High determination and low work rate, and low determination and high work rate

Recommended Posts

Well from a purely theoretical "what do I imagine it would mean" standpoint with absolutely no basis on known fact I'd guess a determined player when he's got the ball, would push forward, not be deterred, and not give up even if they're like 2-0 down and there's 2 minutes to go. Wheras the work rate dictates how much he'd be willing to move about the pitch. So like a midfielder with 20 work rate 5 determination might give up easily and start playing worse, but still be willing to pitch in at either end of the pitch and move around a lot. I'm guessing determination is a bit of a mixture really between work rate and bravery, wheras work rate's.. just how often they'd move around the pitch.

I'm entirely guessing though so I'm probably entirely wrong.

Determination = How a player reacts to going down a goal, amongst other similar things

Work rate = Berbatov's evil twin

So it depends! You probably wouldn't want a wing-back with a low work-rate, but some roles allow you to get away with it (i.e. trequartista). I wouldn't underestimate determination.
