change my file extention notpad icons

Annoyingly, this can't be done by any normal/easy method if you are using Vista or Windows 7. You can use this: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/231/1/An-Utility-to-Unassociate-File-Types-in-Windows-7-and-Vista.html

It doesn't actually matter though that those files have notepad icons on unless you want them to open in some other program when you double-click them, so it's not necessary to do anything at all really.
