Do coaches improve their stats?

I found this fantastic thread here (http://www.fmscout.com/i-1176-5-stars-training-in-Football-Manager-2011.html) and as I can't find too many good coaches for five stars training, I am wondering if they are improving as well, like the players do.

If I pick the best coach I can (who, for example, delivers only 4 stars training), will he be able at some point in time to deliver for 4.5 or more, according to the calculations in the above-mentioned thread?

Coaches can improve becuase they have CA and PA Rating unfourtunatly there is no logical way of finding out becuase you can't scout coaches

Yeah, there just the same as players, my Andriy Shevchenko started out really **** but ended up taking over me as manager. So yeah, while their in work they'll develop.

But remember when player turn into coaches they don't have the same CA/PA they are given a new set, so crap players could become world class coaches and world class players may become crap coaches.

It is good they improve, but this is really difficult to scout (actually impossible) without cheating, probably. You can just rely on luck then.

You have to also check the coaches determination, motivating and 1 other (discipline maybe?) to get a good coaching rating. In fact these mental attributes are just as important. Look for coaches with 17-18 (or better) and at least 7-8 in the mental attributes.

Well if you would have followed the topic and the link that I posted here, you would've known I already know what to look for in a coach.

The question was not about coaching, but about coaches potential and improvement.

I have never seen the attributes increase (doesn't mean it doesn't happen) but I have definitely seen a coaches reputation increase. The most astounding example is Travis Dodd from Adelaide United. He was my favourite real life player and captain of the team so I played him until retirement and then offered him a job as coach even though he has terrible attributes. His attributes have not changed but his reputation is World Class so go figure. This is also FM 2009 as I play each save for a couple years at least.

As far as not being able to afford great coaches... I'm not sure I agree with this as I have SIX 5 star coaches on 375/week.

Each team and coach is different. When I first started my save with Villa, coaches at high rep club wouldn't come to me until the 2nd season. Without knowing who is team is, you can't just disagree with the fact that it happens differently in other saves. Someone could tell you they bought Messi for £7M doesn't mean it happens like that in every game.

OK, so do a search for any type of coach with at least 17 for desired coaching attribute (ie defending coach both defending and tactics) and at least 8 for mental attributes. If there is not at least one uncontracted coach then lower the mental attributes to 7 and try again. I have never been able to poach good coaches because I can't afford the wages but there always seems to be some good uncontracted ones around. BTW I invest a fair amount of time in scouting knowledge. I have the crappy scouts go to a new country every assignment and have some outstanding scouts who I specialise in their preferred countries but send them to other countries every now and then. Does scouting knowledge have an effect on coaches visible maybe?

I don't know to be honest, I know most of it comes down to database size and leagues loaded, but has for scouting knowledge playing a part I'm not sure.

Just checked my coaches and one of them has definitely deteriorated in fitness coaching and possibly improved in other attributes.

A lot of my players who have turned into coaches tend to have the same coaching PA as they did as players. So if they were good players and their coaching stats are already half decent when they retire, good chance they will improve. Keep an eye out for high Determination and personality traits of Ambition.

When player retires to become coaches they are given random PA ratings doesn't mean they can't have the same. I think it is in the link for the thread where a player had 20 determination and when he became a coach it dropped to 17. If a player turns into a player coach then it will show that he has the same PA but when retired it can drop or it can increase or it can stay the same. This has been comfirmed by a member of SI
