Time wasting with quick tempo and direct passing?

We all know the ideal way to kill time is to slow down the tempo, set time wasting to max and shorten the passing length but what happens if I keep tempo to quick, passing to direct but time wasting to max? Will the players still hold the ball? Will they hoof it clear every time?

I imagine they would just take their time with throw-ins, goal kicks, free kicks and corner kicks.

Yes that's the point. How will the players react to these contradicting instructions?

I don't know, I can't imagine it will be good. If I was a player I'd think my manager didn't really know what he was talking about and that always ends in tears.

Think of it like a football match, if you want to time waste then you want to slow everything down. Hold it in the corner for 4-5 seconds, pass it slowly across the back four rather than just hoofing it back at the opposition as quick as they can only to face another wave of attack.
