How to stop long shots?

My players are continuously taking long shots from about 25 yards, and I'm yet to see a single one go in.

Is there any way of persuading my players to pass it out wide, or do anything other than firing it ridiculously wide.

tactics > individual instructions and set long shots to rarely.

some players will have 'takes long shots' as a ppm. interact and ask them to stop

My Liverpool team is having at 10 long shots per game and creating no clear cut chances!

What i found that works for me, well decreases the amount by quite a bit, is obv to put all players on rare long shots...

but also change quick tactic to "work ball into box" just before KO of a game....

That seems to make my players pass the ball into the box, seem to be scoring more by using this method.

Yeah the touchline shout 'work ball into the box' works as does 'retain possession'.

Surely a 'work ball into the box' should be a pre match tactic

all my players are on rarely and i allways use 'work ball in the box'. Still at least 8 out of 10 shots are long shots.

Also, you can try to give the players who shoot so often a more direct passing game, since they might shoot at goal because no clear passing route can be found

Also, don't have too many players on high creative freedom settings.

Players with high creative freedom will ignore you and take long shots anyway.

Most frustrating part of the game

I'm having an opposite problem, it seems AI teams are taking long shots and are scoring with ease even with instructions set for closing down and hard tackles. I hope I'm not missing any vital instructions for my team to stop giving up easy goals as these.

Anyone with similar problems and and advice on how to stop this greatly appreciated. Thank you

Fluid organisational style helps too. Means more players from the back will try and get forwards giving the player on the ball attacking options rather than shooting

I seriously cannot stop Raul Meirles from shooting from distance! Had the same problem last year with Mascherano

yes using "work ball into box" works for me as Liverpool. So saying that Gerrard has got some absolute screamers from long range!

"Retain Possesion", "Work ball into box" are the two commands that should stop it.

Tried that..works the odd time..but when i beat Arsenal 3-0 then play West Ham at home and lose 1-0 with 11 long shots it annoys!!
