Post your best 'Best 11' and tell us about them

Recommended Posts

Don't just post a picture, tell us about their career. This is probably better for Long Term saves with regens.:p

I had a holidayed game till summer 2021, and played from there, taking over Liverpool, who had been mid table for a little while, leaving in 2029 at the end of the season, as the most successful manager ever. When I left the save, I was in 2038, after spells with Brazil(unsucessful, left before I was sacked), Spurs(got the better of Liverpool with them, West Ham(usurped Spurs with them!), and 2 spells with England. Also, I'll be talking about the team from those names I thought were the best, it's messed up the formation!

Miguel - Comparisons with Reina can be drawn. Signed from Villareal at about the same age, was a rock at the back. Easily the best keep I've ever had. Released after 14 years at the club

Connor - Signed in my 2nd season, as my other CB(An Aging Kyle Bartley) was past it by this stage. Amazing. Didn't stay long after I left though, came back after 4 seasons at Newcastle for free, now 36 years old

Bartholemew - First signing for the club, and as with Connor, was nigh on impossible to get the better of. Stayed till 2034, before moving to AC Milan for two seasons. Since retired and took a coaching role at Chelsea

McCord - Great Right back, signed halfway through the 1st season. Had a great RB at the start, but sold him on, and bought McCord. Was amazing, though lost his place to another young RB by the end of my tenure, though regained it after I left. I never warmed to him though. Went to Man City before retiring to coach at Birmingham

Bowker - Incredible LB. Was a wonderkid and bit of a set piece specialist. Later went to West Ham and is now at Man City after I left (West Ham were a CL quality team at this time)

Wray - Great attributes, but I could never get him to fully perform. Broke into the team 3 seasons in, but Went to West Ham after I left, and is there now, under my management, he's only 32. His best seasons as a player have been when I wasn't in charge of him! Played him as a CM unlike that formation suggests

Lefrancois - Excellent DM, cost me 31 million though in the first season. Was older than most and retired the season after I left. Classy yet tough as nails (Halls was his heir apparent though, quality player)

Lawless - Amazing striker in his own right, but played him as an Inside Forward on the left wing. If he was real, he'd probably be Irelands best ever player. 192cm tall on the wing, he's currently 35, playing for Real Madrid and still worth a couple of mil. Got 18 goals in 20 appearances for them this season! Didn't break into my team till about 3-4 seasons in, but frequently got into double figures in the league for me.

Withe - Again, a striker played on the the wing as a inside forward, incredible. Currently aged 34 at Spurs(I took him there, he wanted a new challenge), has 150 caps and nearly 100 goals for England too. Godlike.

Taylor - Scored a shedload eventually, assisted a huge amount whenever he wasn't scoring. Still there at age 36, though perhaps should have retired a year or so ago. Englands record scorer. Best season was 59 goals, 31 assists in all comps. Legend. Pales in comparison to the big daddy

Vasquez - My all time favourite player on FM ever. Bought him first season, and he paid me back first season with over a goal a game in all comps and 20 assists. Beat it later by getting 69 goals in 61 appearences. All time appearance and goal leader for Liverpool, Played till I hired him as a coach this season. Was reborn as a CM/AM in his later years which prolonged his career(was 38 by the time he retired, and still a regular)

The rest -

Reina - We all know about him.

Hall - Replaced Lefrancois after I left, quality player

Moran - 25 year old world class regen, brought him to the club in my final season, only blossomed after I left though!

Kearney- Don't know who he was, came after I left, and has since retired!

Hadley - Great striker, currently at City, just a shame he had Taylor and Vasquez ahead of him. Was my supersub till I left then he got his real chance and took it.

Griffin - Signed for a pittance at age 16, challenged McCord for the RB spot and eventually took it, then I took him to Spurs. Has since gone to Everton though!

Cearense - Top player, but overpriced and joined after I left. Cost 96 million.

I played this formation

-----------------------Miguel------------------------

McCord-Bartholemew-Connor--Bowker

--------------------------------------------------------

--------------Lefrancois---Wray------------------

Withe------------------------------------Lawless-

-------------Vasquez----Taylor-------------------

BTW how on earth is your DM your top goal scorer?! This is FM10, score many from corners did he ;)

That's a case of the Best 11 thing buggering up. He was a Striker, who later in his career sat a bit deeper as a CM. I never once played him as a DM and I never saw the AI play him there, it was either ST/AMC/CM

Ah right, never seen that happen before. Great record there.

I like reading threads like this, especially on regens as I love them dearly.

I'll just post some of my favorite players throughout the years. Not necessarily the best ones, just some guys I liked working with, or whom I felt were special in some way

DC - Rafael Gaete

Currently a 20 year-old wonderkid DC. Great stats all over, but 5 for Jumping, lol. Has been good so far, not great, and it will be interesting to see if he can cement a place in my Man Utd starting eleven, it's a team full of stars and that low jumping might mess things up for him.

DC/ST - Rayan Yildrim

Interesting position combo, but I only use him as DC. 23 years old and certainly my future team captain. Scores quite a lot of headers, as is common for DC's on FM11, but has not been his usual self this season and is currently not playing much, but he'll be back.

ML/DMC/AMC - Negreiros

27 year old Brazilian super star, best stats in the team. "Leader" and "Midfield general". Highly professional. Took 2 years to sign him from Barcelona. I tried everything, but he was indifferent to my constant praise. Finally one day I saw he was seeking a new challenge and I coughed up the measly 23.5M Euro to match his release clause. Consistently delivers. When I signed him I held a press conference and upon being asked about my relationship with Negreiros, I said we have a great friendship (I had done this before with someone else, with good results) but he was unhappy with this. He doesn't like kiss-asses it seems. My best player, he carries the team when the other key players aren't delivering. Love him!

DR - Omar David

23-year old frenchie who was a wonderkid, but has never become as great as the media, and I, predicted. Sloppy in training, although honest about it when I kick his ass for it in private chat. Always seems to have below 7.00 in his current form. Bit of a disappointment, but feels realistic, so I'll keep playing him. And he's not horrible in any way, just not as good as I thought he'd be.

MR - Diego Sosa

27-year old Argentinian and probably the best MR I've ever had. One of those players without any weaknesses, nice 15+ stats almost all over. Great player, but missed two penalties in one game recently. Unthreatened in his MR position however.

S - Diego Arguedas

33-year old tireless Costa Rican attacker who was at the club ages before I even joined. Was not my first or even second choice for ages as I tend to hoard great strikers, but has revitalized his career this season, blasting in goals from left and right. Still great stats, also highly professional and well liked by everyone at the club. Good staff attributes and possibly our next assistant manager.

AMC - Daniel Franco

One of my absolute favorites, this 22-year old Mexican. Has cemented his place, completely battling out more experienced players. Seems to have great hidden stats, never causes problems and nearly always gets a high average rating, even when the rest of the team crumbles.

AMC - Rydell van der Ree

Franco's closest competition, and one year older. Dutch (obviously). Has a better reputation than Franco, and indeed delivers, but is unlucky to have Franco to contend with as AMC. Would have been a super star in any other team, but is lucky to play 10-15 games per season. Will probably be re-trained into a new position soon, he's too good to be kept on the bench.

Ok that's it, don't wanna get too carried away.

Nice thread, I like to read stuff like this :)
