Playing disc saves on Steam?

Installed the game via the disc and have got a saved game on the go.

Haven't bothered to download any patches yet, so - seeing as though it automatically updates it - I've decided to install the game via steam using my game reg key.

When the game is downloaded to steam, will I be able to play my saved game or not? Will I have to move the file to another folder?

I dont use steam but if your using an unpatched save and then patch it I dont see any reason why using steam would stop it from working.

The save game is stored in the user directory, not the game directory, you can load and continue your save game without moving it.
