Seeing the improvements in the tactics and how we understand them I would like a change in training schedules, which are also still stuck in a slider rut.

Also, i would like to see online shop, where we can say how much ticket prices are. Also, if we are going through a good run or a bad run, an online forum, so we can read what supporters are saying. For example, current managers can see search forums, i would like to see the same. The next one is Betting. I think rigging matches, like Juventus a few seasons ago. That should be in place. And i would like to see non football related matters too. Currently when someone is "finding it hard to settle in", we cant really do much. So, it would be cool to get involved. Because dont forget when we do first get the job we have to attend a press conference and it says "involved in all areas of the club". That should include non-football matters too.

On the same vane as TaylorB - NO

I know each player wants the game to do certain things for their own experiences but FM is a football management game; even the most successful managers do not have an input into ticket pricing and so on. The closest it gets is a manager maybe being involved with discussions about things like stadia and youth policies a'la mr Wenger and even then they don't have the final say so giving FM Managers the chance to make those decisions is unrealistic.

If you become a successful manager and have been with the same club a while the game already allows you to have an input into some football related matters such as chosing your feeder team (rather than picking from a list you are provided) and you can already ask the board to expand the stadium, or develop the training/youth facilities. The only area I would like to see this expanded to is being able to ask the board to expand the scouting network rather than being reliant on them allowing expansion based on where you are in the respective league system.

I personally see no benefit from any of the suggestions that managers should be able to set ticket prices or merchandise costs etc we aren't playing the sims or some other game of that ilk - and thats before all the requests to be able to buy houses and cars with the salary! I am very very glad that SI have repeatedly said this is not an area they plan to take the game in.

Not sure I actually want to see this...but how about the option to recuit Dieticians (increases Natural Fitness maybe?) & Motivationalists / Psychoanalysts (Gives a buffer to the morale values against usual adverse effects?)

1- the stat for each player should depend on the scout statistique and the time he passes to evaluate the player. In fact, which club did not make any mistake in hiring a player and which is not so good as announced. Scounting should include the risk with wrong evaluations of the player.
2- GREAT improvement of the training session ( many sub-sessions ) with complete and detailed report every day in each dicipline ( fitness, muscle training, sprint, etc..)
There in real life of a coach more than 30 type of different training sessions. The coach is passing more than 50% of his time to schedule with assistant, to watch, to encoourage, to blame, advice each player in the training area. To win a match it's not only tactics and player selection, it's more training, current form, motivation in training, performances in many diffrent sessions
3- More possibilities to discuss with each player on different topics ( made as press conferences )
4 - MORE after match coaching discussions.
5 - end of topic for 2010 . or 2011 ?...

A few of my thoughts on features in FM2010 and future releases:

1.) Press conferences: Abandon the "before and after every match" method, instead allow manager to call them for specific reasons, like before/after an important match, beginning/end of season, when a new player is bought or a star is sold, during a good/bad streak, et cetera. Take out the monotony, take out the laborious nature, but leave in the feature as it's an important part of management.

2.) Improve AI roster building: Improve the AI's roster building to build to their preferred formation, provide reasonable depth charts (not buying too many superstar reserves, yet not going without reasonable cover), consider youth/age/future in transfer & roster management.

3.) Improve loan system: Surely any professional player could get loaned out somewhere, if the price were right? I have never been able to understand the logic of which teams respond to no-cost or low-cost loan offers.

4.) Improve training & coaching management: Give the manager more options on deciding general approach & emphasis of training & coaching, but reduce micromanagement by making assistants and coaches handle the details of those elements.

5.) New game setup & database options: Allow more options when creating a new game and selecting a player database. Perhaps a slider between [very small...small...med-small...medium...med-large...large...very-large...huge] would work better. Perhaps allowing a new game to focus on different continents, i.e. activate more european players / larger euro database but reduce asian/african/american players active. Add checkbox to automatically add enough players to database to make all (or all-in-continent) national teams available to manage.

6.) Tweak mid-to-lower league staff & scouting options: Why limit the number of staff when there's no limit on the number of players? Perhaps give a budget for staff instead of a firm number of staff. This would allow a manager to adapt staff to his personal preferences on how to best develop the club. Also, give a little more flexibility and logic to the scouting range for these clubs. Why can't one scout travel across the channel, even if the club can't "afford" a whole European scouting network by all scouts? (Personally, the whole scouting system needs a re-do, but I'll save that for another post or my blog.)

Every year we seem to have the same issue that clubs we choose to manage never seem to have a decent budget, we complain to the researchers and every year we get the same answer “you club has just spent x amount, how can you justify another x amount on top of what has just been spent” and if the club doesn’t spend then they still get no money “The club obviously has no money as they haven’t spent anything this summer”.

I seem to have an idea to get around this.

When you start at your club, the players that have come in over the summer should not really be there yet meaning you should decide on how the budget is spent.

What I suggest is that the game has all the transfers over the summer in memory ready to be done on the date that they went through in real life. If you are not the manager involved in one of these transfers then they go through as usual, however when you are involved then you should have the final say.

For example lets use Zat Knight.

If you don’t play as Villa or Bolton the transfer of Zat Knight goes through as per normal on the 25th of July 2009 (the date the deal was done in real life).
However if you are
a) Aston Villa a bid will come in from Bolton which you can accept or refuse,
b) Bolton then Aston Villa offer you Zat Knight for £5m on same date, or your board says they have come to an agreement.

It is then up to you if you want to accept or refuse. The budget obviously changes accordingly depending on whether you make these transfers or not.

It obviously means a bit more work for the programmers, but it would make the game even more amazing than it already is and really would stop so many ****ed off gamers annoyed at having little no budget.

That Eastern European teams dont buy English, French, Dutch and any other Western European players. I was managing Artmedia Bratislava lately and played MSK Zilina. They had 4 English players under 23 who came from clubs as Arsenal, Man U and Portsmouth. 3 French players from Nantes, PSG and Monaco and 2 dutch players from Ajax and AZ. All these players were under 23 and some of them even came under the age of 18. Now i know transfers begin to start at an earlier age, but these? No way thats realistic. Its even more unrealistic that they are bought for amounts that vary from 50k to 1 mil and are sold for ridiculous amounts like 8 or 9 million. Its clear reputation of leagues, and clubs have to worked out more. A dutch player who is 16 years old will never move to Slovakia or Hungary. Same goes for English players.

So my idea....make reputation bigger en more various so small countries and clubs really are smaller then the big guys in Western Europe

Woops almost forgot my number 1 idea of the evening. Its about scouting your upcoming opponents. All you get is a pre scripted text which almost always states the same. Now here is my idea which can make scouting more usefull

First of all, a scout doesnt doe reports on opponents. Assistant managers do or even the managers themselves. Why dont we get a message a week in advance if we would like to visit the opponents match?

Ok back to the report. Its always the same. 5 lines of text and thats it.
Why dont we get a full report. I mean a screen in which you can see the expected formation. Star player, weakest links, results from last 5 matches (form), suggested formation, players in form or lacking of form, players who are on a light injury. To make a long story short, it can be a lot more detailed. We are left a bit out in the cold sometimes in this area and it aint neccesary.

hi there i noticed loads of ppl put there ideas up on here for future fm games and some get taken notice of, but one i have not seen and it really bugs me (hopefully i not alone) is the way we have to choose the leagues at start of game it the only part that i think really needs changing but has not changed since the very first games!!?

at the mo we select the leagues we wanna be able to play in and then were stuck with that all the way thru our save (which i dunno bout u but i find annoying cuz i sometimes change my mind and have 2 start again or i load potential leagues i think i might wanna play and they end up using unnecessary processer power!!?does this haggle anyone else??

what i propose SI shud do and i dont see any reason why it wud not work is that you load only one league at the start of the game and say for example you were man u then a couple of seasons down the line or whatever depending on how well you been doing say barcelona came in for you and offered you the managers job and you accept the game then loads the spanish league up instead of the premier league so there still only one league running!!

this way you only have 1 league running at any one time and you can also end up managing anywhere in the world!!

please any feedback or suggestions wud be appreciated i think they shud look at this one!!! cheers shuff85....:)

I know a few suggestions will have been made already but heres my list for possible improvements/ideas for the future of FM - the game we love so much. I know it may look like a lot of suggestions but any feedback will definately be welcome! Also a massive well done to Miles and the team for what looks like a cracking FM2010! cheers

OVERHAUL OF NEWS HEADLINES & ARTICLES
Improved realistic news headlines and journalistic articles/text separated into 4 tabs: your club news, your league news, national club news, and international news (similiar to what CM2010 have done).

REVAMPED MATCH SOUND
Sound Designer brought in to reflect match attendance figures, home and away fans’ noise, possible muffled stadium announcer and music etc.

DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT INTERACTION
Recommend domestic club players to international managers for international selection if they are in good form. Also international managers can interact with domestic managers and ask them if they think player A can do a job for England etc.

REVAMPED PRESS CONFERENCES
Complete overhaul of these needed (wider variety and intelligence needed to combat repetitiveness) Hold press conferences for player signings. Also have the ability to call them for events and hold them with the club captain / new signing.

RELEASE CLUB STATEMENTS
Release a club statement with regards to an event. "We have absolutely no intention of selling Joleon Lescott to anyone". Players could release statements too: "John Terry has committed himself to the club despite speculation linking him with Man City".

AUTHENTIC TRAINING GROUND NAMES
Include genuine club training ground names such as “Carrington”, "Colney" and “Cobham”. The training ground should play an important part in a manager's career.

FITNESS TEST RESULTS & PLAYER MEDICALS
Include Fitness Test Results (for players returning for pre-season, and before a match).
Results could monitor player body fat percentages (should be averaging around 12% for a professional) which could better reflect a player's fitness & stamina conditions. Introduce player medical results when signing a player, including a condensed team doctor/head physio report, and the player’s injury history. Better details of specific injuries and progress would also be a bonus.

INTERACTION WITH INJURED PLAYERS
Ability to interact with injured players to try and boost morale (could have an adverse affect if your trying to rush the player back too early / ignore him whilst injured).

NEW SET PIECE GENERATOR
Design your own set piece moves and see them take effect during a match

PERSUADE PLAYERS TO JOIN THE CLUB DURING NEGOTIATIONS
Before contract negotiations begin, try to lure the player you want to your club with statements such as: “This club can improve your chances of playing for the national team." Sell European football to them, tell them they will be the club captain, fantastic facilities, fan base etc.

SQUAD MEETING & SETTING SEASON OBJECTIVES
When you first join a club or at the start of every season you could issue season objectives to the squad (must push for top two spot), and set players targets (striker to get 20 goals this season, or goalkeeper to make 10 clean sheets etc.) Setting unrealistic targets or failure to meet these targets could affect player morale or earn them an improved contract.

POST MATCH REACTIONS FROM AI PLAYERS & MANAGERS
Introduce players’ and AI managers’ post-match reactions

GLOBAL TRAINING CAMPS
Introduce training camps where the squad could be sent too – Take them to authentic training facilities/academies globally (Coverciano and La Manga etc.) All individually having very different effects on the squad.

IMPORTANT INTERACTION WITH CLUB CAPTAIN
Your club captain should be the nucleus of the team, the eyes and ears of the manager, and opinions of recent performances/morale and signings should be considered important.

FANS/MEDIA REACTION TO CHANGING EXISTING CLUB CAPTAIN
Include fans & media reaction to the changing of a club/nation captain.

TESTIMONIALS
Introduce player testimonials with all proceeds going to charity. Favourite personnel of the player from former/other clubs can be included in the team selection (like a select XI Team)

ABILITY TO PAY OFF EXISTING CLUB DEBTS
Include the ability to pay off existing club debts and loans with your transfer funds.

COMPENSATION PACKAGES FOR INJURED INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS
Clubs could appeal for compensation with the Nation's FA for players injured on international duty.

PARACHUTE PAYMENTS & BETTER PROMOTION PACKAGES
Introduce parachute payments for relegated clubs and realistic promotion packages.

INTERACTION WITH FANS!
Interact with fans (through club statements, fanzines or fan representatives. Include fans’ opinion polls over favourite player / best performances from the last match etc. Radio phone-in topics could be included. Include the ability to praise the travelling fans or apologise to them over a poor result.

CONGRATULATIONS WINDOW
Include a congratulations/winner's window with a graphic/confetti/fireworks when you win a competition to add a sense of achievement for gamers (definitely needed!) Chairman and fans should have a greater reaction to success (particularly international success).

ATTENDANCE FIGURES
Include attendance graph / figures displaying information regarding both home and away fans.

INCLUDE GROUNDSMAN, KITMAN AND DIETICIAN IN CLUB STAFF
Include Head Groundsman (ask to relay pitch during a fixture break / sprinkle surface before a game, and request pitch conditions) and Club Kitman roles (this could allow gamers to choose which kits to wear for each match) at the club. A Dietician could be brought in to improve players' physical conditions but may have an adverse affect on morale.

TOUCHLINE BANS FOR MANAGERS
Managers could be given touchline bans by the FA, which would prevent them from making any of the new 'touchline shouts' for a match if they have spoken out about a referee, or acted/commented inappropriately.

Any thoughts ppl?

Firstly I'd like to say I like the idea of the new tactic editor. It will be interesting to see how in depth it goes.

I've had some thoughts about it:

1. With the player defined roles, i.e. Deep lying playmaker, would it be possible to toggle exactly what this role entails, so to give more individual freedom to the manager in terms of tactics. If I have a deep lying playmaker I still want him to press and close the space for example and I want him to defend deep, but I would prefer it if when he was deep he passed short but to be more expansive with his passing when he moved up the pitch. I wouldn't want to see him playing hail-mary 'glory' passes from deep and giving the ball back to the opposition just because he is labelled a Deep lying playmaker. I would imagine this would be particularly visible with the analysis. If my Deep lying playmaker is hitting too many stray balls from deep I want to be able to do something about his roll, i.e. only be creative beyond half way line or something.

2. It would be great to be able to make your own defined roles. For example a midfield general or an off the shoulder striker. Maybe the features of the role could be chosen such as try to be the offside trap, move into channels, attack near post when the ball is wide, hit shots with power, press defenders off the ball etc. That way you could have more unique styles within the game. Obviously the effect those roles have depends entirely on the player attributes for the player in question.

3. To go a little further than that I would love to be able to suggest certain areas that I would like players to play in. I know that at one stage of the CM history there was a feature where you could place the players depending on which segment the ball was in. I wouldn't want to go as far as that because it would be too complicated and in reality players can't be controlled that much in such a dynamic game. But it would be great to be able to adjust the defensive positioning of my tough tackling midfielder to adjust the space between the backline and midfield. Or tell my playmaker which areas of the pitch to play attacking passes from and which areas to play simple passes. Depending on the rigidity of your tactics (and maybe how well they have been trained) would determine how well they would follow the instructions. For example when the ball is out wide with my winger, I really want to see my striker attacking the near post. They may do it because they are a good striker, but there should be some way as a coach to try to get them to do that under your instruction. Whether it be through the player instructions or coaching.

