What to do with surplus of Strikers?

Recommended Posts

I am playing w/Besiktas Turkey. After my first season I started to sign promissing players through my scouting. And the last season which was my fouth season; I run into the non-scoring strikers problem and bought a young Chiliean striker, since my promissing strikers are not developed enough to start first 11. However with all the strikers I bought before and couple promoted to my youth now I have a surpluss of strikers. Ok here is my tactic: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/9284/taktikm.jpg

As you can see I play 4-2-3-1 with wide wingers. So I can just use 1 striker. And we have a rule of 8 foreign players to get registered in Turkey. Costea is my veteran striker, and I think he will be with me for one or two more years. Here is his profile:http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/2280/costea.jpg

My Turkish promissing strikers:

I play with Ramirez and Costea as of now. If you look my promissing strikers ages'; you can see that all of them will be good enough for the first just team around same time. So I can't play them all, but I don't want to loose them either. What would you do? Change tactics in time so I can play with 2 strikers, loan them out, or sell most of them and stick to the tactic? By the way I don't want to play 4-4-2. I find it very classic and simple tactic.

you could try retraining a couple of the younger players to AML, AMR or AMC positions based on their stats

Oh that is a good idea. I couldn't think of that. I believe this guy could become a good AMR http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/7713/soysa.jpg . Also this guy http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5013/donkor.jpg could become good AMR, but if you look his height and jumping it would be a pitty not to use him in the middle. Maybe he could become a good inside forwars in AMR. Doctor Sibeko also could become AMR. It is a shame for Doctor Sibeko not to have good passing and creativity skills, which could make him good AMC

ive developed this problem too (mainly due to playing fm drunk sometimes and having the unreal urge to sign/buy anyone i can!)

so in werder i now have milyveski, lukaku, javier hernandez, and 4 regens who are all starting standard and would be for most of europes best. Ive also loaned out another 2 strikers 19 and 20 who are on the verge of first team football standard, another 2 in the udner 19's who will make the standard too. and just for added lol's ive realised a regen i bought for cm who can also play st, now actually plays immense as a forward

ill let you add that up, but i think youll find its far too many for 2 postions, you gotta bit the bullet like me and do a clear out im afraid :/

I wish I was drunk when I was signing them. At fisrt I discovered Samuel Ahmed and Hamza DOnkor through scouting. I was at my first or second season, so I think they will develop to be a good first team player. Then I scouted Doctor Sibeko and my offer got accepted, but had to wait for a year until he turns 18. I was thinking that in time I play Donkor or Ahmed, and the other loan-out to a Turkish clubs and wait until he becomes Turkish (in 5 years). Same for Sibeko, I was going to wait for him. After I have these transfers I signed Sinan Soysal. He is Turkish and I have no problem.

I was expecting my veteran striker Costea to perform decently for couple years until my new signings develop to be good enough for the first team. Sadly I ran into series of bad preformances from Costea. I tried everything including resting him, putting him in reserves, putting him after 65th minutes so the oppositian teams would be tired, starting him at first team and sticking to him. Whatever I do he wasn't doing good. He was missing at least 3 CCC per game. I tried Samuel Ahmed and Hamza Donkor, but they were no good at time either. Donkor was to slow and Ahmed wasn't scoring at all. So I agrred with Ramirez for the next year, and suddenly Costea started playing well. In the mean time 2 of my other youth strikers developed very well. And when I saw that Atletico Madrid was making offer to Cardamone I get greedy and thought 2 mil EU is a deal which I can't miss, so I signed him.

And I am where I am right now. This is better than not having any strikers problem, but again it is a problem. I don't think I will be able to keep them all either :-(

So do I, and I don't even need a drink for that. In my current game I signed up just about every decent youngster my scouts would find, and it wasn't until later that I realised I'd snapped up 10 centre forwards!

Surely change your formation or get selling are the answers!

And 4-4-2 is

I just don't like 4-4-2, but it seems to be the best fit :-( The only way around is to play with 3 defenders type tactics, but it would waste my attacking wingers plus RB and LB areas are too much vulnarebla with this type of a tactic.

Three at the back doesn't work on FM, I'm afraid. :(

If it was me, I'd be thinking about 4-4-2 (or at least some variation on 4-4-2). Do you have the right kinds of players to play the diamond maybe?

Nothing wrong with 4-4-2 anyway and it doesn't have to be a rigid and boring 4-4-2. Lots of people seem to think 4-4-2 has to be boring like England played it in the World Cup! :D You can make it a fluid formation instead and have plenty of movement and roaming.

The other option is, as others have said, to retrain some strikers to play other positions. Try retaining creative and cultured strikers to AMCs and quick and tricky strikers to AMRs and AMLs.

If it was me though, I'd be looking to play two up front and playing 4-4-2 or the diamond depending on the quality of my wide players and central midfield players.

My palyers could fit to 4-4-2, but I don't like 4-4-2. I will try to retrain my youngters, but if they can't develop there will only 2 choice left. Either sell them or 4-4-2 :-((
