Changing contract offer?

Is there anyway to do this?

I've offered a contract to a player, but it's lower than what he was demanding but he finally accepted it. (there was nobody else interested in him at the time)

Now 3 other teams have come in for him, 2 of them big reputation clubs. I know he's not going to join me, I want to offer him more but I can't find the option.

I've learned that withdrawing the contract offer and trying to offer another contract does not work. He will be unwilling to talk if I do that, claiming a break down in the previous talks.

I'm sure, if I remember correct, that on previous FM's you could change the contract offer at anytime?

Not sure the option is there anymore, I have never found it. Seems silly to take away the option if that is the case.

I think sometimes you get a choice where you go to offer a contract before hand. I know you can change the offer on a loan deal. I don't think you can though if you've already offered a contract . You just have to hope he joins you.

He's already offered the deal. Was looking to get the player. Then two other clubs who are better than him have made offers. So he wanted to know if he could change his original offer .