4. For set-pieces, whether you have a set piece editor or not, it would be good to add some variation to the set pieces. On FM2009 I would play and you would select the attacking corner type. For example into 6 yard box. That is fine and obviously it doesn't always go to the same place and player movements are different etc. But if a team constantly played the same corner routine opposition would pick up on it. Instead I found that as long as I had a good corner routine I would score plenty of corners (particularly in the lower leagues). I have yet to see a team in reality that doesn't vary the routines a little bit. Sure you may cross the ball into the 6 yard box most of the time, but now and then they will decide to play a short corner, or hit it to the edge of the box (pre-planned rather than poorly hit corner). There should be some way to set before the game a second or third type of routine and roughly the frequency it should be used. Obviously again whether it is used at the right time is down to the players.

5. Improved coaching system to try and help the players improve in the systems you have developed. Particularly if you have user defined rolls or interesting tactical plans, it would be great to be able to train those more specifically and see them have an effect on the pitch. Also in terms of player development you could see their ability to achieve certain in game roles increase and therefore maybe alter the defined player role.

6. Definitely need improve coaching feedback. Most of the time I haven't got a clue what is going on with my players in training. Since most of the time spent at a football club is on the training pitch it would seem like there should at least be greater feedback from the coaching staff.

In a team report...why are there only defenders, midfielders and attackers? I mean what has happened to the GK? Arent they important enough?

Other thing on team report... Why do we get a report on the best eleven? Why not the entire selection. Let us know who is 1st choice on the AMR but also who is 2nd or 3rd. I know it can be found manually, but this will make things go way faster when you take over a new squad or when you hit 2020 with a full team of regens.

The wizard and predefined roles are great... but still you should tweak the instructions to your particular liking and players and the game will allows for this. After playing in FM Live with this system, I can tell you that many (most?) managers do this. It's so powerful to have these shortcuts to make adjustments throughout the game. The whole new wizard/shouts system is AWESOME and I can't bring myself to play the game without them.

I would also like the ability to add a broader selection of staff when starting a new game. It's lame playing with 98% staff from the nation(s) you have active... when you would like to get scouts from around the globe to help implement your club's global scouting network.

OVERHAUL OF NEWS HEADLINES & ARTICLES
Improved realistic news headlines and journalistic articles/text separated into 4 tabs: your club news, your league news, national club news, and international news (similiar to what CM2010 have done).

That would be great.

REVAMPED MATCH SOUND
Sound Designer brought in to reflect match attendance figures, home and away fans’ noise, possible muffled stadium announcer and music etc.

There was a poll on here about how many users played with the sound on or off, and most played with it off. It's probably been deleted now. Also, adding chants (even just club names repeated to a popular tune) would take ages.

DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT INTERACTION
Recommend domestic club players to international managers for international selection if they are in good form. Also international managers can interact with domestic managers and ask them if they think player A can do a job for England etc.

Again, this would be brilliant.

REVAMPED PRESS CONFERENCES
Complete overhaul of these needed (wider variety and intelligence needed to combat repetitiveness) Hold press conferences for player signings. Also have the ability to call them for events and hold them with the club captain / new signing.

I agree again.

RELEASE CLUB STATEMENTS
Release a club statement with regards to an event. "We have absolutely no intention of selling Joleon Lescott to anyone". Players could release statements too: "John Terry has committed himself to the club despite speculation linking him with Man City".

Already in, just not those words.

AUTHENTIC TRAINING GROUND NAMES
Include genuine club training ground names such as “Carrington”, "Colney" and “Cobham”. The training ground should play an important part in a manager's career.

I don't think that would add anything tbh.

I'm not sure the fat percentage would be any more than a gimmick tbqh. Also, if you take a player on trial you can request a medical. Perhaps being able to request one without the trial would be good.

INTERACTION WITH INJURED PLAYERS
Ability to interact with injured players to try and boost morale (could have an adverse affect if your trying to rush the player back too early / ignore him whilst injured).

I think this would be too limited. You already get negative affects from rushing them back, and you can interact briefly at the start of the injury. What more could be added?

NEW SET PIECE GENERATOR
Design your own set piece moves and see them take effect during a match

Have you played the CM demo? Their set piece creator is horrible and buggy. Sorry to say it, but any SI attempt would be pretty bad too, PaulC has admitted as much.

Good in principal, but it would get repetitive (like team talks) and would be too easily exploited. You can already convince them to join because of European football ("X has said that a major reason behind his decision to join the club was the chance to play European football" comes up after you sign a player).

Well, overall objectives are already in. Player ones would be good if well implemented.

POST MATCH REACTIONS FROM AI PLAYERS & MANAGERS
Introduce players’ and AI managers’ post-match reactions

Are in.

GLOBAL TRAINING CAMPS
Introduce training camps where the squad could be sent too – Take them to authentic training facilities/academies globally (Coverciano and La Manga etc.) All individually having very different effects on the squad.

I think this would be unrealistic. How often do you hear it happening IRL? Yes, sometimes they'll train in a warmer climate briefly, but that's borderline gimmick IMO. If a message came up saying "you have a chance to train abroad for £200,000. Yes/no" then perhaps that would be an idea for clubs who play in colder areas (Britain, Germany, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, North France/Italy). It stresses the downside. Training abroad would boost productivity and morale, but maybe allow complacentcy to slip in and would cost a lot of money.

IMPORTANT INTERACTION WITH CLUB CAPTAIN
Your club captain should be the nucleus of the team, the eyes and ears of the manager, and opinions of recent performances/morale and signings should be considered important.

Perhaps. But do you really think any manager cares for his captain's opinion too much? I'd imagine he'd basically echo the fan's feedback.

FANS/MEDIA REACTION TO CHANGING EXISTING CLUB CAPTAIN
Include fans & media reaction to the changing of a club/nation captain.

I think that's a good starting point, but I'd be more interested in what they do when the captain is sold or retired. There should be speculation over who will take the role. It should be the same if the captain is a fringe player or injured for a long time. Your ass man, the media and the fans could all champion a player, maybe a player could come to you representing the squad and suggesting that they favour another player.

TESTIMONIALS
Introduce player testimonials with all proceeds going to charity. Favourite personnel of the player from former/other clubs can be included in the team selection (like a select XI Team)

Testimonials would be great. All proceeds going to charity? What charity? :D Also, I think it should be open to all former team mates, or even legendary players from their nation (Cruyff and Van Basten were up front in Bergkamp's testimonial)

ABILITY TO PAY OFF EXISTING CLUB DEBTS
Include the ability to pay off existing club debts and loans with your transfer funds.

Resounding yes. I had a massive bank balance, but I was still paying off £200k of my debt every month. Why not just pay it all?

COMPENSATION PACKAGES FOR INJURED INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS
Clubs could appeal for compensation with the Nation's FA for players injured on international duty.

Did Newcastle ever get one? How far do you take it too? I'd say it should only trigger for injuries of 3 months or more.

PARACHUTE PAYMENTS & BETTER PROMOTION PACKAGES
Introduce parachute payments for relegated clubs and realistic promotion packages.

Promotion packages are definitely realistic. I think parachute payments are implemented too.

A bit OTT again, but it could potentially be a good feature.

CONGRATULATIONS WINDOW
Include a congratulations/winner's window with a graphic/confetti/fireworks when you win a competition to add a sense of achievement for gamers (definitely needed!) Chairman and fans should have a greater reaction to success (particularly international success).

I'm fine with how it is, but I know others aren't. I'm not sure confetti is the way forward. Maybe occaisional messages if you experience a drop in form? "Fans are behind manager Q because he won the Carling Cup last season".

ATTENDANCE FIGURES
Include attendance graph / figures displaying information regarding both home and away fans.

Most clubs don't do away fans when they announce the attendance. I believe you can check your attendances through the league screen.

Unnessary gimmicks. We can already re-lay the pitch. Kits should be and are chosen on whether they clash. Dieticians and similar- would they take up a coach spot or two? How exactly would they affect morale?

TOUCHLINE BANS FOR MANAGERS
Managers could be given touchline bans by the FA, which would prevent them from making any of the new 'touchline shouts' for a match if they have spoken out about a referee, or acted/commented inappropriately.

Been in for ages.

In a team report...why are there only defenders, midfielders and attackers? I mean what has happened to the GK? Arent they important enough?

You can tell who the best GK is just by looking, there's only one GK!

Play as teams from Cyprus
That's already been announced for the next game.

1. Set Pieces - My set piece taker is Darijo Srna, my RB (FK 18), but sometimes he goes over to the other side of the pitch to take unnecessary FKs that anyone could take, and I would rather my LB, Bale (FK 16) took them. I want for the manager to choose in what positions what player takes the free kick.
2. Manager Objectives - set a longer term plan to win the league, champs league etc with your chairman, it is more realistic (i.e. it might be a rocky first season with man city, but 4 season play to dominate the league)
3. Re-vamp the training aspect of the game - ATM far to simple (e.g. you could set incentives for players if they work hard in training, and players should improve more with regards to what type of training schedule they are on (e.g. luka modric's tacking was the first thing to improve even though his defending training was very low
4. TEACH THE GOALKEEPERS TO PASS IT SHORT - i just can't get them to do this, 80% of the time (despite passing "short" the ball is just booted up there, and i want to instruct a defender to come a get the ball - defensive line deep when starting from the back, even though normally i play a higher line when actually defending)
5. TEACH THEM THE IDEA OF KEEPING THE BALL, even if i had Xavi (passing 20) in my team, i would still want him to pass it short, because I like to keep the ball. In fact I don't care how long the pass is, as long as it is not booted up to the target man willy nilly but passed to a player who is open and in space, so it is still a 95% pass (rarely loses the ball) whether 4 or 40 yards.
6. Injuries - there are just too many (although this was probably corrected on later patches which i don't have)
7. More player interaction - e.g. when a player complains over too much competition for first team place you have the option of challenging him to work harder in training and 'be patient' why can't we add these in, and others such as 'you may be a bench warmer atm, but work hard and next season you will be a star player" or "you and modric are both neck for neck for a first team place, prove yourself" or suggestions from the players about where/how they think they play best "Theirry Henry has come to you saying that he feels he performs better when given a freer role/played upfront not on the wing/asked to dribble often"

most are just minor things, but 4/5 I think are especially important, and i think that 5 could really improve the game if this idea was expanded to other areas

I would also like to see the use of training camps. Also if you are a lower league team i would like to hold say an open day for free players to come along and play a friendly game. and a great touch would be if Glenn Hoddle's football academy was on the game :)

I want to get rid of an annoying bug that I hope that SI is already looking at. It's the one you encounter every time you play a national cup or CHL, when you get to the two-leg stages. Suddenly, instead of having team talk, player attidues etc. from a match-to-match basis (ie. telling them new stuff every time), they switch it so the two games are made into one large game AI-wise. This can be incredibly annoying, especially if you lucked out and won against a better team with a high margin but not high enough to guarantee progression.

That means that players think that when you begin the second leg, you're really only in an extended half-time of the previous match and they think they're dominating the game 3-0 or something. I suddenly can't tell them to go kick the other team's ass or give them any sort of reasonable outlook on the game because I get the same options as if I was ahead with that result in the middle of a match. This usually means my team is ridiculously arrogant in a situation where they shouldn't be and never would be IRL and usually means my team won't even bother to tie their boots before the match.

The most horrifying example of this was when I was actually playing a top team vs another top team in the Italian Cup. I was Inter and I met Fiorentina in the semi-finals. I completely dominated the first match on their grounds and won 3-0 but when it came to the second leg, I was unable to tell my players anything other than I was extremely pleased with the result (the extended half time syndrome), since the other options would demoralise them instantly. The result of telling my team how pleased I was (and then only having those same options in half time when being behind 2-0), was a 4-0 loss.

Needless to say, I was outraged, but I let the result stand either way because there wasn't long until my CHL matches (a tournament I won :D) and my players might as well be rid of all arrogance, just to make sure it would not happen again. But it happens all the time with all teams and you can see it in the fan confidence section for matches. You won't have it listed as Home, Away and Total results, you will have a first match and then a combined result, sometimes resulting in the paradox of the fans want your head on a stake after losing the last leg in the match report but then praising you as the ultimate manager because you made it through combined.

I personally find this to be the worst bug I've encountered because even injuries or general tactical bugs can be solved by buying a larger squad or add some high quality back-ups to the team. This one directly affects team performance in the worst way imaginable because it affects their confidence on the field. It pretty much ruins the second leg before it even began, unless I'm facing opponents so poor that I could steamroll them with my youth team.

I've had a few thoughts about training too. It is such an important part of real football management that it really should have more importance in the game.

1. General Balance
Firstly I like the idea of controlling how much Goalkeeping, Defending, Attacking, Shooting, Fitness, Strength, Technical and Tactical work is done. I don't have a problem with those sliders and they can probably be kept (certainly it would mean that people who didn't want to go into more depth could keep it as it is). In general that would be the first thought of a coach to get the general balance of the training schedule.

2. Routines to be implemented in schedule
After the sliders have been set it should bring up some options about which specific routines are to be implemented. The higher the slider rating the more options are available. For example if you have it set to low maybe there are only 2 possible options of which you can choose 1 (due to limited importance/time of that part of training), but if you chose high maybe you get a choice of 5 or 6 and can choose 2 or 3. For example for fitness if you have it set high maybe you have the choice to choose 'Long Distance running', 'Relays', 'Sprints', 'Agility drills', 'Yoga', 'Pilates'. Then you can choose some of the selections. They will have different effects on stats and also performance in the games. Also the kind of routines you use when developing players (youth) would be different to those with the first team.

3. Implementing training to games
Obviously their will be some improvement to stats, but I don't think all the training routines should just go towards improving the stats of the players. It should also effect the playing characteristics of your players and team. For example if in the Shooting training I had a a 'Shoot on sight' or 'Attack front post' drill then I would expect to see my striker doing more of that in the match. Obviously it would mean that maybe they would make the wrong decision to shoot on sight at times but that would be up to the coach to get the correct routines that suit his/her players and tactics.

4. Different coaches
Currently coaches are now labled by their preferred coaching style and rated accordingly. There is very little difference between one 5 star attacking coach and the next. In reality managers have their preferred coaches and for a reason...they like what they offer in coaching. In order to try to have these different personalities in the coaches I think maybe different coaches could have different coaching routines, which all affect the players slightly differently. For example Les Ferdinand would offer things like 'Aerial play', 'Hold up play', 'Back to goal drills', 'Attack post drill', '6 yard box reaction drill' and would be better at some of those than others. He wouldn't offer drills like link up play, finesse finishing, shooting on sight etc. In that way getting the right coaches in would make a difference to how your team play. This would also get around having to choose all the drills yourself if you chose to only change the sliders, as the coaches would go to their default favourites. Of course these might be your coaches best drills, but not necessarily the ones that suit your tactics or players the best. Maybe youth coaches have a different set of routines that specifically help to develop your young players, or maybe they have a better effect on those players than a regular coach would have.

