Retrained positions

Do players still lose their retrained positions if they stop training or playing in them? What about when they reach natural level?

Don't know for sure about FM11 but up to and including 10, players would lose a trained position if not played/trained there, even if you trained them to natural.

as far as i can tell they dont loss their postions once retrained. I've had a couple of players retrained to be wide men and they have retained this postion for raound 2 season maybe a bit more now since being removed from the training

They don't lose the position if you play them in that position. What happened to me when I removed the position focus from training was that the player lost his new position after playing the world cup for his national team on his old position.

If they're off position training, and have played quite a few games on a different position than the trained one, then they slowly do lose it... I trained a young defensive midfielder with great defensive attributes to play at centre back, and he became accomplished at it in one season... Next season, I send him out on loan, and he plays the majority of games as a Def Mid, and comes back with a 'Competent' rating in the centre back position...
