31 mins courtesy of a Bobihno strike. The second half produced more of the same and Wrighty added the third with 15 minutes left as he headed in a corner. STI were firmly in the pole position heading into the second leg. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Final score: Southern Treasure Islands 3 Costa Rica 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-STICostaRicaoverview.jpg)
STI Ratings & Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-STICostaRicaRatings.jpg)
2nd Leg
The following week, STI arrived in Saprissa looking to seal their place in the second phase. The only worry for them was the loss of keeper Heinrich Kroeger to a broken foot, whcih would see him out of action for 4 months. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Costa Rica, on the other hand, turned up determined to make up for the embarassment of the first match and remind these upstarts on the international scene of their place. The Costa Ricans took the lead after 26 minutes but their joy was short-lived as de Mire promptly equalised 5 mins later. That meant Costa Rica had to score 4 more to qualify. A penalty before half-time gave a glimmer of hope but a second half of constant pressure only resulted in one more goal in the dying minutes. The STI players were overjoyed as the final whistle confirmed that they were through to the group stage. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Final score: Costa Rica 3 Southern Treasure Islands 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-CostaRicaSTIOverview.jpg) (STI advance 4-3 on aggregate)

Northern Treasure Islands v. Mexico
The task facing the Northerners was much tougher as they faced the best team on the continent and favourites for qualification, Mexico. On the plus side, this meant expectations were low and NTI could just enjoy the experience.
1st Leg
A sell-out crowd turned up at Capital City Stadium looking forward to the game and habouring a small hope that their buys cold snatch an unlikely win. NTI set out to frustarte their opponents by sitting deep and suffocating the Mexican attacks. For the large part it worked but it also meant sacrificng their own chances to go forward. Attacking options became very limited for the home side when star striker Arthur White limped off at half time. The second half saw NTI successfully defend their goal but unable to even get a shot on target as it finshed 0-0.
Final Score: Northern Treasure Islands 0 Mexico 0 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-NTIMexicoOverview.jpg)
NTI Ratings & Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-NTIMexicoStats.jpg)
2nd Leg
Used to playing in front of 60,000 at Capital City Stadium, the Northern Islanders got a shock as they strolled onto the pitch to see 100,000 football mad Mexicans at the Azteca Stadium. Mexico were expected to win comfortably but would the pressure get to them? Or would NTI crumble in front of the hostile crowd? The Mexicans were on the offensive from the start and NTI were on the back foot.Wwith just sheer determination and a lot of luck they were able to keep the Mexicans at bay. That is until the 67th minute when Carlos Vela finally broke the deadlock. To their credit, NTI held their nerve and didn't crumble after the goal. Mexico were still coming forward, looking to kill off the tie and satisfy the crowd's need for style. That would cost them oh-so dearly as NTI made a qucik break. The ball was pumped to Bob McBob, whose clever flick on found Roberto dos Santos. The striker stunned the Azteca to silence as he rounded the keeper and hit the ball into an empty net. The following 10 minutes involved several increasingly desperate Mexican attacks but it was to no avail. The only sounds heard on the final whistle were the astonished screams of the NTI players - they had done the impossible and knocked Mexico out! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Final Score: Mexico 1 Northern Treasure Islands 1 (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-MexicoNTIOverview.jpg) (NTI advance on away goals)
NTI Ratings & Stats (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WCQ-MexicoNTIStats.jpg)