5. Coaching badges
Also their should be an option for your coaches to go and do FA and UEFA coaching badges. This would improve the coaches and offer them new routines or improvements to existing routines. This would be of great benefit to the club and your players training. Of course the risk is that if your coaches become better qualified then they will be on the radar of better clubs or will demand higher wages when their contract runs out, so the manager has to weigh up the benefits vs. the risks in improving the coaches. Of course if you can afford to improve your coaches then it is a good idea, this is especially useful when developing coaches who were ex-players (which is always fun).

6. Coaching feedback
There should definitely be improved coaching feedback. Currently my players have been training for a month and after a whole month of training I can see that 3 of the players have performed well (what does that mean) and 3 haven't. With certain routines you can have different responses during the monthly report. Such and such has had a good reaction to the fitness training and is looking sharp. Or even random alerts from training, as you get with the 'injured in training', but instead something like 'The link up play in the shooting schedule has had some benefits. Rooney and Berbatov have shown signs of developing a good understanding'. It might not make you choose those players, but it will give a manager some useful insight into what is happening on the training pitch.

S.I have really got to look at enabling managers at big clubs to become Icons. If you win 5 back to back champions leagues, no matter what club you are at, you would be revered by the fans and would be an Icon, or at least a favoured person. The fact that a player can get onto favoured list after a number of months, but a manager who has been hugely successful at a big club for years cant is ridiculous, especially for a management game. If you resign, you shouldn't lose the iconic status, except maybe if you leave in acrimonious circumstances or move to a local rival. Fans should compare the new man to your great era, in ''those days' etc

Also, in the media, if you resign from a club having been successful, the media should compare your successor to you, you should be asked to comment on the clubs progress, speculate on what will happen, players should compare the new guy to you etc. If you are unemployed you should be asked to analyse their match for TV, be a pundit etc newspaper interviews.

The game must start to recognise more the great achievements from managers in the game.

Oh and if you leave a club after 10/15 yrs and you go back to view a match at that club as an international manager, the game shouldn't just say England manager so and so is in the stands, more should be made of your return, the directors should issue a welcome greeting, fans should cheer you (if you were popular), anything really to acknowledge that you even existed at the club, let alone brought more silverware to the place than is in the entire Bank of England...

Greater distinction between internal messages and external messages.

I get the impression a lot of communications with my players is happening through the media as if it is the normal way. I'm the manager of my club and it seems the only way I can communicate with the club staff is through the local gazette.

Internal memos and greater impetus on player conversations dealt internally BEFORE they start whining to the media. Tutoring is another example. The message reads like a media report, when really it is just meant to be internal acknowledgement.

Perhaps. But do you really think any manager cares for his captain's opinion too much?

I think so, since the captain is my deputy in keeping a harmony in the team.

Resounding yes. I had a massive bank balance, but I was still paying off £200k of my debt every month. Why not just pay it all?

Isn't it based on how the loans were structured? Total guess here and I may be wrong but even though RA's wealth has protected Chelsea from its debt, the payments are still being made. The plus side is that they're guaranteed. I might be blowing smoke here. :)

Tactics are finally getting a revamp so we're not dependant on sliders. The same should happen for training.

What does it take for me to become an Icon/Legend? I've dominated the competition! Although I guess Calay Arena is enough of a legacy. :)

Transfer/contract negotiations to happen there and then(sort of like Sid Meier's Civilization diplomacy), rather than the rigid back and forth exchange which doesn't really leave room for actual -negotiation-.

I liked a lot of your ideas Beckford, especially the ones that seemed to be small additions that would add more character and variation to the game. Even things that were dismissed as gimmicky like training ground names, fat percentage and the like, would add an extra depth into the variety of messages you would receive.

As far as I understand, the headlines and articles have taken a revamp in the new game with you being able to subscribe to certain leagues etc. to follow those more closely. I agree the press conference should be improved, but I think it was more of a placeholder for FM09 and will definately be one of the things that will be improved. Maybe the improvements to the Assistant Manager will help that. Maybe in the staff meetings they will have a word or two to you about the effects on your squad following the press conferences.

I liked all the ideas about player, captain, fan interaction. The more interaction the better I say (or at least the option of it).

As for what I most hope for in new versions. It was an overhaul on the tactics and training, which seemed dated and in the case of training very limited. They have already changed the tactics system and I can't wait to see how that turns out and I have seen a couple of screenshots with some interesting snippets about 'movement training' and 'defending training' so it would seem that something has happened with that too. Fingers crossed anyway.

In my long term game I've seen Real Madrid accumulate a club wealth of well over £1 billion. Now obviously that can't all be based on the valuation of their players and I discovered they had an extraordinary amount in the bank.

The problem for me is, RM very rarely used their incredible wealth. They did not pursue the best players (In that save file I had probably the most dominant player I've ever had the pleasure of managing in the FM series, he was ignored by every club as if he wasn't worth even enquiring or making an offer for).

We've seen RM pursue the very best even when they don't actually have the money so I must stress the importance that the AI be willing to pay for the top players. Particularly when it concerns newgens. They never seem to buy the absolute best and when they do try, they aren't aggressive enough in acquiring them.

I understand the AI won't want to be willing to pay a certain amount but when they've got the funds to strengthen themselves, they really should use it and not horde it where it is of no use to them.

Zinn

Regarding the loans, you can always pay them back immediately in real life. Imagine owning a house you haven't payed off yet and you were unfortunate enough to buy it just before the market crashed. You're then sitting on a house that's worth much less than the loan you're paying off. Then you win the lottery but are told by the bank you're not allowed to pay for your house. Sounds a bit silly, doesn't it?

The game's financial sides are completely ******** anyway, so although it would be nice to actually pay the debt off, it doesn't really matter in most cases. With my Inter team, I had a transfer budget of 1 billion DKK after 2 seasons. In currency as of today, that's a budget of 117,377,987 GBP or 134,702,660 euro. And that doesn't take into account that I already had virtually the best players in the world on my team and a plus of around 5 million DKK (586,889 GBP/673,513 euro) on my wage budget. Personally, I think that there needs to be less inflation in the financial sectors and that the players' actual value should be somewhat useful. Frankly, no one outside the most obscenely rich (I'm looking at you, Real Madrid) pay much more than what the players are worth and if they do, it usually includes some developing or backup player to switch clubs, so the actual money transfer stays around the player's value.

TOO SELECT A PLAYER ITS TOO EASY IN FM2009 :

Who is saying that the player you want to buy is having 20 in marking, 18 in heading etc : THE SCOUT
So if the Scout is not so good, why we should see the REAL stats.
In fact, the stats of each player should depend on several parameters :
- time for scouting
- the scout performance
- time in club to see the player training, playing after you hire him.
CONCLUSION :
- we should have variance in the stats

Any club can make misatke in hiring players, so FM2011 should inlcude this reality of Player Knowledge

ANOTHER POINT ( IN TRAINING ) :
The stars ( performances indicators ) in training should not exist.
Why to make the system so easy, in reality there is no stars for evaluating the training parformances.
Make the game realistic, it's not not easy to become a football manager !!! ( we want REALITY )

I would REALLY like to see a champions league qualification option when choosing your budgets because the difference between continental qualification (ie. qualifying for europa league) and title challenge is massive. This is especially needed for teams like tottenham, villa and everton where the aim at the start of each season is to break the top 4 and get champions league football (ie. more than just getting continental competition but less than a title challenge.)

Also, having this option would stop the problem you get when you play with teams like Arsenal. The board say they want champions league qualification at the start of the season. However, with your budget options, if you select Continental Qualification should be possible the overall season's minimum expectation drops down to just qualifying for the europa league, something that would seem a failure if achieved by the manager of Arsenal. However, if you then choose Title Challenge from the budget options you have to finish very close to the leaders to not come under pressure...therefore, either have it so when you select continental competition from the budget choices, the season's aim remains at champions league footaball and does not drop to just europa league, or introduce a champions league qualification option in the budget choices....

Any thoughts?

In FM2009, the hidden stats are interesting but it's not enough, as when you hire the player, you see the player stats as it is in fact as he entire the club.
So as in reality, a manager can make a mistake and this mistake can be discover after months.
It will be a big evolution to create this dynamic stats of each new player in evaluation by the scout.
The knowledge of each player depend on time and the staff performance.
The real stats should appear after maybe 6 months, slowly slowly with experience and time.
If you decide to scout a player for 6 months you will know better a player but you take the risk that another club will hire him before you, so it will be more exciting.

THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE.

You can basically do this by switching on the 'fog of war' option.

Not sure what exactly it's called (perhaps it is "attribute masking"?), but you select this when starting a new game and all stats are hidden for players unless you could reasonably be expected to know them.

So, Ronaldo's stats would be available to you because everyone will have seen him play on TV, but a 16year old in a different country with no international experience will have his stats hidden. To uncover his stats you will either have to scout him (with a more accurate view of his stats being revelaed the more you scout him), play a match against him or wait until he becomes more 'famous' (if he ever does).

I'd also like to see more non-financial negotiation/discussion when signing players. Currently the only non-financial negotiation point is squad status but I'd like this to be expanded to things like:

* Playing position . You could tell a versatile player that you are signing him to play as a striker, and he can tell you where he would prefer to play.
* Future prospects (when signing youngsters). You both tell each other how long before you expect 1st team action.
* Ambitions for club. For instance, this would have been a major part of the discussions Notts County had with Sol Campbell recently.

I'm sure there's loads more but in summary I'd like more football-related discussion to happen so both sides (us as managers, and the AI players) can decide if it's the right move to make.

I agree, but it means, anyway, finally, you don't make mistake because you will have the right stats, even if your scout staff is really bad.
I wanted to add the risk of mistake after buying the player, where you will not be sure during 6 months about his real statistiques, beacause you did scout him properly ( time, staff competences ).

Yes, but if you scout a player with hidden stats, the stats that come up after scouting are his 'true' stats. I think what mighty mind was getting at was that the stats that come up should be 'in the view' of the scout. So in actual fact depending on the quality of the scout the initial stats may be plus of minus 4 (just as an example of the range) so a guy with passing 15 could show up as 11 to 19. Obviously the better the scouting and the more times scouted the smaller the range.

Also if your scout sees a player in a blinder his stats may be way higher than reality from first viewing. I think that is the jist and I really like the idea personally. Would even do it for well known players, so you don't see there stat improvements unless you play them or have them looked at, i.e. they will be the player you imagine them to be rather than what they truly are.

Really nice ideas. I like them a lot.

I would like to be able to get full scout/coach reports on players I have loaned out. Right now, by scouting them, you can get match reports, but you don't get any of the full ability/potential (with stars) until they return to the club.

Hope this idea will be taken serously by Miles and his team as it's not a revolution but a philosophy changement. We will go more deeply in real management.
Miles, please tell me at least what you think about this idea.:):):)

I do like the idea, it would certainly make finding players a lot more interesting than the current filter for the players with the best stats method. I don't know how easy it would be to program and it might take quite a lot of toying with to get it right. Also I guess there would be plenty who wouldn't like it, but I guess they could have a toggle for it like they do with player masking.

The good thing about SI mightymind is that if you make a suggestion in this thread then they will definately read it and it will certainly be discussed as a suggestion for future versions. There was a very interesting blog entry from Miles where he told that SI had meetings for all 800 suggestions leading into FM10, many of which have gone into the game.

It will definitely be taken seriously.

The problem, as I see it, with this idea is how far do you take it? Let's say you scout a player for a month and you are given dynamic stats for him, when you sign him do you then see his real stats? That wouldn't make sense because on his first day he hasn't even trained with you, so how can all of a sudden you know his real stats?

Let's say that upon signing him you don't see his real stats but still see the dynamic ones, that again presents a couple of problems.....1) if his dynamic stats are based upon the ability of the scouts then different scouts will give different dynamic stats, so when you sign him which stats do you see on the player profile? 2) Once at the club then surely the dynamic stats you see will need to be determined by the coach's ability, so you're left with a situation where you never know his real stats.

Personally, I don't like the idea (sorry), and hope this is never introduced. I think SI have the right balance with the fog of war for those who want scouting to be harder.

When the player is in your team, you should continue to see the "evaluated" stats for for example 6 months, not the real at once, OF COURSE ( there is no use otherwise )
Or slowly the evaluate stats should reach monthly till the real stats.
The aim is to integrate risk of hiring wrong player because of your staff wrong performance and time of scouting, as it's happened in reality.
But, it should be easy and progressively done to reach the real stats.
I'm not telling that will be easy to create, but it should be easy to use it and ressemble to the reality.
Many player are using with hidden stats, or no, we can include this option even for player who wants more realism in there game.

You are right, it's not easy, but maybe we can use what exists already :
- the hidden stats should remain hidden even after having the player in the team ( monthly, the real stats will appear by step of 5 for example )
- we should justify our purchase only with the written report of the scouts, but this report should be more detailed ( phisical appriciation, shooting, mentaly, with maybe some range of important stats ) in order to give you all the elements to decide to buy.
So it will be more realistic and not complicate to create.
What I mean is : buying a player is not A+B, there are human parameters as your own feeling, your trust in your staff, his competences, and of course time and experience of player knowledge.
After a season the real stat will be complete and you can than fire your stupid scout or give him big promotion !

FM is based on reality, so improve this is logical in my opinion ( at the present time, you have money and any stupid scout, you can hire the best team of the world ! )
Give more responsability to our scout, this what I meant ( What is their use in FM exept confirming what you already know by seeing the real statsn after one time scouting )
Really try to ask yourself if in reality, is there any club which is having a data of each player whixh will be the same in another club ! No, it's depend on each club and its staff.

Thanks !

When creating a savegame with fictional players, FM should create a new world full of newgens, instead of not so well disguised regens. It completely spoils the fun for me of playing with fictional players the fact that all the players are just a replica of the original players with a different name, sometimes country and age.

Saw this one earlier, but thought it warranted repeating - being able to cancel a substitution between hitting "Confirm" and the switch taking place. Injuries sustained, or goals scored/conceded in that little waiting period might totally change your mind about the sub you're about to make.

Also - one game recently I had 2 players go off with serious injuries (red) and 2 more received mild injuries (yellow). I HATE to play on with an injured player, since it always seems to result in a lay-off, so I subbed the first, but couldn't do anything about the second. Of course, he was then out for a few weeks. We should be able to withdraw even a mildly injured player and play on with 10 men if necessary.

There was a poll on here about how many users played with the sound on or off, and most played with it off. It's probably been deleted now. Also, adding chants (even just club names repeated to a popular tune) would take ages.

The reason IMO why players choose to turn off the sound is because it is, in its current format, awful and unlistenable - NOT because they don't want to hear sound. At least, that's the reason why I have it turned off and I'm sure I'm not alone.

