injuries-r-us

hi, i am a new FM2011 player, and i just started a game with Real Madrid. We are on the third game of the league and Ronaldo, Ramos, Khedira, Albiol, Marcelo, Higuain and Canales are already injured, all of them from opponent challenges, and what is worse, only one of those challenges was awarded a yellow card. most of them werent even get concieved as faults by the ref.

my question is if this is normal on FM2011 or if i am just having a bad luck streak. pre-season was fine and the whole team was match ready.

ps: wow, i think it's gone over the bar. i wrote the post while playing the third game, and khedira was injured on the minute 16th. now, at the 65th, ozil has been knock out and again, not even fault. its 8 players injured on 3 games. this cant be serious.

its normal , the larger your squad the more injuries the game gives you . Its better to have the bare minimum of players and you will find you will hardly get an injury all season . if you have more than about 18 players in yoru first team it constantly makes players be injured . i tried it with leeds in div 1. i cut my squad down to 18 at the start of the season and never had more than one player out injured at a time all through the season . following season i bought 6 more and constantly had 5 on the injury list

Squad of 29 players here in League 2, worst injury crisis was this season was when I had 5 players out at the same time, mostly for between 1 and 3 weeks. Most of the season I've only had a couple of players out at any time.

That's terrible advice! Way to screw with him!

The game doesn't choose injuries based on your squad size, I have over 35 players in my squad and I usually only have 2-5 out injured. 5 if I'm unlucky at the time.

Just my reply from whats happened to me playing the game . Every time i have had a squad of over 18 players i have had a string of injuries until i have the bare minimum left each week to choose from .

So far played 12 seasons so its not a one off

Last game for instance i got 3 players back from injury and during the match 3 more were stretchered off ( IE the 2 guys from the corner of the pitch came to take them off , all 3 are now out for a minimum of 4 weeks).

well, i do not have such a large squad. i sold arbeloa and alonso, and loaned out pedro leon, granero and garay, and i only signed sahin and cassani, so i have only 21 players.

no, they were not tired, or at least very tired. as i said, khedira was injured at 93% on the 16th minute, and ozil at 72% at 60th minute. i do not remember about the others, but i try to never have any player below 60%, and every time they receive a knock, even if they can keep playing, i sub them inmediatly.

anyway, what irritates me the most is that the ref is not even calling it a fault, even less booking them. i understand if they try to play hard against my team, cause suposedly i have the quality advantadge, but the ref is there to look for a fair game.

Well, you're either unlucky or letting them regularly get lower than 75-80% condition in match. Either way there is nothing wrong with injuries in this version, and it certainly has nothing to do with the number of players in your squad.

Actually, statistically if the odds are p that a player gets injuries on one particular day, then if you have two squads, one of 36 players and one of 18 players the one of 36 players is twice as likely to get an injury on that day. That's just plain ol' statistics. However, by signing more players you won't get more in match injuries and I have never seen this happen. You're paranoid and it seems that you've invented a bug to complain about.

So i am paranoid because its never happened to YOU ?

Lucky you anyway i was just posting my comments not coming on here to argue with a complete prat like you . BYYEEEEEEEEEEE

Nah, I've had small squad and had injury crises, had big squads and had no injuries. Someone is just being paranoid.

Are you absolutely sure it's opposition tackles? Most injuries I get are as a result of kicking the ball, going for a sprint, etc.

Have you made your own training schedules? Maybe you're overworking them.

Well... You are the one making the claim. There is no logical reason why it would happen unless they specifically programmed it to happen and I doubt that they would do something like that.

The next question then must become do you have any evidence that this is what is really happening. You cite yourself as proof and then claim that me and my 40+ seasons on this version are then insignificant as in that time not only have I not seen this, but I haven't seen really any injury problems at all. I've had small squads with my Brisbane sides, medium squads with my Derby sides, small-medium with my Burton Squads and huge squads with my Honved sides. So as my experience isn't showing anything out of the ordinary and it's your experience that is showing something unusual and you are the one making the claim, it is up to you to prove that it is happening with some type of statistically significant data.

If you are getting lots of injuries then maybe your training schedules need looking at... just because they happen in a match it doesn't mean that it's not because of your training... if you overwork your players they will be more likely to pick up injuries - simple fact.

Well, you're either unlucky or letting them regularly get lower than 75-80% condition in match.

say what? lower than 75-80% you say? Ooops... I regularly let my players get below 70% (even 60%...) but I don't often have an injury crisis even if sometimes I get a bit thin on the ground in places. Like I've recently had a couple of players injured and a player in international duty - it left me with 2 centre-mids only (the other 3 were the injured/international). I've now got two centre-backs injured meaning I'm down to 2 plus a fullback who is also an accomplished DC as backup. this is life, this is football, it's normal, it's expected and it's the reason why you have a squad.

Imagine an FM life if you could only use one substitute in a match like the good old days of football from my childhood.. then you'd moan about injuries :p

I rarely let a player get below 70%, and my aim is above 75% or 80% if I'm on a light run of games.

Right now though, I have 5 games in 8 days, the last being away to Man U in the Champions League! Whoo! Thankfully I could in principal field up to 4 or arguably 5 different teams these days. The first is a match for anyone I'm likely to face, the second is still decent, but lacks a the firepower of the first. The third could win the Hungarian League, but wouldn't be a guarantee. The fourth could win the second division and the 5th can and has held their own in the second division. My board are finally upgrading my youth recruitment so hopefully I'll have some better players coming through the academy in the future. I current have a total of one Hungarian player on a professional contract! I tend to keep my B team in very good nick (they are some 20 points clear in the second division with 10 games to play) for the purposes of both player development and the random stupidly congested Hungarian calendar.

yes, its patch 11.3

about training, well, i have set my own training schedules, but they are medium intensity, three steps away from heavy workload, so i do not think that is the problem. besides, all the coaches have 5 stars, and are on light regime cause i have one specialist on every task plus a generalist coach that helps on all of them.

anyway, since i am new to this version of FM i just thought that maybe it was a recurring problem. its probably bad luck only, judging by your answers.

thanks a lot to everybody
