fascinating read bout real life player injuries/fitness

Recommended Posts

Lot's of injuries of course is a realistic part of the game.

In my first season with Spurs i barely had any injured players(unless pre-injured in the database). I went through a whole season with an almost fully fit squad, and i believe this is because i trained them hard in pre season-Strength/Aerobic/Tactics-all on high, but gave them days off after each game. Then during the season i was religious about resting players after each game. 1 day off, 2 days, sometimes a player would receive 3 days off. And every player, regardless of whether they played a match that week or not, would have 1-2 days off a week. My injury prone players, such as Ledley King, did have a lot of injuries, but i gave him a specialised programme, and gave him 3 days off after he played a match.

I had the odd injury here and there, but for the most part no. And my training was not fitness centric, but rather emphasised on match prep and team bonding. I looked at training every week and no player ever had red arrows, unless they were a long term absentee. And funnily enough i had the smallest treatment table in the league.
