lawstraljan11
Last year when playing Chelsea in a cup game with my newly promoted L1 team York City, I noticed they played a super-strong full team. Why is it that bigger teams dont try and get the youngsters/2nd/3rd string players a go? EG: Man United IRL play youngster & fringe players. Anyone know if this has changed in FM12? ManUTactician247
I'm playing FM11 and have been tracking United's progress. I find that even when facing a Premier League team they play quite a few of their youngsters with 3 or 4 experienced lads to back them up, like IRL. lawstraljan11
Dunno, teams 2-3 divisions above me always play their strongest squad. :/
dirtyscarab
I only manage lower league and have done so for nigh on 8 years and I would say 80% of the time big clubs field a sort combination of 1st teamers and youngsters in the early rounds. Gepetto
There is, I believe a hidden managerial trait of 'uses young players in lower priority games'. Some managers have it, some don't.

Totally agree, I always start in the BSN/S and have found that in cup games it varies completely, I have played higher league teams that have played full strength teams against me and absolutely hammered me and others who have played kids and ive got a result, but as the tournament progressess, the teams fielded get stronger and stronger just like irl.
