ROONA
ive played fm for the last few years and liked the way youngsters from the under21's and under19's national teams often get touted as an ex or current pro all im wondering is how it actually works because alot of the youngsters look quite average half the time is there a preset attribute that if a certain youngster meets he then is touted as a certain person for instance a english foward with 16 pace would be the next michael owen? Dumax
IIRC it's done by nationality and by height (Short, Average, or Tall). Not much else goes into it.
ROONA
so a young brazilian touted as the next ronaldo is done so purely because hes brazilian and about 5ft 10 tht dont seem right?
edgar555
IIRC it's done by nationality and by height (Short, Average, or Tall). Not much else goes into it. This is how it worked in FM10, not sure if they have made any changes for 11. It is/was purely cosmetic, it would be nice for it to mean more but hardly essential. Smurf
You can have a chat with them and tell them you want to see improvements in training. But I don't think there is a way to track this? Which would be nice, get reports from coaches over their training at a request.
Pompey1978
IIRC it's done by nationality and by height (Short, Average, or Tall). Not much else goes into it. Seriously? Not even by position, PA or CA?
Never Come Down
I loved it when the feature first came out. I had a young regen with "Dubbed the next Gary Lineker" and couldn't believe my luck, thinking I had the best young striker of his generation in my under 18s. Unfortunately he turned out to be a very average Championship player. Only thing I could think was whether they'd spotted his media presenting potential? crouchaldinho
Seriously? Not even by position, PA or CA? I'm shocked at that as well. Is this really true? I would have thought CA or PA might have something to do with it, surely?

No. Purely cosmetic. I was disappointed when i found out too.
Boydy9
No. Purely cosmetic. I was disappointed when i found out too. I'd go past disappointed and say I'm more than a bit annoyed if it is cosmetic. Pointless having it in the game if so
ViG1980
Yeh, you'd think it would also be based off potential.
ShellShokk
So I bought Yaya Sanogo for 5mil and now its says "dubbed the new Djibril Cisse" Does this mean he wont amount to anthing?

SCIAG
Seriously? Not even by position, PA or CA? Position is factored in, yes. I think players might have to be at a certain reputation club for it to happen, because you don't often see it in the lower leagues.
ShellShokk
Hey, Djibril Cisse had his heyday! lol One of the best strikers at one point (granted it was for about 5 seconds) It will do me for a season or so, especially if I can ramp up his transfer value. I was West Brom in my last game on FM2010, Man U bought Sanogo and he was the bane of my life on it! So i thought I would give him a try on this. 11 goals in 7 apps (not too shabby for an up and coming 17 year old) I was just hoping for him to turn inot a world beater I suppose like he was on my save in FM2010. Coen
Don't worry ShellShokk, Just because someone is "dubbed as ...", it doesn't mean they won't be a world beater. It just isn't an absolute guarantee.
walsh
in relation to the fact that not many of them ever really become anything in FM, to be fair it's exactly the same in real life.
cris182
how many times has there been a new maradona in real life who has not made it. quite a few.