So there you have it: both national sides have upset the balance of power in North America and made it into the second round at the expense of two of the heavyweights on the continent. NTI's acheivement was remarkable, especially as they managed only one shot on target over the two legs!!!
Second Round Draw (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/DodgeeD/Matches/2008%20summer%20internationals/WorldCupQualifyingSecondRoundGroups.jpg)
STI have a decent chance to get through I think. NTI's group seems slightly tougher with no clear favourite or weak team. At least the last standing member of the big 3 on the continent, U.S.A., was avoided (though I suspect the groups were drawn beforehand with the expectation being U.S.A., Mexico and Costa Rica would be seperated). Hopefully, the Islanders can win through to the final group and go head-to-head for a place in the World Cup!
A great start to the campaign there http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif Got the goal to put us through - my first in the international arena! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Easy group for the boys from the south but I can't help wondering how some of the other teams managed to qualify for the second round and teams like Mexico and Costa Rica are knocked out after one loss. Is it just luck of the draw? Because apart from our 2 teams, Mexico is better than everyone else and Costa Rica is only behind behind USA so it hardly seems fair BUT it does mean that we are almost guaranteed qualification http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Also does anyone know how many teams qualify for the World Cup from North America?
Not usually much of a nationalist, but:
P12 W9 D1 L2
That's the United States record vs Mexico since 2000, I understand that the Mexicans are vastly overrated on FM, but just thought I'd point that out to the constant mention of the Americans as second best in CONCACAF. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In North America, the first two rounds are knockout home & away affairs with the weaker nations in from the start and the other nations (Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Canada etc) receiving byes to the second round. This is the round in which STI beat Costa Rica and NTI knocked out Mexico. (Obviously, in real life they would face some tiny Carribean island nation and win easily but we mixed it up a little http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
The group phase the Islanders have just entered sees the top two from each group qualify for a 'Super Group' of 6. The tope three from there go to the world cup and the 4th placed team plays-off, usually with an Asian or South American team. Hope that makes some sense http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif (personally, I like the South American way - one huge group, top teams go through. Might be difficult with 50+ nations though http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
I'll be posting a bit later with a round up of summer transfer activity (there's a lot of that http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif, more World Cup Qualifiers and the start of the league season. I though from now on, I will do monthly (or bi-monthly) updates looking at players (especially as more start to leave the clubs for pastures new), the clubs in the league (I hope you'll still be taking sides in the Cove Bay/Merchants rivalry even after your palyer has moved on), international fixtures/news and a 'Rivals Watch', where I look out for any NTI/STI players coming up on opposing teams in other countries. What do you think? If you'd like anything else included, suggest it!
Valencia - I'm running top two divisions in England, Italy, Spain and Germany as well as the top flight from France and Belgium (Ichose Belgium as in the previous version a few players headed there and I don't want them to slip into obscurity like you said). If your boy does head to Sunderland (or elsewhere http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), I'll report anything of note in the 'player news' section. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

