Can we expect features from other major manager game implemented into FM?

do you mean you being able to hold different roles at clubs, or the introduction of AI controlled role?

both obviously, I wish I could be director of football in FM, because that's how I really play, I want to help manager build a team, and just watch him win all the moniez and rangz. I think some dev posted that director of football was supposed to be in FM11...

I think to be honest the title of the game should answer that question, SI may introduce directors of football into your board but i cannot see them adding it as a playable option.

Im sure they will add and expand features as time goes on, but i dont think they will take features directly from other management sims.

title is Football Manager, which means a manager of football, and director of football definitely manages football too. People keep saying "oh youre supposed to be a manager jadajada". No you don't. Sven was Director Of Football at Notts Co and there are numerous of other examples, it just makes the game more detailed in terms of footballing, not sims.

EDIT: and we have too much control as a manager either way.

I would not wish to waste £30 to become a Director of Football. Absolutely pointless.

...that would be an additional feature. The other game also has much much better financial system, SI should definitely improve that area as well

yes but its called football MANAGER, not football director or football chairman, its to simulate a specific position within a football club, which roles famous managers have taken on at various clubs is irrelevant to this game.

You are suppose to be a manager, i dont get that point really.

I dont see how taking away certain jobs makes the game more detailed, what would be gained by not controlling tactics, team talks, player chats, press conferences, training?

since when adding a feature makes a game less detailed?

I hate the other manager, but it has some amazing things which combined with FM would become the best game ever.

Since adding said feature would make the gaming experience less detailed.

What would be gained by your suggestion? What could you do with that suggestion that you cannot already do?

there are lots of things director of football do that aren't in the game yet.

Its not going to make the gaming experience less detailed. ITS AN ADDED OPTION. Either start the game as a manager, where the game is full how you'd expect. Or you can start as a DOF which would have less 'features'. Basically a dumbed down manager but with extra DOF specific features added.

Its basically the same idea as being to turn off certain 'features' in preferences, thus dumbing the game down. Good idea for people that want it IMO.

exactly, why is it so hard to understand that. It's not like being a chairman or something.

I wouldn't really mind if this sort of stuff was in the game, but, well, my problem with this ever-so-popular "it will be optional so why would you mind" argument is that SI realistically have a certain development budget (in terms of dev hours), and the design of any new feature or polishing of existing features need to fit into that. Precious dev time spent on stuff that doesn't seem to add much (from my perspective) is simply a waste when it could be spent on features that I actually do care about. So, no to director of football from me, I'm afraid. :/

If they spent more time on the features in the first place and out more thought into them, they wouldnt have half finished 'features' that people are unhappy with that people want to turn off. Like you say, they only have so many hours so why not spend 2 years per new feature and make sure its well thought out and cover all bases before adding it to the game. At the moment they add new features year on year which are half finished because they have tried to cram it all in in X months, aswell as having last years half finished features to work on any many previous years features aswell that still arent finished or upto scratch.

Back to milner's question I think: Like?

Aside from transfers/contracts what else would you want to do as DoF?

Rather than expanding the game all you would be doing is limiting it.

team affairs, stadium and training affairs, travel, fixture selection, also finances and marketing, that would be more of a GM job, but why not?

Team affairs you already control, same with training affairs -so I see no differnence there.

Fixture selection is not controlled by a director of football, neither is finance. Not sure who controls stadium and marketing, but I'd be 99% sure that neither of them are controlled by the director of football.

This new game isn't very realistic is it?

Marketing and finances, don't you really understand that this can be expanded dramaticly? As a GM or DoF you can organize merchandise, loans, sponsors, I can't remember all but those were all in the other manager and they were a really, really nice touch, especially if you want to play as DoF or GM or something like that.

wiki says in most extreme cases, the director of football controls all those things. What we have ingame right now, is extreme case manager.

You're just making this up as you go along.

Directors of Football do none of these things.

If they were to be added to the game, they would come under the managers control - purely for entertainment purposes.

Either way, the exact nature of the role is often unclear and extremely variable and causes much debate in the sports media. So we don't really know what actually he does and he does not, but everything I said could be controlled ingame.

So you wouldnt be a director of football then, just a club general manager?

Anyway like i say this would not be an added option, it would be a completely new game.

new game? it's just an expansion, merchandise is there, finances, sponsorships etc are there, but they aren't expanded.

yes they are there as very basic additions to a fiance formula, what your suggestion would require SI forgetting about the football side of things to re-write the game to incorporate all of these expanded features. Nothing of what your suggesting really has anything to do with the football side of things, the actual important bits of FOOTBALL manager.

believe it or not, but it does :O since when finances aren't important things of football? These days, money is a huge part of football, especially when there really aren't that many features that aren't ingame that specialises on actual football.

I want to watch my team score goals, develop talent, and win trophies - not balance the books.

Exactly. I can be a manager. A Football Manager™.

I don't even know what game you want to play, but this isn't it.

once again, do you understand the title? It's not A(!) Football Manager. It's Football Manager. It's different.

Link to post

I dont think you understand the game title at all this is FOOTBALL MANAGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are A football manager, its simple really.

I give up, your suggestion is both unworkable with the current game and extremely boring sounding.

one who manages football, manages finances and all that stuff. it's like you all are saying that those features should never be introduced that they have NOTHING to do with football at all and they should be killed with fire. No they shouldn't. Many of you don't have a clue.

By the way, you lost it.

Face it, your ideas are dreadful but I'll take into full account the fact that you are only seventeen.

only 17, but you are still more clueless than I am. It's like saying football is all about actual match. If you play FIFA, yes it is, but it's Football Manager, and I wanna manage all aspects of football. I am not saying that "PLEASE FM12 HAVE EVERYTHING I SAID OTHERWISE IT WILL SUCK BLA BLA" I'm just saying that it should be added, while some you are saying that NO PLEASE NO GOD DAMNIT which is dumb.

ah 17 that explains both the stupid ideas and the inability to use the English language properly.

it is because I'm not English. yet you provide no arguments why finances and stuff like that isn't part of football.

thats a superb argument, can I hear more? Money isn't part of football? That's interesting theory.

Why thank you :)

The only aspect of "money" the manager deals with, is when he declares that he would like some funds to purchase a player. Same goes for this marvellous Director of Football which you've got such a hard-on about.

what about contracts? do reallife managers also negotiate? guess what, they usually don't, so according to you, we should throw that out.
