Making a reserve team??

Is there a way to make a reserve team in the game? I currently have none and it does get rather ugly having to make friendlies all the time to keep my fringe players fit. I think also gives players a false sense of morale from winning easy games against small teams...though I'm not sure of that.

It really would make sense if there was a way to do this. In Romania, where I am managing most teams seem to have a second side at a lower level. Mine wouldn't be in a playable league but that wouldn't mean they don't exist, does it?

If I know it doesn't falsely alter player's morale then I'll force myself to continue with the friendlies, but I would love another option.

I thought I read somewhere that you can ask the board to make a reserve squad, or something. I may have misunderstood.