However, sounds are a very important component of a game simulation, but seems to be severely under-rated in the FM community. Ideally, I would like the sounds to be similar to EA's FIFA series. When I listen to the game and close my eyes, I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm in the game. My biggest criticism towards FM is that there's no feel to the game - In terms of preparing for the match and being in the middle of the match, a BSP fixture doesn't feel any different from the CL final. Realistic sounds would go a long way to fix that problem, at least in terms of crowd noise levels.

As it's been noted, the sounds need to be set-up in three ways:

1. crowd levels (50k vs. 25k vs. 5k vs. 500)

2. Cultural reactions: Although chants don't have to be club-specific, they should note a difference between English crowds vs. French crowds vs. Italian crowds vs. Brazilian crowds vs. American crowds, etc. Again, this is something that EA's FIFA games does fairly well.

3. Better reaction to in-game events. Booing/whistling, applause should all be tied to goals, cards, injuries, etc.

I know Miles has said this is low priority for them at the moment, but if they want to push the visual realism of the game with the 3D match engine, they should also consider pushing the audio realism with equal importance. I will not rest until this gets addressed. :)

Re the bit I've bolded, you can take off an injured player and play with 10 men. Go to tactics, substitute the mildly injured player off as you would do normally, and you'll see a message pop up saying something like "you can't make any more subs as you already made 3. However, player x appears to be injured, would you like to take him off and play with 10 men"

-Finances - Would like to be able to be kept up to date with merchandise sales in the news screen once a month like which numbers and names are selling the best and what countries shirts are selling in so you can arrange tours in the countries you are not yet selling in to break into new markets, for example a news item could read Man Utd shirts have sold out across certain states in north America today after a sucessful pre season tour which saw United beat certain teams(team name) with certain players (player name) catching the eye of supporters in the states, also you could have certain players shirt sales go up after say getting the highest average rating in a season or after the world cup or a euro tournement or champions league or even locally after a good cup run for lower league teams their shirt sales go up in their area gaining more supporters.

-Press- Would like press conferences when you sign players to basically state your intentions of what purpose you think the player signed will have at the club for example if he will be in the reserves for a while untill he adjusts to the style and culture of football in your country or if he will be straight into the first team and you will be expecting performances as soon as possible.

I would also like to see the password protect system properly implemented so the host can't log in and check out what tactic you are using etc. As things stand, whatever password you put in can be overridden by typing in "sportsinteractive". What the hell is he point in that??

I would like it if you can view the graphs in the finances section by year/season. Currently the graphs are based on month but I would like the option to switch this to a view by season.

The only indication you currently have of how finances are changing by season is the last two columns in the table which show 'this season' and 'last season', however I don't think this is particularly helpful as you are comparing a partially completed season with a fully completed season.

Reposting my topic from GD here as I didn't know of this thread. Thanks CrashOverrride for reminding me.

With the current European requirement and soon-to-be English requirement for home-grown players, can we incorporate a new search key for home-grown players? It could be like

Search key:
'Home-grown status' is

Options:
> Trained at club (for inclusion of own players)
> Trained at current nation
> Within <number of> days (for 'nation' players)

We can also include the status (already 'club' or 'nation'; days to 'home-grown') under the same section as 'days to gain nationality'.

It would be much easier to search for specific players to meet the quota then.

Why not to have some few short videos of the players playing football ( camera on him mostly ) and to confirm the decision to buy him, as many manager are doing in real.
Videos which will show clearly his main performances and confirm the scout's report.
For me, you don't need to see the stats ( can remain hidden ) , scout report and few videos will be more realistic to decide to buy.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I would like to see my youngsters more willing to go out on loan. I get very fed up when they reject loan deals with my affiliated clubs when they would benefit them greatly because if in real life the manager says you should go out on loan to this club, I don't think they would say no over and over again.

Also you should be able to recommend a certain team to go on loan to if they are considering several at once.

posted this in another 3d,maybe it fits better here..

i was thinking..why is not possible training someone for single stats?you know,if you train defence you should improve tackling, marking etc..
but, let's say i've got a strong regen with 20 tackling and 5 marking (and, sadly, this often happens)..i should be able to say him "learn marking!" and leave alone tackling..
so,if i've understood how it works, the sum of all attributes should depend from the CA..and if i'm correct, here's my suggestion..do larger sliders, and do a slider for all the training stats in the game..
this is my suggestion, making an easy and semplified example..i've got John Smith,16 years old, striker, who has 20 in heading,19 in finalizing, passing, great (over 16) mental attributes..but he has 7 in speed,8 in acceleration and 5 in elevation.
consider only this stats as existing,it should go like this:

finalizing------from 1 to 50 set to 5
heading-------from 1 to 50 set to 5
passing-------from 1 to 50 set to 10
speed---------from 1 to 50 set to 40
acceleration--from 1 to 50 set to 40
elevation------from 1 to 50 set to 45

considering maybe that from 1-20 it's a light training, from 21 to 40 is a medium and 41-50 is hard..circa as it's now..then,the sum of ALL the sliders should give to us the general weight of the training..and i think it would be cooler (and needed) if my coaches could tell me how this kind of work ratio impacts on the player..considering i have one coach for specific training area, should go like this:

pavel nedved thinks that 5/50 in finalizing could slowly decrease john smith's strenght in this area
johan neskeens thinks that 10/50 in passing could very slowly decrease john smith's strenght in this area
valter di salvo thinks that 45/50 in elevation could fastly increase john smith's streght in this area
valter di salvo thinks that 40/50 in acceleration could have no real effect for john smith

and so on..obviously,the best the coaches the best the advices would be.so a list of seven star coaches could really give you perfectly an overall idea of the quantity and quality your team is..
and also it is obvious that mental attributes (determination,i think) will affect the work ratio..in my example, the same schedule could be very hard for john smith if he has 6 in determination, could be hard if he has 14 and could be medium if he has 18..

hope my bad english won't affect the reading and comprehension..

Have a lot of ideas, been a long-time player of the game since the 97/98 edition... I will start off by stating some of the basic features I want that I think are realistic additions for the next version.

As it stands long-term games are impossible, there is no sense that you have left your touch as a manager etc.

-Add more scales to reputation, so you can see your player's ability rise and be recognised, you can judge his progress and performances accordingly. Regional, National, Continental, World Class are not enough... There should be at least 10 different types of reputation.

-Don't know if this has been implimented, but get 'experience points' as player by playing in major competitions, particularly the Champions League, World Cup, European Championship. That way, signing an experienced centre-back who is ageing but has played a lot in the CL will be good for a club, let's say, which qualifies for CL first time ever and needs players with experience from continental competitions. Otherwise, let playing in such competitions increase key mental attributes such as composure, decisions etc.

-Each club should have two extra labels under 'Information' that should be something along the likes of 'Media Pressure' and 'Supporter Expectations'. Therefore, in Greek Superleague, the top 3 big teams will have very high media pressure, whilst 6-7 clubs will have 'low' or 'minimal' and this should be reflected in the exposure you get by media (the WHOLE media system is currently useless)... For example, as manager of a lower league Greek 1st Division Club, few of your games would be televised and watched by football fans... Every time you play the 'big 3 teams' maybe you can have a news item with some indication of how your team was perceived to have played...

Example:
Olympiacos' fans praised Levadiakos on online forums and discussions for their counter-attacking ability. They were particularly impressed by Player x's runs with the ball.

Journalists commented after the Panathinaikos - Levadiakos game about the away team's disciplined defensive play, leaving few gaps for opponent attacks.

Basically, having a system where clicking one of four/five response options and having it affect your squad is not a good system to have as FM doesn't have the technology I believe to adapt its effects in a realistic way. Rather, SI Games should focus on making us immerse in the gameworld more by showing us more details from our current game...

Example again:
-Levadiakos midfielder Player Y has been listed as one of top 5 wingers in the Greek League by a former Greece international.

-Levadiakos centre-back duo is being heralded as one of top 3 in the Greek League according to a national sports newspaper article today.

-Olympiacos fans jeered the players after their 0-0 home draw to Kavala.
-Olympiacos fans jeered the players & the manager after their second consecutive draw, 1-1 away to AEK.

-Many Panathinaikos fans are upset that manager Y continues to not offer Sotiris Ninis a chance to play regular first-team football. Given the current midfielders available, many supporters believe Ninis has what it takes to cement a place in the first-team, as a player of his technique and flair is sorely lacking.

My main gripe is how hard it is to loan your youngsters out to other clubs for experience. One example I had this German regen striker who was pretty good, he was 17 and was already capped at senior level. I tried offering him out to clubs multiple times with a pay 0% of players wages deal, no offers at all. I have a lot of unfulfilled young talent wasting away due to this, I can only give so many youngsters a chance in the first team :(

It would be a good addition to be able to see who´s unhappy with his training schedule and who´s not in the Full Player Status. It can be a little frustrating to browse through each and every player to see if he´s happy with the training or not.

Also when an opponent's player, say full-back, picks up a yellow card there could be OI-instructions for your winger to always try to go past him in an attempt to get him sent-off. Might have been mentioned before though..

Im not sure if this has already been mentioned, but i would love to see the option to let a player talk to another club before you have agreed a price for them. I often have the problem of big teams offering low amounts for my best players. That way you can let the disgruntled player get on with contract negotiations whilst you negotiate a price with the club. it happens all the time in real life so i dont understand why it isnt in the game

A nice addition would be if player morale could drop or increase when a signing after the transfer window has closed. If a world-class signing has been made maybe some players would be ´excited´ that Player X is joining the club. Looking forward to playing with Player X. Worried that Player X will steal all attention, etc, etc.

The possibility to comment a tactic.
I mean when I have to save/load a tactic I have tons of 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 with just team name and a date as description. It will be useful to have a comment/description box the user can fill. In the tactic screen or in the load/save tactic pop-up screen doesn't bother.

A little logic (and more "life") in manager transfers.
If I buy a player with future transfer at the end of the season and in the meanwhile I change team, it's not deserve of the manager that come next.
And I'd like to have the possibilty to agree to go to another team at the end of the season (in FM it's done bad, most of the time the chairman wants your head...) and to begin to do player transfers for that team before 1st July (which is totally illogic)

***
And I don't like how hidden mental stats (personality) appears.
If a player is "quite determined" I can see it in the determination stat.
If a player si "quite ambitious" and I want to know if he's professional or not, I can't find it, why? It's not logic, I'm the manager who trains it every day and I don't know if he's professional or not...

Personally, I don't like the idea (sorry), and hope this is never introduced. I think SI have the right balance with the fog of war for those who want scouting to be harder.

Think about it, what is the difference between a scout who can judge a player and a scout who can't?
It's not logic that a scout comes to me and says "I don't know if that player is fast or not" after he played 90 minutes and ran 10km, or he tells me "oh that's a wonderkid, dribbling 20 etc..." on 30th July.
The difference between scouts is in giving the right values to players, not in giving it or not giving it. Someone can sold me Kuranyi as the best target man of the world, someone can say that Owen is an ex-player that doesn't run anymore, someone can tell me that Buffon is the best gk of the world but in penalties is crap.
I mean: if ask to some of you something about Luis Fabiano and Anelka we'll have different point of view, this is how it should be in scouting.
And why not start thinking of having some specialist-role scouts or a kind of head scout?

Hi all Manager fans,

Been playing for many years now - since 93 actually and i like the way the game has developed. Media, finances etc. Some guys just want to load a standard tactic and put the game on auto pilot. But most of us want more and S.I Games are letting us dive more and more into the "real manager world" season after season. Great. The more detailes the better. We like to personalyze our teams and the way we play. Who hasnt tried to copy Wengers pass and move tactic from real life Prem or The Barca romantic atacking game mentality...? It looks like in FM10 my demands are being fulfilled. However I want more...

Here a couple of suggestions for improvements;

1. know(09) you have 3 choices of comments to another manager as a taunt/friendly acktion. Eighther negative, neutral or positive. This no matter if you are world class or a complete newbie.

Why not have a skill based "war of words" in the media like Fergie, Wenger and Benitez - not to forget Mourinho in the jolly good days of Chelskiy.

Remember the game Monkey island(1) where the outcome of a swordfight duel was destined by the trashtalk you gave the opponent and if the opponent was left with no answer due to him being a rookie trash talker. You could easely adapt this to FM...

If you start as a rookie manager and played 3 seasons getting involved with media battles with rival managers througout the seasons and you being "promoted" to continental manager... you would over the seasons have adapted more and more manager comments and the best responses. Say you where Gillingham and where tho face Man U. in the cup one year - you could trash talk Ferguson(get crushed) but then have adapted his verbal media talents. Pick up outbursts who will leave opponents players nailbiting and playing nervously if low mental attributes.

Above also allowes another profile rating(ex. Club/player loyalty etc.): You could name it media handling... Mourinho: 20 - Mark Stimson: 3

2. Experience is needed in the higher leagues as managers. My suggestion are that the more experienced you get in the game the more knowledge you pick up - Hence the more options being available(tactics/media). Starting as a rookie with coaching license step 1 with a number of tactical formations available example: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-4-1-1 etc.. as you get more experienced you could get better and better licences and receive more and more options available.

Of course not all are willing to progress from "the bottom/beginning" as a Rookie manager - They will have the oppertunity to choose "Past experience" as in FM09 example international footballer - unlocking continental manager reputation and thus more options. Maybe also adding the choice Manager legend - enabling the full package.

I really hope you guys out there can forgive my foreign English writing. I am from Denmark and doesnt really want to go throug gramma and stuff. I think you understand.

Hope to receive some feedback...

I would quite like it if a download is made available, and if you buy it, it makes the game up to date in terms of which division clubs are in, which club players are playing for etc.

E.G. Someone buys fm 2010, and in 2011, wants to keep the features of 2010, but update all the divisions and clubs, so basically everything is not a year old. They would buy the download, wheras at the moment, if you want all the recent transfers, you would have to buy the next available game.

A few small tweaks here:

1. When viewing the player career history, rather than just seeing his league appearances, goals, assists etc. I would like to be able to see all his competitive appearances, goals, assists etc. Would it be possible to have a 'View' button in the top right hand corner (like the one on the 'Form' screen), where I can select one from a list of options which might say 'All competitive/League/F.A. Cup*/League Cup*/EURO Cup/Champions League/All domestic cup combined/Continental combined' please?

2. A source of frustration to me at the moment is the "auto-assign coaches" button. As you know, each area of coaching requires a combination of specific attributes (i.e. Defending needs high ratings in Defending and Tactical coaching). I get very annoyed when I sign a new coach, and auto-assign his coaching responsibilities, only to find that because he's also good at fitness training, he's now helping out my two Fitness Coaches, and not doing any defensive coaching.

Therefore, I would like to see the option to sign a coach as a defensive/attacking/technique coach (as I already can for Goalkeeping and Fitness). Possibly then use the "auto-assign" button to distribute the general coaches around the other areas of coaching as required.

