Anyone had success with adapting big stars to completely different roles ?

I'm not asking if you've managed to train a player to natural/accomplished in another position, but rather, have you ever taken for example, someone who we know as a top striker, but turned them into a great CM, or something similar?

I've taken over Barcelona in 2020, and have decided to play Messi in the CM Advanced playmaker role,(am training him to play there, he's currently got no ablity there), as while his technical and mental stats are still immense, he's declined massively on the physical side so I don't back him on the wings anymore, and I don't play with an AMC. Hoping it'll work out for the best!

I did have a regen last year that was a top striker(ended up with over 600 goals for Liverpool in alll comps), but after I left the club, when he declined slightly(but not much, he played +7.5 ratings till he retired to be a coach at 38!), he was late trained to be a CM with great sucess.

I retrained Rooney to advanced playmaker CM too after he grew old and lost his physical advantage. He turned out decent and played a few more years than he would have as forward.
