Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any kind souls could recommended me a laptop around the $500 that can Play FM 2012 well,

The only other things I'll be using it for is browsing, downloading, email ect you know just general stuff,

I'm relativity tech savvy but when it come to Graphics cards & some other specs i don't really know what to make of them so any help would be hugely appreciated...

Apologies if this hasn't been posted int he correct section.

$500 - in the USA I guess? Or Australian Dollars?

Anyway - best for USA Dollars would be an i3 processor with 4gb RAM. Probably won't get a standalone graphics card for that, which I think you should have.

For an extra $100 you could probably get some bells and whistles to make it run smoother.

Where do you normally buy computers from? Any links to online stores that you use?

Try one of these. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54291

Not 17inch though.

Don't mind the look of that, would you say it'd be worth getting http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/laptops/toshiba-satellite-c665-008-15-notebook-srp-949-factory-scoop/656621 for the extra $150? I'm struggling to see to many differences/advantages of the more expensive one.

Has a better CPU and slightly better video card.

I think the CPU will help in FM but not sure the video card will make much of a difference since FM isn't a very graphically taxing game. The demo runs fine on my G570 but that's not very representative of running 10+ leagues in full detail.

For your other uses, the i3 CPU is fine.

Cheers again for the reply mate, if, when you've got a few spare minutes, you or someone could help me out one more time that would be super,

Hers the ones I'm looking at: i know a guy who works at JB & can get me most of them 50-80 cheaper most likely going to get it from there

If you could tell me what is the best over all, best value for money, the difference between AMD Duel Core & i-3 i-5 i-7 when it comes to FM That would just be fantastic!!

There is also this one but not sure if my Budget would stretch http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55023

This is the spec for my All-In-One, if i could something for similar performance that would be perfect

There's no real reason to get an AMD CPU in a laptop atm, unless you are looking at a netbook (which you aren't).

Of the Intel CPUs, all will perform better than your all-in-one. The best value would probably be the 4024TX but any of the Intels will probably play FM2012 very well (certainly better than your current PC).

yep.. any of the 'i' processors will perform better than your current all in one..

if you can stretch to an i5 .. do so.. the ones out now are generally 2nd gen chips and a leap forward from the i3's ...

out of those.. i would be tempted to get the 3rd one down in the list... for the price its a steal tbh... an i7 is leaps and bounds better than an i5 and that card is decent aswell..

that lappy would see you right for even high end games tbh and would see you being able to breeze through most leagues in fm :)

im also looking to get a new laptop at the moment.i only use it for playing fm and browsing the internet so dont wana spend crazy money but at the same time i want the game to run fairly fast and have no problems with 3d mode. im absolutly useless with tech specs and all aspects of computer jargon. what are the main things i should be looking for or if anyone could point me in the direction of a couple of good laptops at a decent price it would be appreciated!