If your boy does head to Sunderland (or elsewhere http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), I'll report anything of note in the 'player news' section. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

August 2008 Update: Players
Transfers
Might as well start here as there is a lot to go over. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
The Merchants lived up to their name as they were involved in a lot of trading. 14.5mil was spent on 16 new players and 14 of the original squad was sold for a total of 13mil. I'm not quite sure what came over the management at the club but last year's great partnerships were dissolved as Rebel Israel was sold to Belgian side Genk, Spud made a big move to English giants Liverpool and the attacking trio all went too - Arthur White to PSV, Roberto dos Santos to AA Gent and Ryca Roseau to Hetha Berlin. Gregory Le Quack declared himself done wth benchwarming and headed to Sunderland. I'm not quite sure what he was thinking though as he's bound to play second fiddle to Craig Gordon. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Here are the players out in full:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
Player Sold To Fee
Diego Polo Genk 110k
Cabinboy Pendros Hertha Berlin 210k
Gregory Le Quack Sunderland Free
Rebel Israel Club Brugge 425k

Trevor Tobago PSV Free
Ben Cee Mouscron 250k

Arthur White PSV 1.9M

Haowan NEC 1.6M
Ryca Roseau Hertha Berlin 2.4M

Of the players coming in, most don't seem to add much to the squad. Ugur Yildirim looks a decent prospect and Alexandr Glatan, a Moldovan, looks good. The only logic I can see behind the transfers is the addition of experience but a lot of these players will start to decline in a couple of years, by which time the players who were sold will be superstars... The main transfer of note though is one which will hopefully bear fruit in a season or two - young Colombian striker Cristian Nazarith was snapped up for 80k. Who knows? - maybe he can get NTI nationality before long. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
At Cove Bay, the number of changes was fewer but it again seems that the players coming in don't really add any depth or strength to the squad. 9 players left for a total of 5.5mil and 9 came in with 10.5mil spent. Some of last year's stars were allowed to leave such as Maccaniniho (to Feyenoord for 1.5mil) and Nathaniel Ball (off to Dortmund for 1.5mil). It seems the Cove Bay management, new to the world of European football, were taken advantage of by more ruthless clubs as they accepted a couple of exchange deals (basically selling their best players for a small amount of cash and a donkey!)
Those Cove Bay departed in full:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
Player Sold To Fee
Nathaniel Ball Borussia Dortmund 1.5M
Paul Hart NEC P/Ex (Theo Dams)
Maccaniniho Feyenoord 1.3M
Rtik Carlos-Powell Standard Liege 250k
Adam Clatworthy PSV Free
Brendanio PSV Free
Captain Gingerbread NEC P/Ex (Jhon van Buerking)
Elliot Druce Bochum 1.4M

One major transfer item I deliberatly left to last - The Stig, frustrated by limited oppurtunities at World's End jumped ship and joined rivals Merchants FC for 1.1mil!!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif It will be very interesting to see what recepiton he gets on his return to play against Cove Bay...
I'm a bit dissappointed that the teams (especially Merchants) let so many stars go. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif They just seemed to accept any bids that came in. PSV in particular managed to get several players on free transfers - it happened so often I was beginning to think it must be a bug! Still, it will be interesting to see how they fare. Many players have gone to Belgium or Germany and I'll be keeping a close eye on the two in England to see how they get on. As for the clubs, have the Merchants ruined their chances of survival? Or have they been wise by bringing in more experience as they tackle the Premier League? Will Cove Bay's new players make a difference? Or will last season's heroes not be up to the job this time? We have a season to find out.... http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
P.S. I was just teasing Valencia - Rich Denton refused a contract from Sunderland and PSV and will line up for Cove Bay again. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Whoops! Hit 'Post Now' too early. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Before I get on to the clubs, I have to post the transfer summaries and finish the player news...

Injuries
The following players are currently out (end of August 2008):
Heinrich Kroeger - still a couple of months away from a full recovery after breraking his foot in June.
Jason de Mire - out for two more weeks due to an achilles injury picked up over the summer.
Captain Gingerbread - the same torn calf muscle that kept him out of the final games of last season means his debut for NEC is still 2 or 3 weeks away.
Roberto dos Santos - our for a week with a facial injury picked up on international duty recently.
Ryca Roseau - twisted his knee shortly after arriving at Hertha Berlin. Out for a week.
i moved to Bochum...are they in switzerland
August 2008 Update: Clubs
Cove Bay Pirates
The boys from Cove Bay have found life in the top division tough so far with just a single point gained in the first 4 games. Heavy defeats of 3-0 and 3-1 were suffered at the hands of Ajax and Fc Groningen respectively.
***Breaking News*** - despite having just signed a new deal, Rich Denton signed for NEC at midnight on transfer deadline day!
Capital City Merchants FC
So far, the Merchants busy summer of transfers seems to be producing better results as they have earned 4 points in 4 games including an encouraging win over FC Groningen. They were also unlucky to lose out to Ajax and FC Twente by a single goal each time.

Rivals Watch
As of yet, no match ups with NTI/STI players on opposing sides. (Some of the players are still waiting for their debuts). However, many football followers will be curious to see how Haowan copes with having three STI teamates (Hart, Gingerbread and Denton) and how STI player Elliot Druce gets along with NTI international Parker reynolds at Bochum. There are also now 3 NTI players and 2 STI players at PSV, although most are subs, reserves or U-19s at the moment.

Le Quack went to Sunderland for free http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
The Merchants did manage to get some decent replacements. Yildirim, Gatkan, Kovba, Kornilenko and Nazarith are not bad http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif and The Stig realised that the Merchants are far cooler http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
13th in the league http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif
Didn't want to move away tbh, and only to AA Gent as well http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Still, mon thew Merchants without me!
Off to Club Brugge, eh? Well, up the Merchants regardless.