3. A tiny GUI tweak here I guess. When viewing either the 'Best XI' screens or the 'Team-talk feedback' screen, it is possible to sort the players depending on their total appearances, goals or average rating (Best XI screen) or reaction (Team Talk feedback screen). However it is then impossible to go back to having them sorted in the GK, DR, DL, DC, DC, MR, ML, MC, MC, ST, ST order (using a 4-4-2 as the example). I'd like to be able to sort them back this way please.

Something like discussed here

http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?p=3280209

or something different?

I was wondering instead, why not to put in the AI of the players, by default, to bring the Opponents to weaker foot and having eventually to say different?

Very similar, but not in the style of press conferences. Instead the current contract offer screen should include more options.

At the moment we have Squad Staus, Salary, Contract Length and Bonuses. Each of which by default show what the player wants.

I propose there should be further drop-down filters for new areas (and again each of this will by default show what the player wants).

So, for instance, there could be a drop-down filter for "Preferred Playing Position", and the options could be:

* No preference
* Any Accomplished
* Any Competent
* Specific Position

Also, if the squad status is set as hot prospect or youngster then there could be a drop-down filter called "Expected Progression into 1st Team", and the options could be:

* Within a year
* 1-2 years
* 3-4 years
* 4 + years

I hope this makes sense, I'm pretty sure drop-down filters could be designed for most non-financial issues that occur during transfer talks. They key to this will be making sure it's all in one screen (i.e. the current 'contract offer' screen, which should be renamed to 'player negotiation').

I'm thinking of something (filter search? String text while dealing with transfer?) for searching/signing "players eligible in EU competition in your team".

I have a simple idea, why not have an area in your manager profile where you can select a new language to learn? So you can learn the language before you get to the country you want to manage in.

This could also have a knock on effect if you are linked to a job aboard. It could make the fans hate you and may speed up your exit out of the club or it could put you in a better posistion to by players from that nation as you can speak their language and they won't have as much difficulty adjusting to life in a new country.

Any thoughts?

An idea from something I´ve just experienced. In the Championship with Southport and Portsmouth came in for my star striker bidding £7.5m and the board accepted (his reputation was continental so I guess it was time for him to leave anyway...). I don´t mind. However the board also accepted a bid for my playmaker and still wants me to achieve a top half finish. These two players are and have been instrumental for the team for 4-5 years and there is no way I can replace them. Would it be a good idea to see the board lower their "league-finish-demands"? Afterall I didn´t decide myself to sell them, they did, and I shouldn´t be forced to take the cosequences.

I think they way it is now FM is pretty much the best it can get. I'd also like lots of interaction and the ability to do something else than managing numbers and stats but even as it is the game might be too complex for its own good. I can't say I'm as experienced a player as some here but in 5 years of playing FM I'm still shocked when I find out some minuet stat or some other small detail has a massive impact on gameplay.

Still I think two things need addressing immediately:

- The finances in the game are just simply poor. You have virtually no control over them. You can either not spend the transfer budget, wait for the board to give you the ability of setting up commercial links or keeping the wage bill down. As I've mentioned in another topic this is simply poor. When you buy players worth MILLIONS of euros after many seasons in the game it just seems logical to me that if you're playing a LL club you should be able to at least adjust ticket prices. I also think you should be given a choice of sponsorship and a better feedback on what exactly you can do to get better sponsorships. The changes shouldn't be massive but still they should exist in order to give you better control over finances.
- Adaptive league standards are A MUST! I just don't get it why this has been so long delayed. If a league ends up sending 4 clubs in ECC competitions why is the league standard still 12 or 14? This is the primary concern. Implementing some decent way of advancing the living standards in countries would also be important. India for example is a 3rd world (or developing) country in the game... and it stays that way for 40 years!

IRL managers have virtually no control over finances. There's not a single manager alive who sets the ticket prices for his club or decides who the sponsors are.

If anything, the game gives you too much control (if you want to compare with real life) as not many mangers are personally involved in transfer negotiations and contracts for new players. Similarly, if a real life club wanted to set up a commercial link with a club I seriously doubt the manager would get final choice of the club, I actually doubt whether he'd have any say in it whatsoever.

Agreed that not many managers have financial control and that few managers ever actually call the shots on transfers but I also don't really think clubs will spend 20 million euros on players and then keep 50 euro cent ticket prices.

So I guess it would be a matter of improving finances in the game more than making it more interactive for the user.

Scouting suggestions :

The excellent scout ( to be defined ) will give you in 2 weeks ( to be defined ) :
- the full scout report
- the real stats

A worst scout will give you in 2 weeks :
- a small report
- hidden attributes

A bad scout will give you after 2 weeks more ( 2nd trip ) :
- a full report
- hidden stats

A bad scout will give you after 2 weeks more ( 3rd trip ) :
- a full report
- real stats

A normal scout will give you after 4 weeks ( 1 trip ) :
- a full report
- real stats

So the risk exists :
-you wait and another club buy the player
- you buy the player after 1 trip and you will get or no surprises ( attributes appears )

This is my idea to make it simple and keep the attributes as it is right now !

It's right at the top of the page under the heading 'Suggestions for future versions'.

I think that the wishlist could be better organised. It should maybe be a list that only someone from SI or Sega are allowed to edit, with a basic sentence and a link to a thread that discusses the topic in more detail. For example.

* Being able to give better options in contract negotiations (buying players) ---- (Link to thread here)
* Ideas for game atmosphere/fan behaviour ---- (Link to thread here).
* Ideas for more info in manager profile ---- (Link to thread here)

When someone creates a thread with a suggestion, someone from SI adds it to the list, and posts a link to that thread so that you can discuss ideas on it.

That way we wouldn't have to weed through hundreds of pages going back to early 2008 to see if it's been mentioned/discussed before. It would also stop clutter in the thread and jumping from one idea to the next.

Wishlist - Reserves - simple one this

1. I would like ability to pick a reserve team, to ensure the players I want to develop/get match fitness get a game without having to manage the reserve team during the game.

2. On FM08 if you make first teamers "available for reserves" but then manage the reserves yourself, these players aren't available - you have to transfer them to the reserve squad which may affect morale - seems to be a mistake - hopefully fixed in 09 / 10.

One minor bug in commentary on 08 (which was also in 06) - if a player fouls an opponent it often says that the player who commited the foul was obstructed - again hopefully now fixed.

looking forward to 2010 which I have just ordered

Why are you talking about FM08?

Anyway if the Wishlist was stickied it would give it even more publicity. I completely ignore the top of the page tbh and just scroll down to the threads so I'd forgotten about that link at the top. The wishlist definitely needs to be more structured to make it far easier to navigate and draw ideas from. At the moment it's just a random jumble of ideas which I suspect SI just ignore because they can't be bothered sifting through it. This thread is just to make SI seem as though they take on board the fan's views. They might do but only when there are massive threads that are given much support and publicity.

SCOUTING IMPROVEMENT FOR MORE RELAITY AND STRESS :

I think the solution for keeping the same principe of attributes ( to keep the fun of course ) will be considering that :
- a scout ( any one ) will have the complete infos and attributes after many scouting times ( 3-5 )
- each trip for scouting should take a long period ( 2-3 weeks ) in order to increase the stress ans patience pb.
- each report will increase the report and make appear slowly some attributes ( randomly or no ? )
- the best is the scout, the more attributes will appear quickly and better will be the report.
- and to add a small summary video of few matches of the player where the camera should be on him ( to judge by yourself )
- at the end of scoutings, the attributes should appear as it is now with full report.

In this way, the scout is usefull, and you get more stress, more realism, with the same fun.
My philosophy is : if you have a good scout you will get quickly want the player is real ( than you decide to buy or not ) , a worst one will get the same infos, but it will take more time ( wait more or take the risk by seeing yourself the video and some uncomplete infos. )
Waiting for your suggestions for this please.

DIFFERENT THINKING OF TRAINING SYSTEM : DREAM OR NOT ?

See this web site : sorry it's in french but imagine this in Fm training :
- tactical exercices ( left of the site )

Almost 200 types of diffrent exercices for a real manager to create.

Imagine that you can create your own excercice among 200 of them !!!
A full data base of 200 or more different exercices to choose and plan 10 of them every week in function of what you want and the next match and your philosophy of training?

Yes, the current system is based on this, but if you want a specific train on "dribble" or on "taking space" etc.., you are blocked.
A full database of all the training in the world in FM ( maybe 500 I don't know exactly ) , and than you choose what you want "exactly" for a specific player in a very specific "micro-area".
It will be total different than other game and you do what you want ( it's SI philosophy ).

Thanks.

Now, I'm not sure if anyone has already suggested these things, but here goes anyway;

The ability to talk to subs to motivate them before bringing them on (at times other than halftime) would be great, far too often you've made sure your lads are up for the game through the general team talks and you bring a sub on who doesn't quite care. If you could motivate him with a 'you can make the difference' or 'have faith' before you bring him on during the 75th minute it would be good.

On a similar note we should also be able to talk to players during breaks of the game (eg when the players come to the sidelines for a drink) to try and motivate them (relax and play your game) and/or give them specific instructions (tell MC to play through balls to AML if opposing DR is a fool). This would be useful especially in the first half because you don't necessarily want to make a change before halftime, but if you have a player who isn't performing you get stuck into a bit of a corner, maybe it would be better to try and lift the player's spirits and give them a chance.

I feel the training should make more of a difference to a player's ability and their style of play - especially in the development of young players. This would allow you to breed specific types of players (eg creative DMC who scores long shots) as well as work on players who might be brilliant at some things but severely deficient at others (eg a 16 yr old winger with 17 for technique but 8 for pace)

If the opposition instructions could be automated somehow (ie you have an opposition instructions page with your general tactics which stays constant and then you can add one or two things during each game) because add opp. instructions every game is pretty tedious.

The last thing on my mind would be some way to load a save game from fm2009 in fm2010, this would allow you to keep going with a team that you built from the ground up with all of the new features in fm2010. I can imagine that there are difficulties with the new and old databases but maybe some sort of system where you use the database in the save game while updating any major personnel changes that are present in the fm2010 database. I just finished building my team with Napoli, I'd like to enjoy it haha.

Also, big up the new tactics system, especially the way you can give players specific roles like trequartista or box to box and stuff like that. I just hope that it makes a big difference in the way that they actually play.

Just imagine that in function of your club training facilities and budget, your board asks you in the beginning of the season to choose among the database of 500 training exercices 20-30 of them to apply for the half season. It would be great to be abble to do that !
After January, the board can ask you to update your choice according to your performance.
This is my dream !!!

One new feature I'd really like to see is the option to mutally terminate a contract of a player who in January signs with another club as his contracts up in June.

I often have one or two players rotting in the reserves, who then get picked up in January by foreign clubs because they can offer them contracts. Once a contract is signed, all the player contract options disappear so I have to continue to pay that player for another six months even though he's leaving at the end of the season and is just rotting away in my reserve team.

Given he will probably have rejected mutual termination (I always offer) prior to spending months in my reserves, I'm sure if given the option again after signing for a new team he would agree to mutally terminate his contract.

I'd like Directors of Football to have more of a role, as they do IRL now.

Sometimes, your chairman can appoint one who he chooses. In this instance, the chairman will outline what the DoF is responsible for. As a new(ish) manager, you can like it or lump it.

Or, if you are established at a club, he can give you a list of names and you can choose one. Here, the role of the DoF is to be negotiated with the chairman.

Or, you should be able to request one. If you have been at a club and done well for a while, you should be able to specify who. In this case, you yourself outline what you want a DoF for (eg: u18 player recruitment, training facilities overhall, overall transfer control, negotiate new contracts with existing players etc).

Think this would add a good realistic dimension to the game

It would be good, I agree, but remember that DoF>Manager.
So Director of Football is your chief, you're not his chief.
DoF choose the manager, it's not the manager that choose DoF!
Giving a more active role to DoF means having less freedom as a manager and since I read of people angry because "chairman accepted a bid for a player"...it's not easy. Sure you can ask more interaction (seen as something like backroom mettings in FM10)

On the contrary, the only reason a player would accept mutual termination is to have the opportunity to get a new club asap. If he's already got a contract set up then why should he give up 6 months of salary? Makes no sense.

I bought this Irineu player from lower division into Perugia, made him the top scorer there. The Player then listed as favoured personnel of the team and he listed me as his ONLY favourite personnel.

Then, after 8 seasons, I move to Spain to Atletico Madrid. Then Lady luck don't smile on Irineu anymore. He literally rot in bench, well, he even barely made the bench, because i think Rafa Benitez my successor don't really like him. To make thing worse, no club even interested in buying him. No club unless Atletico Madrid, the club managed by his mentor.

Offered higher salary, key role, and guess what ? He simply reject. That is extremely unrealistic. TBH, I don't think how SI can fix this.

I think a good idea for player/media interaction would be a player getting in trouble off the pitch and the manager either supporting the player or condoning his actions to the media, and behind closed doors try and help the player or ship him out of the club.

Just think of David Bentley drink driving or the Paul Merson drug addiction and alcoholism these would be great features to add, and would help towards man management stats.

i don't like the fact fan calls in if u beat the weaker teams 2-0, 3-0 and say its a poor win, In real life, its not possible to trash every weak 5-0, 6-0 there are times with a small win or even draw. Hope SI can sort that out.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but the assistant managers recommendation when you offer a contract to a player should reflect his knowledge. As it is now, your assistant manager has knowledge of all players in the whole wide world since he can make a recommendation, which is unrealistic. It would be more realistic if the assistant manager tells you that he doesn't know anything about this player and can't make a recommendation.

This is a very important change. It is too easy to go through many foreign clubs and and look at the players and offer contract. If the assistant manager says "Sign at any cost" you know it is likely he is a good player. Especially if you are playing a lower league side.

Firstly I'm sorry I don't have the time to read all 49 pages, so this may have been posted before.

I'd like to be able to have the Assistant Manager know what postion I want to play any player in. For example;

In my Colo Colo game I have a player who is a natural defender, but has the stats to be a midfield dynamo. He is only accomplished at playing there however. In the assistants team report he constantly lists this player as one of my top two centrebacks when I've never played him there and have 4 other players for that role instead.

It would be a good way of making the Player/Assistant/Coaching staff interaction better if you could specify where you feel a certain player will play.

I know it's not really necessary; but how about a music player being integrated into the game; and synergised with in-game events.

For example; if our team scores a goal, you could set it up with a playlist for songs like 'Thunderstruck'; and have a different playlist to choose from if we concede; are up by a fair way; or in the backgrounds browsing around.

Again, I know it's not a necessary feature for the game, I just think it would be pretty neat.

An idea that might be possible to implement is the personality of a manager. This could help human managers out during matches maybe. By checking a manager´s profile, you could get a grip on what he is like both on and off match. This could be split into categories maybe.

Often makes double substitutions
Makes early substitutions
Plays long-ball football
Plays possession football
Likes one of his forwards to drop deep
Likes to adjust his tactics to opponent´s tactics
Media-friendly

etc etc...

