Does anybody know how big a save can get before it crashes?

I've heard that once your save gets so big it can no longer load up because of the pure size of it. Is that true?, because I want to start a new long term save.

As the game gets further into the future it takes longer to process which means that it's harder to play. Whether it still loads up or not, I don't know. Long-term games are fun but I guess it depends on what leagues you load up and where you want to manage. Long-term games can just be of one league. Although if you want to move around then finding the right balance can be difficult. Ask in the FM Careers Forum Discussion Thread if you're unsure of what leagues to load up. Many of them in there play longer term games or set out to so they may be able to help you find out the right balance. As could the people who help here .

Well my save crashed when it was 472MB...although it probably didn't crash because of its sheer file size.

Mines still going strong at 495mb, but i run it on a beast of a pc

why not compress your saved game so it has less chance to not load up due to the size of the file ?

right now, mine is only 67.1 mb Currently at April 2015
