What you need to rely on is your scout reports when looking at players and your coaching staff for players you have at your own club. They both tell you what they think the potential of a player could be. Yourself; well look at key attirbutes in young players. High physical and mental stats are normally a sign at an early age, as are key technical areas, depends on what position you're looking for though.