Might have been mentioned before though :)

Has probably been on the list before, but for future versions it would be nice to see players (high-profile?) demand (internal or external) new signings to improve the squad. This could unsettle players if you fail to bring in new players or upper their morale if you succeed. If you do manage to get in new high-profile players players could try and perform better in training and during matches in order to keep their place in the team.

This might actually already be in the game but not as far as I know.

I only play Football Manager 2006, so this might already have been inplemented, but I would like:

In the player info-screens there should be added if the player is any of the below mentioned things:

* Captain (or vice-captain)
* Playmaker
* Target-player
* Penalty-taker (or listed as potential taker)
* Freekick-taker (or potential)
* Corner-taker (or potential)
* Throw in-taker (or potential)

Im loving the fact that SI do look at what we think should be implemented (even if some of them are a little crazy) and I really hope that FM2011 continues to push on in the right direction as FM2010 looks immense.

Here's my own personal list of priorities for FM 2011:

1. Major overhaul of news and media with professional mini articles & headlines (sections separated by your club news, your league news, your nation news, & international news)

2. Improve Domestic & International Management Interaction: Domestic managers could recommend/criticise selection of a player for the national team, and International managers could ask if they think player X could do a job for the national side.

3. Include the ability of pay off club loans / debts with transfer funds.

4. Dynamic League Reputations

5. Dynamic Manager Career Reputation (that spans your whole career across several clubs)

6. Improving the bench during matches - Should be about time we see a manager and coaching staff on the bench, where the manager becomes animated when you perform a touchline shout. We should also see fourth officials with boards and animated subs.

7. Continue improving 3D Cosmetics: Stadium seating to be club colours, fans to wear home and away shirts of both clubs, and include tunnels for players to enter and leave the pitch. Also could we include floodlights for the stadia? If Im really being cheeky than maybe including small figures around the pitch such as stewards, paramedics, match photographers, cameramen and ball boys (who return the ball to the players) could be a nice little addition :D

8. Match sound overhaul where crowd animations are linked to sound effects, chants, horns, tannoys, clapping, booing, whistling, drums etc.

9. Include a pre-season expectations meeting with squad where you can set individual player targets such as a striker to bag 20 goals or a goalkeeper to keep 10 clean sheets this season, where unrealistic targets could uspet player morale, or meet them and expect the offer of a new contract? An end of season meeting could address specific issues, tell players their leaving the club or praise individuals who performed well.

10. Physios and Fitness coaches should play a more crucial role in the game and you could include the ability to request player medicals when signing a player or trialist, and you could also be presented with fitness test results upon the return to pre-season training and prior to matches. :)

I don´t really know how it works to be honest, but if a staff member retires from his employer before his contract ends, shouldn´t the club in question be compensated somehow. Maybe this is something that can be introduced in future versions, if correct. Not the highest priority of course...

In no order of importance, these are the changes/alterations I'd like to Football Manager. I might cover the changes that have been polished up for FM2010.

1. User Profile - It would be more relevant if the stats were the same as other Managers thus allowing a comparison and giving it real reason to exist. I'd also like it to be more specific, it seems a tad sparse.

2. 3D Match View - Whilst I love the incorporation of this feature (despite being a user since the Championship Manager commentary-only days), my only criticism would be the camera angle(s). Manager's tend to view the match from the stands or dugout. An angle that would depict it from a manager angle would add realism, of course without over doing it since that type of view can be limited. But for the purpose of realism, a kind of angle that at least suggests we're present and watching the match as opposed to feeling like a Manager watching the game from various camera angles. Maintain the current views, and add on a realistic one.

3. Press Conference - I'm sure this was mentioned often, but they're really tedious with the exat same questions occuring. I love the idea, it just needs a bit of work. Perhaps when technology has improved to a far greater level, it would be great if our personal messages were somehow more relevant allowing the computer to comprehend certain sentences. I've only noticed it recognising some foul language, which is a start I guess.

Also for Network play, the other opponent really should see what I've typed in the press conference, otherwise what's the point?

4. Tactical Sliders - It just doesn't seem realistic to slide the bar to such a specific point to tell the players what to do, so specifically. I'd much prefer it to be simplified, I can't imagine Alex Ferguson telling Valencia to "Be creative, but not too creative that you're lacking substance, but still near the end of the slider bar, so you're quite creative but not THAT creative."

5. License for Premiership and Turkish Super Lig Please :)

6. Nationality/Ethnic Origin - When I pick to countries, rather than one of them being assigned as my nationality and the other merely becoming "Knowledge" of the country. It would be great if I could be from two nationalities, half English half Italian etc. The knowledge can be determined by nationality, British etc.

Also, please include Turkish/Cypriot...only Cypriot is included which refers to Greek/Cypriots.

Well those are my personal suggestions!

1. I think thats a good idea but not really a priority imo, it would be nice to see but there would still be little point to it.

2. Not really bothered with that as i mainly use the 2D view but i can see that being a feature that other users would love.

3. Press conference's are being worked on for 2010, and you can actually see what other managers said in their press conferences by going to the media tab under their history.

4. Thats being worked on as well, as has already been announced 2010 will feature a tactical wizard that will make it more realistic to set up tactics as well as keeping the sliders for anyone thats used to that.

5. You mean to have the badges and players faces? Downlaod them for free, obtaining these licenses will cause a price rise in the cost of the game.

6. One nationality is your main and the second is listed as other nationality.

As the individual attributes are existing, collective attributes should exists in order to evaluate tem collective performance ( short passes, off-side, speed, long passes, palcement with and witout ball, movements defense-middle, movement middle-attack etc... ).
So you can adapt your tactic and training according to the collective performance.
Many pepole are not seing 3D view, so it's important for those to evaluate the collective performance. Those collective attributes should changes of course more often than individual attributes, as it will depend on training and the tactic of each match, and their real performances on the pitch.

What you think ?

1. Since they're "polishing", I believe to polish up the Profile would be important, if not a priority.

2. I'm sure a lot of people do use the 3D match view, so as you said, it would be a nice feature for us.

3. Cool, I'm glad they've worked on the Press Conference. However, I don't want to have to browse to the Media tab under History, I'd like it to appear in News.

It would really be great, if FM could register and identify some universal phrases that we'd type, which would expand it's limitations with clicking the options.

4. Again, I'm glad they've worked on the tactics too. Keeping the previous style is a bit of a mixed blessing, whilst I'm so used to it and it would be wise to keep it for the people that would rather stick to it, I also like the notion of having one default style accustomed to the game. But that's just my personal view.

5. Oh right, wasn't aware you could download them for free. Where do I download them?

6. Yes, but it would be nice if there wer two flags situated on the profile. Why does a person have to have a "main" nationality.

1. agree. remove it, or make it worth looking at.

2. agree. I feel the game in later years have taken a turn, making you more of a God than a mere football manager. the game is far too detailed in certain areas.

3. it needs fixing, but as you've said - everyone knows it. they're working on it.

4. definitely. the sliders are over the top. it just further enhances my feeling of being more like some kind of God than a mere football manager. a more oral communication method is much preferred. but this is also something they're working on. I just hope the new approaches are far superior of these sliders.

One thing that I believe is missing is a reason for a player wanting a move away. Currently I haven´t seen a player who wants to move clubs because he thinks the league he plays in isn´t big enough. I mean he could switch from one club to another club because it is bigger, but how about a player wanting a move away from let´s say Borussia Dortmund to either Spain or England (eg. (could be away from any league with 3rd or 4th place reputation or lower) because he wants to player in one of the biggest leagues.

Not saying Germany is a poor league, it´s probably better than Italy soon (if not already!).

Hope suggestion it´s understandable..

I think it could be really cool having the game provide us with decent stats as a Manager, if done right. At the moment, it's sparse and not comparable to other Manager's profiles.

I concur with your comment on point 4, there's far too much freedom. If managers were so precise with their players on how creative or how direct they should play...then those players must have a pretty tough time matching those exact expectations.

Regarding point 5, I wasn't aware that we were able to download badges and player pictures thus the licenses for the game are fine.

And again, include "Turkish/Cypriot"!...and there should be an option of choosing British rather than English as my second nationality. I'm British but of Turkish/Cypriot ethnic descent, why must I choose English as my second nationality. Union Jack would be more appropriate me thinks?

I think the job advert system for staff need to be overhauled. How about if you could actually make your own job advert by choosing from several menu options.

For example:

* Prefered age, nationality and language skills
* Minimum experience and/or reputation
* Suggested wage limit
* Skill requirements (minimum) and desired skills

Not a bad idea, but there's realism and then verisimilitude. If they're going to change the job advert system, it might as well be done as accurate as possible and frankly I feel that would be a tad redundant. I reckon the job advert system works fine.

The biggest feature for me would be to continue playing a saved game from the previous release. Ever since short people calling me "Dad" started appearing in my house, I just haven't been able to get through the game much before the next year's shiny model appears.

I realize that the new version may store stats or come with new categories of data that the old version won't have, and things might need to be fudged when converting the save game, but that's better than never getting anywhere in the darn game.

While we're at it, in general, features that help one to play through the game faster would be useful.

Thanks, and especially thanks for making the game available through Steam.

I think you should implement something which allows you to try and persuade players to come to your club

persuade a player to have 1 more year at your club before retirement

persuading a higher reputation player to come to your team as your on the basis you will get promoted or your buuilding a news stadium etc

At the start of the game I wish all real life transfer were scheduled for their actual dates. The actual agreement for the transfer (if before the window) not happening until it actual date in real life.

Having all the new players in all ready on the their new clubs is no fun. My clubs usually make bad signings and part of the fun of playing FM is not making those same mistakes or having the chance to sign someone who thought our club should have went after. But the money is all ready spent and the mistakes already made when you start a new game. Often you either have to wait until the second year or fix it in the editor which is a pain.

Secondly I wish you could customize your profile more. Pick languages spoken and what countries you have knowledge of, create a previous management history so if you want to play a big club you aren't a unknown etc.

Only problem with this is the way it will affect you and the club you are managing. Suppose, irl, your youth team striker is scheduled to leave come July and join so-and-so, but you feel that he could be Englands next #9, and you're powerless to keep hold of him. Would soon generate complaints on here if that was the case.

1) Able to build school/training camps across all continents/regions

2) Manager Interaction at the National Team level (just like there is interaction with opponent manager at the club level)

3) Voice Narration in 3D game mode

4) Mp3 built-in, especially to pick songs for goal celebrations, match opening themes.

5) Backroom staff should also have accomplishments/awards in their profile if they were part of the club with lifted a cup, just like
players and managers. Perhaps, the more achievements they have under their built, would allow them to develop more wonder kids

6) More critique from the media about the performance of National Team managers, and also at high profile clubs (e.g. Real Madrid). Currently, I personally don't see the media pressuring managers in the game for poor performances. It seems that only the players to have poor performance in the game get pressure from the media, but Managers should also receive the heat from the media.

7) The media should also question managers when they call or leave out a player from the national team. And if the manager doesn't obtain the results after calling certain players and leaving others behind, the media should come even with more pressure towards that manager for making the decisions he made.

8) I would like to see a difference in playing tempo between teams just like IRL. In the current FM series, when I increase the pace tempo for my team the other team seems to play at the same pace, so there is no obvious difference of increasing the pace tempo. For instance, in England most clubs play at a very high pace tempo. Others like in Italy, Mexico and South America play at a more moderate pace. Also, if a club seems themselves inferior in the pitch IRL, they play a slower pace, but I don't see this to be the case in FM.

9) Also, it seems that all players in FM run at the same speed. IRL there are players that are very quick that when they sprint, they leave their defenders behind, but in FM a central defender can have a speed rating of 6 with rating of 6 in pace vs. a striker with a speed rating of 18 and pace at 18 and on the pitch during the game they seem to run side by side, this is not real.

10) Also, players with high dribbling skills should be able to leave their opponents behind, especially when the defender slides and missing his tackles, otherwise, what's the purpose of dribbling if there is no advantage to it?

What i would like to see improved would be the transfer negotiations between you and your own players and you and players from other clubs. As they always want a big signing on fee and clauses such as 1st team appearances etc ad when you negotiate with them like offer them less singing on fee and less money for 1st team appearance they always turn you down and want what they want and you just cant negotiate you have to offer what they want. i no football players are greedy but there has to be some reasonable negotiations. I know that people are asking for a serious change of the training schedules and that there might be changes (someone wrote that) for FM11. I think it would benefit the player, I mean you and me, if we could get constant feedback on how the players are progressing. Very rarely does the assistant manager come to me and say that a player has shown improvement because of first-team football, or is ready for more first-team action and when I check the reports no one never has anything useful to say.

It has probably been suggested before but it would be nice to hear more often how players are doing. Eg. I want to know when I train an 18-year-old too hard because I hand him too many games and he´s getting tired. I want to know BEFORE his attributes begin to fall. Especially if my coaches are world class. That´s just an example..

Also, to add to the interaction between media, players and managers, it would be nice to be able to praise a player for different things. Not only when playing well or "below-par", but perhaps when signing a new contract, when rejecting a club because of his loyalty, etc, etc.

I want countries to become better and worse over time. Like how Hungary was really good a million years ago but aren't great now. Maybe Mauritius or Thailand become better for whatever reason and start generating better players and get stronger clubs. Or maybe Spain or Brazil become second-tier. This would add a lot of interesting variety to the long-term games.

It would be really useful to be able to sort players by their reputation when you get to the latter stages of a career and there are lots of regens. It's fairly easy to keep an eye on the squads at top teams and know who their stars are, but in Italy and Spain the teams populating positions 3-8 usually have a world class player each in there somewhere. It's no good sorting player search by value because the values are A) inflated by any recent transfer activity and B) apparently not linked to status.

When I've transformed Inverness Caledonian Thistle into an empire with a value of £1.04bn I'd like to be able to just sort through the players in the world to see all the world class ones. :)

MY wish list.

1 When the club is successful and have a lot of money their should be an option for building a new stadium.
example with arsenal you can't improve the stadium even after 15 years the say the local council don't wwant to. so let go and build another stadium.

2 the option to start a football team from scratch or as a manager all that money you got from your salary (if you are in a top team you get get a 20 million after 10 years) you can buy a team in bleu square division

3 have the option to choose a sponsore deal instead to have one decided for you.

4 to have a choice to chose a feeder club that you chose your self where ever you want.

5 They should be a femal football league too [my girlfriend ask me to put this:)]

6 able to interact with a national team manager and tell him off for not pick ing up your player lol!

7
to be able to build youth Academy in any contry of our choice in stade of buying them from other cub all the time

I would like priority in :

- training refund with complete report like the match ( complete different philosophy reaching to "do as you want" like in real with unlimit possibilities to train, including prématch training, youth training, attribute training, collective trainings, long terms training etc... )
- scouting ( real worl scouting, with summary video of the player performance )
- more talks with players outside the pitch ( no media necessary to speak ! )
- "fan blogs" ( many usufull or useless news and talks with polls, etc... )
- improve the press conference ( again and again )
- improve the animations a lot please ( in order to apreciate directly in the match the attribute of a player with closer view even )
- increase the numbers of possibility in the medias ( increase the database of possibilities )
- improve the match analysis ( good start ! )

should be possible now that scouts 'roam' on their own accord....

