FlyMyPrettiesFly
Let's 'fess up, have you ever managed your clubs biggest rivals in FM? Seriously, I would feel a bit funny managing Aston Villa as a Bluenose, but would happily manage West Brom, Wolves, Walsall or Coventry.
Coentrao
Does it count if you just add a manager, release/sell all their players and resign on the next day? Because if so, then yes.
FlyMyPrettiesFly
Does it count if you just add a manager, release/sell all their players and resign on the next day?Because if so, then yes. LOL! I suppose so, yes.
Aoede
Does it count if you just add a manager, release/sell all their players and resign on the next day?Because if so, then yes. Hehe, I used to do this when I was a kid Which is pretty much the closest thing I ever got to managing any of my clubs biggest rivals.
IMT
Absolutely not, the thought of managing 1p5wich Town repulses me
The Welsh Lad
I'm the same managing a rival is a massive NO what makes the hole thing worse is that in real-life the manager of my team did just that, but he did do one thing good which help his moving to us was taking the scum down. Kaiser_Tottenham
Arsenal Who ?
2Pacalypse
Porto? It's impossible to manage so many referees anyway.
Sikker
I once managed the corrupted AC Milan because they at that time had 3 Danish players. As I remember I didn't made it through preseason before I ended that game and started a new Juventus save.
Smurf
Managed both Man U and Liverpool. But never saw a need to manage Milwall, wouldn't interest me.
Slawbawn
Nope. I've never managed Oxford, and I've never sold a player to them, or a sign a player from them. It'd be blasphomy.
blackdevil
Yep...I'm a Man Utd fan and I've regularly managed Liverpool. I've found it entertaining that they've mis-used so many good players and not won the league for a while. Plus there's the fallen giant scenario and I want to replicate Fergie's success and topple the dominant force of english football of their perch. However I've not managed Man City or in Italy never managed Inter (sort of follow Milan). I have managed Betis and Sevilla in the same save once some years ago, made betis the top team in spain then resigned and took over at Sevilla
stevie_G_32201
Does it count if you just add a manager, release/sell all their players and resign on the next day?Because if so, then yes. Dont forget you max out their budget buying crap players from your club on excessive wages.
Viggo Vickers
I managed Seattle once, but only because Timbers weren't in the MLS at the time, and it's the closest team to my location... ...plus they have a certain Colombian striker. :o
VonBlade
There is absolutely no way I could manage the G.. the Gu.. I can't even bring myself to type it. COYS!
Blackwolves
I managed man city!!
thehutchenator
No but because of my bullish media style and good results I now have extra rivals
rancer890
I wouldn't even think of managing the Columbus Crew. Trillium Cup staying in Toronto. Although I will consider managing in Vancouver in FM12 and Montreal in FM13.
grep
I am under the real impression that matches against rivals are driven by a crazy routine, it almost always happen the craziest stuff of the entire season.
BML
There is absolutely no way I could manage the G.. the Gu.. I can't even bring myself to type it.COYS! This. I was recently offered this job as Alan Shearer had quit for the England job. Whatever iota of interest I may have had in the job soon disappeared once I saw they had recently moved to the 80000+ seater 'Clichy Stadium'. No thank you. aderow
I've never done this. Seen no interest in it ever. I did think about wrecking city and liverpool though
B.W.G
There is no way on this planet that I would ever consider managing Man Utd
DanP123
I'd rather break my FM disc into two pieces than manage Man City.
dudester
In my long long career game, I started at thurrock got the boot, got a chance at alfreton town things took off took them all way to premier league, eventually Arsenal offered me a job I took it. Had lot of success with Arsenal then my team Liverpool were struggling in debt and sacked the manager so I resigned and applied thinking I had a chance of getting it they snubbed me! Then got offered the vacant Man utd Job I took it. I applied again next time Liverpool were managerless even tho I knew board wouldn't be happy and still got didn't get it. Lem
Does it count if you just add a manager, release/sell all their players and resign on the next day?Because if so, then yes. This. Although technically they were only our title rivals, not local derby rivals. I stayed with them for a while to sell a few players off, check their youth out etc and they still kept winning! So I kept playing, testing to so how far the game blatantly favoured United. Eventually got sacked and they still survived! WTF! Other than that, only when I might have ingested poison and urgently require throwing up. Though I suppose if anyone's bullemic....
lacoste8030
I have managed Arsenal, I know they ain't major arch rivals with my beloved Chelsea but I did a save where i started at Napoli and went on to win Serie A Italian cup and champs league then moved to Madrid and won everything there for 2 seasons and wanted a new challenge and getting Arsenal to actually win something i thought was a great challenge. I succeeded within one season winning the Premiership, Fa Cup and Europa League in my first season and then Chelsea sacked there manager and I went home. Gourcuff20
Yes, I've managed Inter (although two years ago I said I will never do it) after managing Roma. I am a huge AC Milan fan, but the opportunity didn't come and I took the challenge in the other side of Milano :-)
withnail316
Back in CM 01/02 I relegated Man United and sent Rangers into about £300m worth of debt buying awful players. I happily then quit and went on an enjoyable save at Rushden. Happy days.
Keyzer Soze
Porto? It's impossible to manage so many referees anyway. I'm with you my Brother! And tomorrow... we will win at Dragão!
S2008
Manage Rangers????? Im breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about it- and thats just having that image of moaning face Naismith flash into my mind every time he would score. MillerrNufc
Never in any game have I or will ever manage/play as 5under1and!
americanista
i would never ever ever ever...... be the manager of chivas del guadalajara (america de mexico eternal rival).
johnnycnandy
I'm a Man United fan, and I've managed City. I'd never manage Liverpool or Leeds though. I'd feel dirty if I won a league with them. Sad really, but it would actually bother me.
Crazy Billy-Jay Jones
Never, not even to try and ruin them (As tempting as it is). I can't even manage the club I support on FM haha.
Deisler26
Manage the Spuds? Never. Ever. I'd rather come on the boards and say I use FMRTE every day
Wyer
I would never manage Birmingham City, ever. I even resigned in my 2nd season as Villa when I got beat 1-2 at Villa park despite hammering them and having 2 goals disallowed. I never sign a player from them or has ever played for them. Krald
I see no interest in managing Sunderland, too high a team anyway, would rather manage a lower league club and work it up.
Swills417
I've managed Tottenham for a while before, but didn't get very far. I'd only manage a rival if they we're in a teams shadow e.g Man City and Utd. I'd try and turn the balance of power in the smaller clubs favour!
jasonboyacmilan
Nah, only once started a game with Inter in FM10 just to ruin them by selling their top players for very small fees, buying crap players and playing very stupid formations. IIRC I lasted longer than Gasperini though, about 6-7 games.
9sublime
As a Wycombe fan, I'd happily manage Oxford as its where I'm from and the rivalry isn't very strong. I don't think I could bring myself to manage Colchester or MK Dons though.
