Player retiring whilst still in teenage years

just had an ex liverpool player Jack Robinson retire from football at age 18. I got rid of the fella at the start of my saved game. Maybe he retired because no club picked him up in almost 2 seasons.

In the news report, there is no reason stated why he retired.

Anyone else had this happen in their saved game ?

it happens regularly with players going on free for too long..

Also players who fall out of love for the game, injuries?

It is not uncommon at all for players who go unsigned for a while to retire. Though, in the same vein, if younger players are released and end up in lower leagues, they will stay there for a damn long time.

I've saw this several times in FM2010, and I share your theory that it is to do with the length of time they remain unemployed.

Never had a youngster retire when at a club, or when recently released, only after a number of seasons without a club.

Guess it would happen that way IRL - if you can't find a club you would eventually give up on the idea and settle down in "proper" job. I suppose it keeps the game database from reaching unmanageable proportions too.

what i wanna know is why no club would pick him up? he got good potential and i'm sure there would be plenty of premier league clubs interested in him if he's a free agent.

Perhaps because no scouts rated him highly enough for the Premiership, and his reputation was high enough that his wages were to high for lower league clubs

Only a guess though