Apologies if these have been brought up before (and completely dismissed) but I would like to see these two 'features' in a future game:

1. Real time score updates. Something like a scrolling bar, maybe at the bottom of the game, with real time scores from actual matches. I think it would be a brilliant feature. Could possibly make it like the new news subscriptions, you can subscribe to certain teams, leagues etc...

2. A purely cosmetic feature, I would like the ability to see my Managerial Attributes (Coaching and Mental) that you see with the other managers in the game, Narrow the Personal Details section, drop the current 'Mental Attributes' to the blank space below 'Staff Roles' and 'Knowledge' probably need to change the name of the current 'Mental Attributes' though incase people get confused :)

Hi all

Couldn't find any where else suitable to post this and didn't think it warranted a new thread however I just wanted to gauge your opinion (fellow FM players) on something I knocked up on Photoshop earlier today.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9696/southamptongame2.jpg (http://img80.imageshack.us/i/southamptongame2.jpg/)

I was just kinda bored and asked myself the question 'if I wanted to play a footy management sim, what would i want it to look like?'

So after some consideration (but no planning!) I just went with the flow and came up with this yes, a few of the stats are wrong and i didn't quite complete the tactics board pitch on the right hand side but you get the idea... hopefully! ....

Anyway, I may make a more 'advanced' version at a later date but first of all i just wanted to hear peoples opinions, good or bad..

Thanks

Player Preferred Moves Instructions

I think it would be good to have a section with a tick-box beside a player's PPM's, fitted into the match screen section, perhaps beside/under Opposition Instructions, to tell your players which of their PPM's you want them to not use in the next match.

The default for this PPM screen during the match could be that all the players' PPM's are ticked, so those who don't want to mess with this and don't think it's an issue, could just play normally by leaving it alone.

That's the idea. But why? -

If a player has just 1 PPM you don't want him using, it's fine because you could lower his creative freedom and that's it.

But there are many players who have more than 1 PPM. Say tries killer balls and places shots. One day you need him to play as a SC not as an AM, so as his manager you should be able to tell him, right son, today I need you to not look for killer balls, but you can still place your shots if you like, so I'm still giving you creative freedom for that PPM, not for the other one.

There is no ideal workaround for this otherwise at the moment, especially if you take into account that many FM'ers like some of their players to swap positions (2 SC's, 2 Wingers, etc). Meaning that lowering creative freedom for one player would affect the other swapped player too. So the ability to tell specific players (not their positions in your tactics) what you want, before the match, and at half-time, would avoid problems.

The way things are currently, it is not ideal for many situations, such as having a versatile player in your squad which you like to play in different positions throughout the season. What PPM's do you ask him to learn, when most (not all) PPM's are sort of specific to certain positions, know what I mean?

But with this method, we could tick or untick PPM's for each match at our pleasure, depending on what we required.

Making a player unlearn his PPM's is not the solution either, as they might be good ones for other situations/matches.

What you shouldn't be able to do for example, is to tick PPM's for the player that he hasn't actually learnt as that would be unrealistic. However, asking him to refrain from using some for a specific match would not be unheard of for a manager to ask a player. And I for one would find it useful.

Maybe the screen for this could be a list of all the names of the players in your match squad, with a dropdown button beside each name called something like "Instruct player on his PPM's".

When you click it you would see a list of his PPM's with tick-boxes on the side of each, and you would see that they were all ticked because that would be the default. Then you untick those you want. if you don't want, you don't mess with it at all, and just hit play.

Like this, you could ask a AMR/SC to learn good PPM's for both roles, but ask him to employ only the ones which benefit the position he is picked in, for each match. There are many other benefits which I'm sure others can think of.

Match plans pls. One of the biggest misses in this version of FM.
If you introduce sideline instructions you should have made it possible to arrange them before the match and save them, so you only have to click 1 button to activate them, like in FML.

Pretty simple this, but pass attempts/completed as a percentage on the stats shown during a match. It would be nice to a see, at a glance, if changing instructions was having a positive or negative impact without having to do the arithmetic.

This goes for other stats on the match stats screen too. How about adding the same functionality from the team page where you could select what you want show, if there's too much for one screen.

So i've just downloaded the demo, my team is grimsby town and I'd like to make a suggestion. Theres a couple of youth players this season, bradley wood and josh fuller, who have broke into the first team and are looking good. Infact bradley wood looks like a fully established league 2 rightback and won man of the match on his debut. Both of these players have just potential future 2 star ratings in a bottom league 2 team that has low expectations of players anyway, but bradley wood hasnt made a single mistake yet and I think he should already be good enough for the first team at the start, maybe a decent rating. Just thought i'd say it because its annoying when a young player has gotten really good in real life but they are crap in the game.

Can we have an option to "hide" transfer listed players when we're looking at our squad screen? I want to know who I'm planning to have come back when I'm looking for people to sign.

Two things -

Training Information Suggestion.

Okay, the suggestion/idea is for the Assistant Manager to provide you with a little more information about a player in a player's training - overview screen (Coach Report section).

Specifically, for him to tell you which areas he thinks the player cannot develop anymore.

For example -

"Pat Rice thinks that Cesc Fabregas will not be able to improve the strength and aerobic side of his game much more, so it might be a good idea to concentrate on other areas of his training."

As far as I understand, there is a 'ceiling' when it comes to certain attributes like pace, that players hit and cannot improve upon. The problem is that we, the managers, have no way of knowing whether they have hit it or not. So we are probably never getting the best out of our players with our training schedules.

This would go a long way in helping address that.

Goalkeeper Training Issue

It is my wish that the following be sorted out please - the issue is that Goalies are not supposed to train in either Defending or Shooting. I make this claim because the Goalkeeper default training schedule uses neither of them, and also because I have looked in players' Training - Attributes - Training Category, and the categories displayed for goalkeepers do not include Defending and Shooting.

So what's the problem you may ask? The problem is that a goalkeeper's Concentration (covered in the Defending training category) and Composure (covered in the Shooting training category), always go down if you do not train them a little in Defending and Shooting as well.

I believe this is wrong, that those attributes should not be covered in those sections when it comes to Goalkeepers. So ideally, they would be moved elsewhere, perhaps by giving them a slightly different name* so that it is possible to move them to another training category, if the FM program wouldn't allow it?

e.g. Concentration = Gk Concentration, Composure = Gk Composure.

If this can't be done, I suggest SI gives more managers a clue about this by upping the Defending and Shooting training categories in the Goalkeeper default schedule.

They both seem like important attributes for a goalkeeper to have.

I've noticed that most of the people are not using a 90min full match, so why not to create like CM did a customized key moments in order to be able to select the actions you want ( tackle, key passes, etc... ) to see, and avoid some other ( throwin, kick-off etc.. ) . So the match will take 30-40 min with a better immersion in management.
I feel 90 min too long and the key moments too fast.

Thanks.

I'd like to see players commenting to the media much more, revealing what they think of you, comparing you to previous manager, or if you were the previous manager, comparing the current regime to yours. Also it would be good if players issued more come and get me pleas etc

I'd also like to be able to ban players from training if they criticised me in public, and let them rot :)

That is a really good idea. I also would like to fine players for no reason because if I want to sell the player, and if he does not move, I can fine him! :D

Voice narration in 3D game mode sounds like a great idea. I believe SI had implemented this in one of the earlier championship manager series but the criticisms at that time was that the voice narration was not diverse enough. But I think that with todays technology, this implementation will work brilliantly!

I wouldn't mind seeing more work done in the Job Application and player signing area:

- When you apply for a managerial position at a club, the club should interview asking you about what you can bring to this club and your ambitions (basically to help you give a better chance of obtaining the job!)

- When you are signing a player, just like what I said above, you should be able to talk to him about the clubs ambitions and where he will fit into the team. I think signing a player on the current FM is too basic and should go into much more detail.

- The possibility to create international club leagues and cups. And for these be able to:

- Set the minimum number of domestic and home grown players respecitvely, applying for the clubs based on what nation they are based in/from.
- Set maximum number of non-domestic players and everything else you can do for national leagues, which is to apply here for the clubs based on what nation they are from.

Having specific instructions being bound to a player and not to the position.

That means that every player has his own specific instructions. For example Crouch will always be a target man and Keano will always be a creative forward. No matter if they start in the line up or come on as a sub.

Nowadays when you insert Keano for Crouch he automaticly takes over the instructions you made for Keano, so Crouch will become a Fast Striker automaticly. The only way to change it is by changing it manually at that time. It would not only be easier to give all the players in your squad there own instructions. It will also make the game run faster and smoother.

In most clubs in Brazil, and certainly in other countries too, it's the board (director of football?) that takes care of the transfers, with the head coaches just recommending the players they want. So my sugestion is:

In the game, it could work like this: let's say you want a central defender, so you make a list of five names in order of preference (within certain parameters, like value, realistic targets, etc) and then the director would negotiate with those players, trying to bring in at least one of them. If the director can't sign any of them he should ask for more recommendations or perhaps suggest some names himself. And the chairman/director, every once in a while, should also sign some players they want/like, regardless of your opinion. At least that is how it works in Brazil, and this should add a nice touch of realism to the game.

Of course this should be optional, for those that want to play the game with more realism, and just in the leagues/clubs that have "head coaches" and not proper "Managers". You should still have the option to play as a manager with any club, with total control over transfers, if you want to.

With this option, everybody should be happy and play the game the way they want, and the director of football would finally have a role to play in the game, rather than being decorative.

Thoughts?

apologies if this has been mentioned before, but after searching this thread on keyword 'staff', it comes up with nearly 300 posts.

i would like - when you view the screen listing all your staff (coaches, physios etc) i would like this screen to show number of staff allowed in that particular area, eg, number of coaches at club = 6, number of coaches allowed = 8.

the only time you get to know how many coaches etc, you are allowed is after you have placed a job advert and then offer someone a contract. its annoying to read that you have already got the allowed number of staff members in that area (or even more in some cases). why let me place a job advert, if i can't employ them?

this refers to fm09 by the way, hopefully fm10 will have this feature now or maybe in a future patch.

Hi guys love this game been buying the champ turned fm franchise since the beginning i have a few points to make

Press Conferences
i hate the press conferences there so repetative / there all the same.

they lack so much imagination and need far more responses

cant you make it so that the press conferances are for only games of signifigant importance

could you not programe the game so that as you go on the game will unlock new media and comments that you have never seen.?
for example you win prem 1 year ,5 years later completly different responses and messages when you win it this time. By leavin an element of suprise and by mixing it up .changing it as the game winds on you could make it much more appealing ...

Suprises

how about 15 years into the game other sudden supriseseg a player dies or bung scandal with one of the clubs ,20 years on in the game and a stand is named after your legendary player eg striker who got 200goals in his 6-7yrs or centre back who was fan fave who got so many awards, or 25 years into the game have a new stadium named after you ..30 years on a knighthood.

youth

mix the youth systems up every few years a suprise like...2 brothers coming through the youth ranks.....or you get invited to a jouniour football tournament....some brand new lads from your feeder club in brazil have been sent to train with you during pre season to look at. (ive always been the fond of the idea of just randomly lets say your team finds a 16 yr old lad from trinidad ...and with the right training you unearth the next dwight yorke!)

all these things will work perfectly... if they are not repetitive and continuous...like i say something different every few years that you dont even know is coming would be excellent for the game.

in game emotion/how to treat legends

i would also like to see more emotion placed on selling your legendary players or if they retire....look along the lines of testimonials and eg henrick larsson supporters clubs saying their bit ect..

and there should be a great fuss if you as a legendary manager steps down ,,,,you should be flooded by the media, players ,ex legend fans ,ect ..it would be great.

animations

also a smill animation under the same vain as the match engine would be nice if you win something...even if it only lasted 60secs you could have 100 of these different celebratory animations just waiting to appear at randomn parts of the game

just going back to the dwight yorke thing...i would like to see every 5 years maybe just the odd outstanding regen from a bermuda or a canada ect ...because i understand these are footballing minnows but it can happen and it would put a much higher value on the scouting system. i mean god knows how much time i have wasted sending scouts to the carribean to never find a single reasonable player in 1o seasons?

this would vastly improve the game..please consider these ideas

Did a search in the forum expecting to find a "wish list" section but there isn't one. Might be an idea to add one. Well, since I have a wish or 2 here they are....

For 3 years now, I've become frustrated at having to manually allocate scouting tasks to my scouts/trainers for the several thousand players that are interested in joining the club every year. These same players become interested year after year as I notice them cycle round from being scouted then the scout reports drop off and I end up scouting the same player again the following year. Often these are players with no hope of improving, meaning my scout/trainers are wasting their time.

Please add a feature that allows me to set scouts and/or trainers to auto scout interested players.

As a second wish, it would be very useful to set a minimum recommendation level worth reporting. For example, if the scout/trainer considers a player to be "quality" or better prospect then filter out and don't report any player to my mail that has a lower prospect level. This would save me trawling through dozens of "not worthwhile" or "last resort" reports.

Ok, how about the manager scouts the player? After a 'Full scout review of 3 matches, manager has option to view the player in a match and given options which friendly/match option to watch! This would then enable completely accurate stats. Alex Ferguson has said many times that he has watched players personally before buying them! This could then also tie into the media; If a manager watches too many players and the suspected targets all play in the same position it would force player to demand explanation or player wanted to leave etc.

Liked the 'player tactics' idea earlier where you can assign specific tactical instruction for each players so you don't have to constantly adjust positional tactics every time you substitute. Been wanting this for years!lol

This would also allow a player who switches position to keep the same tactics if that is preferable without changing everything ie long shots, creative freedom etc.

More squad opinions of a manager would be cool. Likes teams style of play! Maybe my tactics in recent years have been rubbish but I haven't seen this one in the game for a while (cant remember which FM). I always play attractive, attacking football too and win loads of competitions, champs league etc.

Or Player thinks manager makes poor signings ie a player with scout, manager, coach potential? These older player would have some wisdom by that stage in the game anyway. Gerrard hated Houlliers signings from the day of their first training session! Gerrard said it about Biscan!

Thinks manager is a tactical genius, gets best out of team (motivation), plays too defensive, too attacking, etc, etc.

I think more media about players and staff hidden ratings would be cool! Ie Keegan looks like cracking under the pressure of the title etc. Or controversial/unprofessional players being ****ed off when taken off early, crash their cars, speak out in media about another player etc. Maybe I'm a great man-manager but I haven't come across it!;-)

Training

Players never tell you when they are unhappy about the training or think they are being worked too hard. At least I've never been told. Player should request meeting with manager to discuss problem which brings me to another point. Managers ultimately help players and especially younger players with personal problems. If a player has one the manager should have the option to speak to the player to discuss the wife cheating!;-)

Lastly as mentioned before wages are of no value to a manager unless he can do something with it. How about a reward system but not like some games ie buy a mansion, car, parrot etc. How about something that has some value like, £10,000 for a course to learn a new language which aid communication with player and the course could last a year before the manager has the skill? I've plenty more ideas on this one!

