End of conditional work permit.

I'm in January and my 19 year old Argentinean is not being allowed to renew his contract which has 6 months remaining. How does this play out when it reaches its end? He's shipped out of the country? Something goes to appeal? Or should I cut my losses and sell him now? He's playing well, and playing regularly so erm, how should this be played out?

I have had this issue 2-3 times, each time with Argentinian players. As I couldn't re-sign them I ended up selling for whatever I could get. One turned out world class at his new club!

i haven't had an issue with work permits not being renewed for years. last time i had that was something like cm4.

as to what happens, they stay at your club but you can't play them.

I think he'll move on if I can't play him. He'll be out of contract so can leave. But, I like him, I'll play this out and if I'm down his market value then so be it.

Have you tried getting an overseas feeder club you could ship him out to? Either somewhere like Belgium where he can get 2nd nationality, or elsewhere so he can get time and some international caps.

Yes, they can. But it won't help you if he's only got six months left as a second nationality will take a few years to obtain.
