How many of each staff role should you have?

They wouldn't let me have them when I ask them, if they can't afford them, right?

Not always, we've seen that generally the boards don't do a good job of setting budgets & limits and you need to impose your own self control to keep finances stable.

I haven't experienced that. Of course I take care of finances, but the board was really spot on when allowing or rejecting more coaches.

There really isnt much of an advantage to having one of em as all they do is tell you how long a player will be injured.

Better physio's are able to more accurately predict how long a player will be out. They also shave some time off the total length of some injuries.

This is not true; point me to any SI person post that backs this up.

What would be the point of having physios in the game if they didn't work with injured players to reduce their recovery period?

Because there are physios in real life. But they arent wizards and they cant reduce the time of injuries. Again, please direct me to any SI post saying that physios reduce the time of injuries.

There is the link below. It doesn't specifically say that the recovery period is reduced. However, if you only had heaps of injuries then having 2 or 3 physios would reduce the recovery time compared to 1 poor physio working by himself.

This attribute is exclusively for use with Physiotherapists. Having a Physio with a high rating in this attribute is something you should always look to have. If possible, have at least three Physios with high ratings for this attribute to ensure your players receive high-quality treatment to both prevent and rehabilitate injuries.

I don't think there is evidence that physios reduce the likelyhood of injuries or the recovery time. Not having one is bad, but having just one is fine in my experience. The physio should not only have a high Physio stat, but also high Determination, Motivation, Man Management and Discipline. As well as National or higher reputation. Like all staff members, having high-reputation personel increases the reputation of the club.

Until somebody actually test the impact of multiple (or higher quality) physios on the likelyhood of getting injuries in the squad, and come up with a conclusive answer, the usefulness of physios is an unknown factor. Just the same as multiple coaches in a training category.

Well, from my experience, it's either better physios or better training facilities that reduce the time taken to recover from injuries, it could be both, I'm not sure. If I play as a lower league team, my players will be out for longer than if I play as a top team with top facilities and physios. The most noticeable instance of this is when a player in my first team squad and a player of mine who was out on loan had the same injury, but the loanee had a much longer recovery time because he was at a club with poorer facilities or physios.

Sorry but a better physio will not make a pulled hamstring or a cold heal faster. In real life or in the game.

Well, I'm just speaking from my experience, you can take from it what you like.

As I said earlier, please point out anywhere where SI has said that a better physio speeds healing time. I know it seems obvious that it should be so but physios are basically cosmetic in game.

I didn't say SI had said this, or that I knew it for certain, I said this is how it seemed to me. I certainly don't think they are purely cosmetic, as there would be no point in having good/bad physios if they did nothing at all. I think the least they do is give more accurate reports, anything else is up for debate, but I do believe that better physios or facilities (it really could be either, or even other factors for all I know) reduce recovery times.

Um, I'm pretty sure a physio could make my dodgy groin clear up quicker than not seeing one at all. And because I've not been to see one, it still hurts. If you've no physio, surely player injuries will take longer to heal - or keep coming back?

I don't think physio's neccesarily make things "heal faster" but you'd imagine they'd aid players rebuilding strength after a serious injury and gradually working them back to fitness without risking further injury. So from most any injury it should cut things down a bit time-wise. Don't know if it does.

Maybe in the game for the more serious issues which need a specialist having a good physio means he can spot that the injury will need a specialist and that will cut down recovery time.

By the way what are the people who claim 'physios do not reduce injury length' medical credentials are? It is obvious you do NOT keep up with sport science and med even as a fan. Physios undoubtedly help the player recover quicker. If we look at ACL's or Knee reconstructions then historically those injuries can be very bad for the player and threaten his career. Not to mention they are out for the rest of the year. However having a knowledgeable physio can help with the recovery period and minimize damage. He can suggest something extreme such as the LARS acl surgery or have a much better rehabilitation schedule than a physio who is more inexperienced. Saying a physio has no effect on a players recovery period is like saying 1 technique coach isn't really different from another. Who do you think push clubs to get players to stand in freezing water the day after the game to mend little muscle tears and reduce soft tissue damage. Whether or not it works is debatable but the point is having good physios make a club better.

To suggest that medical science or improved rehabilitation techniques has nothing to do with a players recovery is rubbish. Physios directly or indirectly can help players get back on the field quicker and safer depending on their level of skill and experience. They do not do it themselves of course as there are many sport specialist centers out there to help but the physios are first on scene and that is damn important. They need to make an accurate assessment once they have the necessary information. Treatment begins from there. It is like saying ambulance Emergency Medical Teams don't really do anything. That It is up to the doctors and the patient themselves.

Btw Krald said it right and much more succinctly than I have.

If physios are cosmetic then that's a weakness in the game. There is a genuine role for them and that should be speeding up healing depending on how many and how good they are.