Why does FM2010 not have an expansion pack? Every game now has one and if there was only that allowed you to be chairman it would solve the whole, football manager/ club manager debate i.e. I want to chose my own sponsors, choose size of expansion etc etc. Would definitely buy it!

Would also give more control to other areas of the game ie youth camps etc.

Transfer policy could be set for new managers ie no big transfer fees for players over 26 etc

The ability to cancel pending substitutions, assuming I'm not just being thick with not finding it in the FM10 demo.

We effectively had the ability to do this prior to FM08 when the game paused for subs (does anyone not pause the game to issue sub instructions anyway?). Real life managers can do it. We can now cancel pending touchline instructions, why can't we cancel impending subs in FM?

1. Sounds in FM are not on the same level as the other aspects of the game. One idea would be to listen referee whistles more loudly. Clapping more clear. In general, sounds to be more clear than now where it sounds like noise.

2. Also, for Champions League and National games I would love to have the option to listen the anthems and see badges around the stadium.

3. SI please improve stadiums and crowds. It has been a nice addition, but I think is not difficult to put in the database if a stadium is an olympic one, or if it has one level, two or three levels of stands.

4. Make referee decisions more random, in particular offsides and even fouls, yellow cards etc. I want refeeres to make bad decisions in order for me to watch and watch over the replays to make my own decision.

Whilst waiting for the release of FM10, I played FIFA manager2010..... Although general gameplay was not as good as FM, there was a few aspects that if incorperated into FM would make it even better.

> Being able to control what is being built for your club e.g. Stands, Training facilities.
> Being able to build centres of excellence in foreign and home countries, to better scout Youth and develop players.
> Organising training camps in different countries and have aims for that camp e.g. team work, fitness etc.
> More control over sponsors and merchandising.

Although I do understand that FM is FM and not FIFA manager these are just a few suggestions to give the consumer a better managerial experience. Some may not agree with me but this is only an opinion!

Mike.

On indirect free kicks, I'd like a new animation to see the referee's arm raised until it has been touched by another play or goes out after the kick has been taken. I was a little surprised to see this not already in the game.

THE INDIRECT FREE KICK

Signal
The referee indicates an indirect free kick by raising his arm above his head. He maintains his arm in that position until the kick has been taken and the ball has touched another player or goes out of play.

Tried out the demo of championship manager, whilst it didnt really compare. The one feature i liked was the freekick customizer. Where it would give you examples on a training pitch of how different kinds of freekicks would work. Give you the chance to customize them a bit. So set up different ways of laying off a freekick to smash it, or direct different players to run to different areas in the box & then loft it over to whoever you choose. I imagine that would be very satisfying when it comes off.

A special screen for the results after you place an advert. Sometimes you get 10 or more applicants after you place an advert. With the current lay-out you need to click them all seperatly to check the stats. A screen in which you can select certain attributes to filter them would be a lot more usefull.

Couple of things.

1) Please make the attributes list in the player search filters the same order as they are on the player profile screens.

2) Tackling should be customisable in the following way;

Defensive third: hard/normal/easy
Midfield Third: hard/normal/easy
Attacking third: hard/normal/easy

3) You should be able to target certain players for the offside trap, i.e. you would want to play the offside trap against Defoe but not Crouch.

i have played these games since the outset and i feel something is lost ? and with this new version its just the same ? i have noticed some points i was wondering if someone could add these as i cant see a point of putting them in the game if you cant do anything about it,

1. Ticket prices ? whats the point if i cant change it ?
2. Season Ticket price ? same as above ?
3 i once played a game were you could add terraces and seating was good i thought, so if i wanted to play a low club i would like to ask the board for money to build and have an input into new stand types ?
4 why cant we have a list of sponsers to choose from ?

5 i just think i need more to do than just pick the side etc, afterall you get the sack for going into debt so why not have a little more control ove it ?

would like to know if anyone else has any views on this ?

I would like to see the best added leagues in editors added to FM11.
Seperate options for set piece takers, eg different corner taker if a near post or far post corner.
Add ons to transfers such as houses, cars etc
Manager being able to visit different clubs for coaching tips. Eg Manager of Bury gets advice from Man Utd boss.

I think there could be an option under Player Search to exclude your old club´s scouting reports. Say I´m Southport and take charge at Dortmund. I go to Player Search and sort by my scouts "star ratings". I get a lot of 4-5-6-7 stars but those are compared to my old Southport team and not my new Borussia Dortmund.

So, maybe there should be a way either to filter them or to delete them all together with a simple click of a button.

We are all aware that IRL, the training ground is probably one of the key aspects of the potential successes/failures of a football team of the course of a season.

Teams who have any sort of ambition for success, spend millions on creating state of the art facilities. FM does recognise this, but it doesn’t in reality give us the access to the training ground as we should really have.

How often have we heard on MOTD or a quote in paper where the manager says “We’ll put that right in training on Monday” or “We’ll work on set pieces in training”. Currently, we just set a few slider bars and to be honest not much more is required to be successful.

However what if for example, we were to take over say Bolton for example, but wanted them to play like Arsenal? Obviously this would take a lot of time, getting in the right personal and basically a lot of work in the training ground.

In the current FM setup we’d change a few slide settings but how about if we had the training setup of CM (03/04)?

Going off tangent for a moment, back in CM 03/04 (before the split), we had probably the most interesting training setup for any Cm/FM game. One that could turn into a time sink in itself, basically the weekly tab training.

For those who haven’t played that version or don’t recall, you had a number of modules that could be dragged and dropped into a 7 day schedule.

Example:

5-a-side (Large Pitch)
5-a-side (Small Pitch)
Cross Country
Crosses
Overloading (Attacking)
Overloading (Defensive)
Penalties
Pig In The Middle
Set Pieces (Attacking)
Set Pieces (Defensive)
Sprints
Tactical Training
Technique
Training Match
Weight Training
Agility (GK)
Distribution
Handling
Agility
Closing-Down Session
Heading
Shadow Play
Shooting

Therefore if we wanted to make Bolton play like Arsenal, we could use the drop and drag tabs and structure the training as we saw fit. Maybe more work on technique, 5-a-side, one touch games, 2 v 2 etc (Obviously, SI if they revisited this could add in a load more modules).

Personally, I find this sort of training setup a lot more involving and interesting. I know everyone will not agree. The thing that I found interesting about this was how often I would check my up coming fixtures and modify training as per the opposition I was facing. Example, if I was going to play a match where chances would be few and far between, I’d get my attacking players to do a bit more shooting practise or if I was going to play in Europe on a Wednesday id do a bit more possession training but then leave the training schedule light for Thursday/Friday before my Saturday game.

I hope people understand what I am getting at here. I miss this level of involvement on the Training schedule.

I do hope SI have plans afoot to look at the training setup in FM as it currently is and make it a lot more of an involving and interesting component.

Well that’s my two cents worth.

I really think they should for the next version replace footballplayers with fantasy sword-wielding combatants with the ability to win awards like sword of sharpness, elven chain mails, potions of levitate etc. A match to the final man standing or at least till the opposition yields.

I would love to see few players ( ex : captain ) speaking about a match and give their opinion ( ex : we were too weak in defense, we have to be more collective for the next match etc... ), as fans are speaking about each match. It will give more interactivity and feelings with the players.
I would like to have, when you manage a professionnal club, a view to the club web site ( specific to the club ), where many opinions, polls, statistiques ( ex : fans giving each month a poll opinion of the manager, to increase the pressure, or to have polls of fans opinion about few players ).
In summary more and more infos ( to increase the fun and realism better to have statistques and polls opinions, with some colours polls ).

Thanks.

FM 2010 or 2011 Editor Suggestions

- remove the slight pause after editing a value
- decrease the time taken to load your own custom .xml file
- there is too much free space and some tabs can be merged with others to take up some of that free space
- all of the editable fields can be placed into one page to save space and time
- a grid to show which box we are ticking and what text box we are typing into
- similar to the column of the editor in FM 09, a column for your current edits instead of the recent database records drop-down menu
- mass add to column instead of individually
- a tooltip showing basic info when hovered over a player, staff, stadium, city, etc...
- a dark skin for the editor like in the game as it is easier for the eyes

will post some more if i can think of any. :)

Brilliant review of the game, literally echo everything the guy has said, well done SI. I would love to be able to open pages in tabs within the game interface. For example, right click on a player's name and open his stats page in a new tab so I wouldn't have to go back and forth from say, my shortlist or his team page.

Also, there is an option, when you bid for player or withdraw a bid and the confirmation window pops up, to never show it again. But when you remove a player from your shortlist and the game asks you to confirm, there is no such option. I don't understand why they wouldn't have it, but I would like to see it happen!

I agree with a couple of things mentioned above, about choosing your own feeder clubs and creating youth academies abroad.

Oh, and I would like the ability to search for staff based on their int'l caps and/or playing careers. Love to hire former players as coaches and scouts.

Would like to see Unibond Premier, Zamaretto Premier League and Ryman Premier teams included.

What about the option to play legendary teams - say the England Team of 1966, Liverpool 1980s, German Team of 1990, Manchester United 1990s, Arsenal 2003-4.

Also, NO bugs/crash dumps etc. if the game takes longer to develop, in order for it to be 100%, then delay release until it is 100% (as Mr. Clough would have said).

I'd like more control over corners and free quicks to set up detailed routines ie. pass there then pass there, then shoot. They are too general.

I'd like more loyalty from assistants particularly if you signed them yourself.

I'd like to bring in staff from my previous club, when I sign my contract with my new club. As in real life.

I find the fact that substitutes shake hands when you've made changes in the dressing room at half time and no one will see, silly. Please re write the commentary around this.

If as suggested in the bugs forum the assistant talking about scheduling advice meetings and not being able to do so is not a bug, I would like to actually schedule these meetings in my calendar.

I've been buying FM for about 4 years now, never posted because I've been fairly happy with each game overall despite the usual little gripes, but since FM09 been completely obsessed and therefore thinking about things perhaps a little too deeply.

The transfer system on the whole is great, its throws up oddities and weird things, but then again real life does the same except it becomes obvious after the fact and seemingly natural. But a few things I would love to see if anyone from S.I. is reading and it makes some kind of sense.

- The option to state what role you want to take a player on loan for, i.e. for back-up or a 'valuable first-team' role, akin to the loan offers you receive for your players. Not a huge thing but a nice touch and could play an interesting part in making your loan attempts successful.

- Maybe an option to turn off automatic short-listing of players you scout. I know its useful if you don't obsessively scout players but one of the pleasures in FM is looking for useful bargains and carefully hunting for the right player, automatic short-listing can making things tiresome unless you keep switching back and forth from shortlists. (yup, this isn't really transfer system related, oh well)

- Increased ability to entice a top player. I know that the role needs to be specified anyway, 'key', 'first-team' etc, but maybe somehow adding an extension to the 'manager promises' already in use. I'm thinking along the lines of Shankly famously convincing prospective signees about Liverpool's credentials well before they were realised, with real consequences in happiness and performances if the club fails to fulfil them. It could add great depth to the already fantastic immersion when your striving to pull up a middling club.

- The various payment structures playing a real role. Managing a big club with a momentarily shrunken budget (happens to most unless you're MU or City), it feels like the payment structures are just cosmetic, you need the whole sum in your transfer budget when you bid even if the payments are spread over two years. I know it'll cause problems with the financial modelling but maybe a solution to make the various structures a bit more useful? For example, if I buy a player with a clause triggering after 10 league games then the board preventing me from playing him after the 9th unless the club can pay the amount due, or in payments stretching over 24 months, half the sum is deducted from each years budget.

I realise that implemented wrongly it could throw the whole point of a 'transfer budget' off and used to cheat mercilessly, but the underlying point, that payment structures exists to make it easier to buy players with restricted financial resources, makes it feel odd that they don't play any real purpose in FM except when selling a player. Maybe some suggestions as to workable solutions if people feel its could improve the transfer system?

This, also Head Scout and YTS Manager staff positions to be added, would be a nice natural development of the backroom advice aspect to have more specialist input.

Possibly even a reserve team manager who has less first team responsibility, maybe you can ask him to give opportunities to certain players or put max 45 minutes orders on recovering injuries.

The ability to link scouts to a feeder club, so if you have two or three players at one club then the scout will always give you match reports.

Player interaction, the specific ability to tell a player to work on its physical attributes, or even a few more general suggestions (work on defending/interplay/technical ability). I know you can do this by designing a specific training schedule for them but my midfield training is already quite physically inclined and yet young Mr Spearing is making little progress, which is a shame as he just needs a little bit more to start pushing the first team.

Press conferences - more than one answer making a difference, its annoying that I go through four or five questions and then the 50% of the time that anything makes any difference only one question counts! Especially annoying with manager interaction (when I say beating a manager doesn't give me specific pleasure, it should improve the relationship) and when praising players (fantastic goal never ever gets picked up in the PR). I can deal with the formulaic aspects of press conferences but please make it actually count! Maybe the assistant can give a whole report on how answers went down.

And the ability to send players to press conferences, or have it automatic (you choose the players but he goes on occasion as a matter of course) or generally have players appear in the media (the media relationship bit on the profile is a bit irrelevant at the moment).

When you first begin as manager you should be able to interract with any player and tell them what you expect from them for the long and short term future.

A "name your price" option to transfers when trying to buy or sell a player. ( i'm trying to buy joe cole and it is incredibly pointless to be adding a million each bid to see if they accept i'm up to 21m.

Having used Steam the past couple of years SI need to bring out a better multiplayer environment and the ability to host a dedicated server for online games.
I agree, better Steam integration would be nice. The ability to join a friend's game through Steam rather than having to mess around with router settings or use hamachi would be excellent. FM doesn't really seem to be making much use of Steam at the moment other than the achievements. Online play through Steam is an obvious candidate, in fact I'm surprised it's not already in FM yet.

Also, press conferences tend to get repetitive really fast... Better, more varied questions and much better answers please. Incidentally, while were on the topic, why is there no news items on whats said in press conferences? When playing a network game, it'd be nice to see what your rivals/friends say in their press conferences. Otherwise it's pretty pointless.

Last one, please increase the team talk options.... I hate "For the Fans!"... it's ridiculous... and there's no way anyone in real life would say that for the majority of matches (as recommended by assistants...) The other options are exactly that great either... a wider range of feelings and comments would be nice.

I think it would be good if the European away games were made a little bit more realistic.

Currently, its as though you fly out your whole squad to foreign countries (your 1st team, reserves and U18 squads!), so just the before the match you can choose from any players you like. It should be made more realistic so you have to chose your squad for the away European match approx 3 days before the match (depends on how far away the opposition are), so you have to choose your squad 3 days before the match, then just before the match you select the actual team. the Squad size you can take out would be set at a limit of say 20 players.
