How do you choose your name?

Just curious, how do you guys choose your name? Or will you just use the same name for every save you start?

I usually have 3 managers, my name as my main one and then two holiday journey mans who I loan out my youth too. Eric Vorderman and Tinashe Nengomasha ( Zimbabwean international footballer)

I always choose my real name when playing as sunday league rep, journeyman style but if I choose like international rep and manage a big club, I use my alter-ego 'Jay Smith'.

Always my real name. I just have to live the fantasy lol

I use my real name, but I've been known to make up Spanish or Italian names to manage in those countries, as the desire to use my own name is over-ridden by the unlikelihood of a rookie Englishman with no foreign language skills getting a job abroad.

I use my name for the main club i'm at. David Beckham for my England manager despite the fact he's still in my England team at the beginning of the game. Any others which are added for whatever reason are usually named after famous people or tv characters that i like

I use myself, or I like to holiday for a few seasons and play from there, just for a bit of difference, then my holiday manager is called Benny Dorm.

It's always felt weird for me to use my own name, considering the FM universe is like an alternative reality that I would never be part of. Plus, past FMs were restricted to male-only managers, so I've always used this one male character who's got his own backstory and everything.

And he's nice looking and drives a Ferrari.

I just use my own name and have delusions of grandeur! :o

Oh, and sometimes I use my sons name.

If I ever did use my own name, I'd probably create a backstory along the lines of winning a Jim'll Fix It-style competition, and it turned out I was so awesome, the club kicked out their current manager.

I generally come up with a name based on the nationality of the manager I'm playing, but how I choose my nationality varies from game to game. Currently playing in the Czech Republic as Lithuaian manager Kazys Dubeneckis.

If I ever did use my own name, I'd probably create a backstory along the lines of winning a Jim'll Fix It-style competition, and it turned out I was so awesome, the club kicked out their current manager.

I'll use my own name for my main save, or female versions of existing managers for silly saves - ie Wanda Ramos, Alice Ferguson, Josie Mourinho etc.

Just started using Alter Ego, can I just clarify the cat thing, as I have 2 cats and would like to choose which you get to abuse.

Thanks. I decided, after playing this game so long, I had never ever recorded anything ever. So much time, all gone. Screen caps lost in old PC's but nothing else. So the blog is my way to record what I'm doing in 11, one day I look back and enjoy the fancy youtube clips.

i choose my own name for every new save, nothing too fancy.

I name my manager "Hong Gil-Dong" and make him North Korean, Hong Gil-Dong is Korean for "Joe Bloggs" or "John Doe".

I just go with something very stupid and childish...my current manager is Peter Mingeface

Great thread this. I have never even thought of using another name other than my own, It would take some of the enjoyment away from me (unless of course I manage to find some kind of fame and fortune in RL lol)

Never used any other but my real name though I nicknamed myself a few times.

I'm very egocentric so I always use my name and I never even considered using something else.

I wonder if the various professional footballers/managers that play the game use their real names? Could get confusing for them if they do.

I always use my own name. Once, i named my manager Edison Arantes do Nascimento(aka Pele) and created a backstory but I didn't feel like i'm the manager so I quit that game.
