Can't Approach Player

I've just started a new game with Leeds United. I'm trying to sign a few players with good potential for my reserve side and i came across former Portsmouth striker Omar Koroma. He's on a free and isn't banned or anything but the approach to sign button isn't there. Myself and Raith Rovers are interested so i think i have a good chance of getting him but the game won't let me sign him. Anyone have an idea why this is? Cheers

P.S. The scout button is there so its not because he's a "grayed out" player or anything..

Sounds like he's announced a date for his retirement, should say on his personal screen in his profile if he has.

The game should let you offer players contracts even if they're retiring, the worst they can do is say no.

he may be lined up to play in a select friendly match to give him some exposure, if so you cant try to sign him until after the game has taken place, either that or he wants to retire.

Cheers for the responses guys. Because i could only scout him i did so, and for some reason he was available after that. I highly doubt that was the reason however it shall remain a mystery...

I'm fairly confident this would have been the reason. Players scheduled to play in the trialist friendlies cannot be signed till after the friendlies take place.
