Ahhhh

trying to get into a long term game but i keep getting the crash dump!!!! as far as im aware this cant be fixed can it, anyway after it happens and i re-load it eventually happens again in few game days weeks or months or years, but always happens, is this just a coincidence or is my save game f'd? lol

happens to me mate. All i get from football manager is problems!

Why don't you post something on the bugs section and upload the savegame?

Delete your crash dumps folder located in here: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2011. Maybe that will help...

There's loads of potential reasons for the game crashing. Can you tell us a bit more about your PC?

A few potential solutions listed below:

- Make sure you're playing the most up to date patched version.

- Update Java

- Update DirectX

- Update your graphics and sound card drivers

- Go to preferences within the game and untick "enable data collection"

lol thank you for the replies, by the way i know it happens to us all and im not moaning as it prob seems, just get frustrating, i will try some of these solutions before i say more, i always assumed there was no way of fixing it, i was more wondering if it kept doing it because the save game was broken and not the game in general, thanks

Can you give some more info on your PC if you're still struggling? Can you run a DXDiag and copy and paste the info in?

OK - I'm no technical guru, but here goes...

Your PC is below the minimum spec for graphics card. You may still be able to get it to work, but to my untrained eye it looks like you're using an 8 year old display driver so that needs to be sorted out to give you any chance whatsoever.

Your sound driver is 4 years old so I reckon you could have a crack at updating that too.

Have you actually updated Java also? Go here if not - http://www.java.com/en/download/

And, are you running the latest patched version, for sure? Go to the FM menu, game status, and tell us the version number listed on that page.

Although I've got to say - you may well not ever get it running properly with an under-spec graphics card - this will give you a decent chance.

There's no relation between why the game might work on his PC, or on any others, and not on yours to be honest - the frustration with PC games are that just about every machine they're expected to run on is unique.

You could see if windows update would be of use in downloading updated graphics card drivers i think? The drivers would definitely be free.

Its bloody stupid runs fine and then crashes brother comp alot more powerful as its a gaming computer and he gets the same issue time to move on what a waste this game is bug riddent like everyone says

I'd been getting crash dumps with increasing regularity in my savegame. After losing the odd compete evenings' work, I'd got into the habit of saving after every match and at least 3 times per gameweek. However, after more than a week of gametime I've arrived at 31st August 2011 and it crashes every time. I can't holiday or do anything to get past it. Crying shame; I was deeply immersed in that save.

I'll try a the suggestions above, but it's looking pretty terminal to me. Never happened with FM10.

I got crashes all the time with FM10 but with FM11 hardly any. The times it has happened now is when i've tried to run too many programs at the same time.

As for chris. Your specs are at the very minimum. I would expect a few crashes there.

Not saying it is your computer, but it certainly seems like it plays it part.

Remember that approximately half of your computers memory is needed by windows xp alone.

Processor isn't on the fastest end.

Graphics card is not really up for todays standards.

I'm no expert on this at all, but as your computer is playing its parts in the crashes.

Thanks for the offer Matt. I might later; right now I've completely deleted and reinstalled the game (11.1) and am starting a fresh save. If I get as far as Aug 31 2011 and am scuppered again, I'll be well gutted. I'll keep back my latest save on the old game in case I need to send it later, though. Bear in mind I'm in Cambodia with crappy phone lines and internet connections, so I'm wary of bothering your people in England.
