how do i raise my squad rating so i can buy better players? as im in the scottish prem and the most expensive player i can buy is like 1.2m, do i have to win cups etc?

It will take a very long time to have any positive effect on the reputation of the SPL, there was a thread a while ago where someone from si confirmed that Scotlands reputation having been in decline in recent years has been implemented in the game and the effects of this makes the league seem to yo-yo up and down the mid twenties in the rankings for the first few seasons. I'm managing Celtic myself and have managed to attract players like Vaclav Kadlec, Zhirkov and Hargreaves so far in 2015 despite never having been past the last 16 stage of the PL. Also having top youth facilities can help by producing regens that go on to become high rep players which will in turn make other high rep players more likely to see the leahue as an attractive proposition.

Edit: Also keep an eye out for players transfer listed by request, the transfer bug can come in handy if you are willing to exploit it by going for players that have fallen out with their managers and are looking to move.

it's not that simple. DLR will help now; the problem is the league's reputation is low so high rep players won't consider it, however rich and successful you are.
